kazimir watched as his sharpedo just sort of floated in the air after jumping out of the water. he had to wonder how a pokemon doing that would even get a speed boost on land or how it could even show off agility in this state. more importantly how the heck was it even doing that? was it swimming in the air or something? A horn trumpeted a loud and off-pitch tune to declare the start of the race. Savannah startled at the sound, nearly tripping over her own two feet. Great. What a positively stunning start.

Savannah’s “scarf” went rogue at the starting signal. A competitive ferocity glinted contrasted the elegant way the Dratini held herself. Elegance soon melted away into a silent ferocity as Silk weaves around obstacles with surprising agility.

Uh.. what? Snakes could move that fast? Wait.. she was falling behind a slithering serpent. Granted, they were on the same team but her self-esteem (not that she had much of that) was flattened. ”A’ight!” Savannah cheered Silk on and, to a greater extent, herself.

She never understood silly rules like this. If this was a contest of speed, why wasn’t it full of psychics like her Gardevoir? Certainly, teleport was the epitome of all speed and acceleration. But no, it was all about running and flying and….slithering….and levitating fishes? Sure. But teleporting was bad somehow.

Whatever, really. If these people were so in love with their rules, she would play along for now. After all, that was what a good, law-abiding rich lady would do. Couldn’t be too upset about being brought down by the man when you supposedly had too much money to realistically spend anyway.

And in a way, she didn’t care at all. Girl was just here to have fun. And she had most fun in these kinds of contests when she caused a bit of chaos and drove things to bigger heights. In this case, that meant sending Frosmoth off to the race with the instruction to immediately use Tailwind and just boost everyone up to see how it went. She only lived once, after all.

Despite the day break between now and their strength test Razz was definitely worse for wear. Both his arms now required bandages for their bruises from the strength course but his Pokemon's determination was rubbing off on him. Which lead to him and Salem being here now. With a PSYCH UP to match the Sharpedo's speed and the aid of TAILWIND from a contestant he has yet to meet so far Salem was able to max himself out. So when the starting bell rung hopefully they'd be able to make a good start, and weren't too worn out from previous rounds.

getting a lift from the tailwind was enough to keep the sharpedo afloat in the air as he weaved through it like he was still in the deepest parts of the sea. it was honestly kind of amazing in a weird kind of way, it certainly made navigating some of the obstacles in their way much more easier than it flopping on the ground. "looking good torpedo, maybe we should change your name to missle or something." the sharpedo rolled his eyes at his trainers words before shooting forward like a literal torpedo through a set of rings and then swung back around to do it again just to show off. now kaz rolled his eyes at the display.

The air current abruptly changed. Rather than pressing against the team of six, the air created a tailwind that reduced the resistance. Silk's ears quivered in excitement as the wind picked up. If she could find the right current.. there! Her agility heightened as the current pushed against the Dratini's outstretched winged ears and propelled her into the air. While it was more akin to gliding than flying, the young dragon was ecstatic.

Meanwhile, Savannah struggled to catch up. Her breath was already ragged, ravaging her slim form with each inhale and exhale. Whyyy did the finish line have to still be so far away?

Everyone was going much faster, nice. The other people in this race seemed surprised, too, which honestly was her primary goal in all of this. Aside from that though, no one tripped or was thrown out of their lane from the Tailwind, meaning it was only half effective in her mind. Sadly, attacking others was not allowed here – they were kind of meant to cooperate, after all – so there wasn’t much she could do aside from smirking.

A proper lady would behave in such a situation, after all. There was only so much leeway she would get for klutziness. Therefore, it was best to just play it straight from now on. Frosmoth, being one of the few proper fliers about, easily dodged the obstacles that came up. Honestly, it was probably a bit unfair to have proper wings in this, but that wasn’t her problem. After all, she didn’t have wings herself and had to follow best as she could on her own. Maybe that was balance enough? “Let’s be selfish and add a Quiver Dance,” she instructed, causing the Frosmoth to spin in the air, giving itself just a bit more of an edge.

Razz couldn't help but glance at the others, knowing full well that Kazimir was fine, hell he was sure he was much better off than what he was doing, but it seemed the others were still very new. Especially when the girl who gave them the biggest boost went with a Quiver Dance "You may want to use Tail Wind," he called out to her in hopes of helping. Salem was quick to meow at him to get his head back in the game as they reached the platforms that were going over the water. He gave a nod as Salem used PSYCHIC in order to fly them across as fast as he could to avoid the obstacle all together rather than have it be a problem.

"c'mon slowpoke! what happened to all that speed you had a while ago?! don't tell me your getting weighed down by gravity all of a sudden!" kaz shouted back to his sharpedo who looked like he was suffering from a bit of fatigue while his trainer was much more ahead of him at the pace of a simple jog. there was no way that this was it was it? that the sharpedo could just run out of steam? no, no it wasn't! the shark mustered all the strength it could for another push to chase after his trainer or die trying.

Uh.. were those hurdles? Heck to the capital N-O. It was funny. A lot of the jobs she was able to acquire required manual labor (she had the blisters to prove it) yet her physicality was.. lacking. Her muscles were non-existent yet she always managed to get the job done (through literal pain, sweat, and sometimes tears). If she viewed this as a job that she desperately needed..

Nope.

The hurdles were far too intimidating. She could already envision what would happen: she would try to jump only to face plant into one of the hurdles. People were watching which made the idea even more nerve wracking.

Luckily, Silk came to her aid. She made a u-turn in order to aqua tail the track hurdles when she noticed her struggling trainer. Gratitude flashed on her weary face. She owed the Dratini.. and no doubt the little dragon would immediately want to cash in on that.

Okay, time to pick up the pace. She would get the job done.

Oh, she might want to use Tailwind now? Goodness gracious, silly her. Clearly, the ongoing winds were some kind of freak natural phenomenon that she had absolutely nothing to do with. Vio knew that she wasn’t exactly the greatest of trainers. But to her knowledge, these winds lasted at least a little bit longer. Using them now again would do nothing as far as she was concerned, so she simply pouted.

“Quiver Dance,” Vio noted pointedly as she focused back onto the race, her Frosmoth casually flying ahead, since someone else had already taken care of the hurdles for them. Now that, that was helpful in her eyes.
