Lucas bent down to retie his blue running shoes. He knotted each lace twice over to keep them from coming undone again. As he stood up his baseball hat fell off his head and into the shifting sands.

"Tsk."

Lucas leaned back down and picked up the hat. He brushed the sand off it before putting it back on and continuing his walk.

A blizzard oozed out of the edges of glalie's mouth. Small specks of ice dot begin to the hammer that the face pokemon held. As the blizzard ensued more ice gathered till it began to wedge itself into the wood.

Despite the summer heat the blizzard raged. Ice snaked across the grass till a large swath of ground is coated in ice. It became a slip and slide adventure for the pokemon that would be in Lane's KFC (Kombusken Fried Chicken) bucket that night. When the pokemon slid across the ice uncontrollably glalie floated towards them. Then like a ice climber it hit each in the head with its hammer.

Lucas reels the submarine backwards when the barraskewda attacks. Taking a hand off the controls he smashes the eject button for the pokeballs he'd loaded. A slip opens towards the front of the submarine. It illuminates the water with a flash of red light as an omanyte materializes.

The prehistoric pokemon's appearance was too slow to be of any help. Tapu Fini's blizzard encased the water type faster than the head scientist could even react.

"You think it's done for?" Lucas' words came out faster than the legendary's attack. "You want more pokemon?" His heart races as his hand hovers over the button to eject pokemon.

Lucas wasn't much of a battler so he consulted a book on the bus ride over to the gym. There were some solid tips in it for a novice like him. It even had more advanced sections, which unfortunately went right over the scientist's head. It'd take a lot more than a bus ride's worth of studying to remember and comprehend everything the book had to offer.

Glancing around as he walked Lucas made his way towards the designated challenger spot. In hand he held a pokeball that glittered in the sunlight from its recent polishing.

"So do I get the first move?" He called out to the gym leader. "I think one of the online reviews said I could do that."

After almost forty five minutes of waiting Lucas finally got a text from the coordinator saying they were at the police station. Apparently their car had been stolen by a group of thugs.

"Tsk. Can't believe some people" Lucas says as he gets up. He shoots priam conrad a message telling him to stay safe and warning him about the thugs in Mauville. Lucas knew he was out with friends there, and couldn't bear the thought of priam conrad getting hurt.

Just as Lucas opens the door to his car he watches as a car slams into a drizzile not ten feet away for him. The car doesn't so much as slow down to check on the poor pokemon before disappearing around a corner.

"Oh god oh fuck." Lucas rushes over to see if the pokemon was okay. It was a bloody mess but still breathing. Rushing to get it medical help he captures it in a pokeball and, without checking if it was successfully captured, throws the ball in the trunk and drives to the nearest pokemon center.

Lucas patiently waits for the coordinator to show. He'd been told to that they were only five minutes away by car a mere thirty minutes ago.

"God I hope they didn't get into an accident," Lucas thought aloud. His back hurt at the mere thought.

He couldn't afford them not showing up. Without the coordinator he wouldn't have a proper entrance planned for the coordinator contest. priam conrad's suggestion of ordering a real life version of his geodude costume just wasn't gonna cut it.
