A new day out on the field brings about a new opportunity for them to solidify Silph Co.'s standings on the Leader Board. While the company has an overwhelming monopoly on the top spots between categories, several trainers have dared to fight out the competition until the bitter end.

Oxygen masks, gourmet meals cooked by professional nutritionists, even a private hotel room with a complimentary spa day and masseuse session; no expense is sparred when it comes to recruiting raw talent. The trials and tribulations they've gone through are paid for in full. His only ask is that they bring their A-game and work for the pay.

Fernando's extended his wallet on their behalf. That's his skin in the game. Those that accept no longer have room to negotiate. His demands are simple but he'll drive them through a wall to ensure they deliver. They're here for one thing and one thing only.

To win.

"Battle routine set."

The sun isn't even out yet but there they are out on the track. As long a staff member is willing to time them, they're golden. A familiar Smeargle gathers Fernando's Pokemon into a huddle in order to cheer for their success. Behind their line of scrimmage, they each takes turns on their partner's Mudsdale.

When the dust settles and they call for the clock, the Mudsdales ass is red with paw prints, utterly BEAT UP.

Their first line of defense is also their MOODIEST.

This can't even be classified as the 'asscrack of dawn'. Gavin is often up before the sun thanks to perpetual insomnia but it's rare that he finds himself out on the beach with a crowd of almost-strangers and their Pokemon.[break][break]

His competitive drive had led him to accept a spot in Silph's tournament line-up, and he'd stayed for the perks. He could afford these sorts of things himself with his ill-gotten riches, of course, but there was something incredibly rewarding about living in luxury on Silph's dime. It's something he'll no doubt chuckle about with his cohorts later.[break][break]

Mudsdale is in top shape, coat gleaming as it waits at the starting line. It doesn't even flinch at the beating it takes from Fernando's team; it's STAMINA sees it ready and raring to go.[break][break]

the psych up that follows up the setup is pretty much guaranteed to come from kyle's pokemon. there's no other option for him to take, especially under the watchful look of fernando.

the exaggeration fernando has with the prep work gets kyle worried. this wasn't exactly what he had imagined when games were announced, but at least it's good enough to motivate him, kinda.

Razz felt a bit out of place here. While waking up early was nothing new to him, nor had these games the accommodation were. While he figured the guy leading the strength course was a bit of an overachiever he didn't realize until after the new recruitment how much. With the room, the food and extras in general were all a great contrast to his small apartment he currently rented and dollar store pasta. Now he understood why the man was so extra, couldn't be head of a company without the drive he supposed. [break][break]

All of it got Salem excited for the games to come for the day at least which was the most important. As while sure they had to run with their pokemon they were the one taking the hits. The young ranger could only hope that his partner could keep with that energy as apparently this was going to an all day ordeal. Both only watched the use of Beat Up on Mudsdale once again surprised on just how much thought went into increasing the entire team's stats as fast as possible. Even their planning was extra. Salem just nodded as he used PSYCH UP ready to go once the bell was rung to start.

While meticulous to a fault, the design of the course is too simplistic to have that much to prepare for. The bulk of their adjustments comes into getting into perfect shape to tackle it with their all.

The bruises of yesterday no longer sting with the same intensity. Healing Pokemon and proper physical therapy, no matter how brief, prove effective for short term pain management.

It's their first run of the day and it shows in the way Mudsdale flies through the course as if it's on wings, leaping clear over an obstacle at the start that was meant to be sidestepped. Gavin, who hadn't directed the horse to do so, can do nothing but hold on tight and brace himself as his teeth meet on the hard landing. Mudsdale recovers quicker than its rider, already ploughing further through the course. Gavin takes a moment to glance behind him, checking on the others.[break][break]

the run starts off pretty standard. everyone gets ready fast and quick, and all that was left was the painful slog of the familiar course to run.

kyle and his smeargle remain in the rear, the motivation from seeing every benefit fernando offers him dissipating quickly. he remains his steady pace with the enthusiasm his pokemon shows, however. it's clearly gotten used to the scene.

"Pace yourself," he made sure to inform Salem not wanting the psychic cat to waste all it's energy in one go. Unlike the last time he was on course with these people Razz didn't have a plan to switch him out as one of the requirements was psych up for this and Salem was the only one who was willing to learn it. The Meowstic waved at him in a 'yeah yeah' away as they headed toward the Padded Pendulums, ignoring the speed they were going Salem kept going pouncing up once to block one coming at his trainer who was just making sure to keep up.

[attr="class","spiral"]Routine makes the attempt stale. It's boring. But it should, in theory, make it easier. Naturally, there's some variance with the timing but generally the same motions of ducking and leaping carry them through the bulk of the course. However, a noticeable fatigue causes them to dwindle. With not much time left to run the course, they never truly recover to peak performance.

At least his Smeargle proves consistent.

Glancing back proves a critical error, as Mudsdale is left to choose between two paths of its own accord. Gavin curses under his breath as he returns his attention to the course. There's nothing to do now but perform as best as they can under the unexpected circumstances, and he urges his mount forward with fervor. He will not be the reason they do poorly. it's still early in the day, but kyle already finds himself tired just from the grindy nature of what they're trying to attempt. he signed up for this however, and he can't blame anyone but himself for this.

his smeargle continues to play bodyguard for kyle as they traverse through the obstacle course. when they reach a slippery part of the course, the smeargle helps his trainer remain on the platform.

'Well this is just the warm up at least,' Razz thinks to himself as he watches Salem. he was so busy trying to show off that he wasn't thinking about pushing forward as hard. Though by taking a look at the others they weren't the only ones faltering. Alright time to focus on the next round which was his 'favorite' he groaned as he watched the projectiles being through through the next part of the course. Salem makes sure to jump onto his trainer's right side as he tells Razz to keep going as he would protect his blind side.

"Save your stamina," he whispers to his Pokemon, picking it up by the scuff of its neck and allowing the Pokemon to piggyback off of him. It's a much slower progression but that means his Pokemon will be better rested for their subsequent attempt.

Gavin keeps his eyes on the track from there on out, no matter what he hears behind him. He is not a man of trust, but he's certainly relying on the individuals in their unit to be capable of rectifying their own mistakes. Currently, he's trying to rectify his own, Mudsdale galloping up a slope filled with obstacles raining down upon them to stop their ascent. They dodge and weave, occasionally hit by the rubber balls, sliding back a few paces only to trudge forward once more.[break][break]

at least they're nearing the end. kyle tries to motivate himself with the little things when the dread of repeating the same course multiple times throughout the day kept on haunting him. he supposed the sooner he's finished with this, the faster they can be done with it.
