Adrian isn't sure how he got stuck babysitting. Probably because the money pledged was too good to pass up for what seemed like such a base task.

Not even an hour into it however and he realized he'd made a grievous error. Luckily for him, he knew a guy. While the kids were pacified with an early treat, he made the call. "Hey, Senon? I need you over here, bro." The phone buzzed...

Although the rugrats were innocent, he had to fight wanting to kick them aside as he struggled towards the door as the doorbell rang aloud...

He'd brought two Large Pizzas, board games, old DVD's and lots of sugar.

Adrian had been sparse on the details but he seemed a little out of his element on the phone. Given the kids where the children of some League higher-up the ordeal or making sure they didn't kill themselves while mommy and daddy were out counted as an actual League Mission.

Seemed like an abuse of power to him but he was from Kanto, where ten and eleven year olds were sent out into the wild to survive on their own wits and determination since the mid 90's. "Who are these crotch spawn?"

The kids were all well behaved but the best way to get the tired out was to get them amp'd up.

"Some dude who's got ties to Bill's PC systems, apparently." Although it seemed less like he had the technical knowledge, and more like he'd put his money on the right horse in the right race. He didn't want to snub their parents in front of their own children, though, so he opened the door and showed Senon through to the dining room. It was more of an entire hall, really...

The gremlins came running once they smelled the melted mozzarella and the fizz of freshly popped soda. "They're alright, just... y'know." Kids.

While they scattered some paper plates and let the kids go to town, Adrian got closer to Senon, offering more insight: "I figured you'd be the perfect man for the job, what with all the baby pokemon..." A playful jab made at a friend.

As the kids gathered around, from the youngest just looking to fill their bellies to the oldest getting over their own awkwardness in the face of strangers in their home Sénon let them help themselves to the pizza while setting up the paper plates and plastic cups.

"You made the right call." He looked around the little faces enact a role to be played as even Adrian seemed like he needed the distraction. "I specialize in breaking down kids into a manageable pile of hair and bones."

When one of the boys propped himself up on the dining table as he stuffed his cute little face, the red head cut in. "Elbows off the table little man." He was firm but didn't yell.

"Who wants Ice Cream and who wants Sherbet?" He gauged the confusion on their faces to see if he needed to explain further.

And thank fuckin' God I did...

Adrian had managed not to outright ruin the kids' impression of him, but exasperation had caught up with him, escaping him in brief sighs that communicated to the kids how bothersome they were. They hadn't reacted belligerently... In fact, some of them seemed crestfallen by it all.

Taking a moment to relax the tension built up in him, smoothing a hand through the slick black bangs hanging over his forehead, he indulged himself a drink of pop. "Sherbet if you're lactose intolerant, kiddies." Not that he'd remembered which it was, but he'd been given that warning.

"Y'all wanna watch a movie later? Or maybe... Have you ever seen a pokemon battle in person before?" Suddenly he was grinning...

Grabbing a slice of pizza he ate it in a few bites. Not realizing he was actually hungry until just now.

It was good thing he'd brought two pizzas. Surely there was food in the house but kids always liked take out better than home cooked meals.

They seemed to be well adjusted enough with some food in them and the looming presence of familiar entertainment.

Tossing a sausage down the family pet he turned his focus back on the kids. "After the movie we're gonna take turns telling prison stories." He pointed to the eldest girl. "You're first tough guy, you look like a repeat offender." Her younger brothers snickered and the levity seemed to disperse through the room.

The kids seemed way more enthused by the talk of movies and stories than any battling, and perhaps that was rightly so. He'd been indulging his own vanity in veering towards that course, so it shouldn't have come as a surprised when the kids favored the more involved caretaker's input...

Maybe, just a little bit, Adrian was jealous. Not because he wanted to win over the kids, but because it was something Senon was clearly better suited for, which might've bruised his ego slightly.

"Alright, what movie should we watch, then?"

Nothing on his radar was particularly kid friendly...

He didn't notice Adrian's slump from the kids not going for the pokémon battle.

It wasn't something he'd considered but now that he had a moment to think about it, were pokémon becoming less interesting to the youth of today?

"Don't mind me, but I say we watch something scary, lots of blood, dismemberment, some real Clive Barker quality body horror." It didn't throw him off in the least that the kids reacted in ranges from squeemish to outright terrified and none of them likely knew who Clive Barker was.

There's a scene in 'Hellraiser' where a guy completely reanimates from being just a dead body. "You guys wanna see that right?" As their tiny faces turned pale the shot Adrian a look to suggest something lighter, to draw the kids back under his control.

Adrian didn't even know who Clive Barker was.

"Woah, woah, woah, easy there. I'm sure they're used to Tele-Tubbies and Barney the Dinosaur." He could see the angle Senon was working at if only because he knew they weren't the sort to make such an outlandish suggestion in sincerity. "Maybe Kindergarten Cop? Arnold's always worth a few good laughs. Right, kids?"

They didn't seem to know who Arnold was, or what Kindergarten Cop was about, but they at least seemed amenable to the idea of a few laughs.

"Whaddaya say, Senon? It's that or Mrs. Doubtfire..." Robin Williams was a godsend.

Picking up what he put down Adrian got the kids back on his side saving them from what Sénon had suggested.

Still, the good cop, bad cop thing he to keep expanding if it were to keep working. "You guys are a bunch of warm milk drinkers." He responded to the tele-tubies bit. Rolling his eyes at the idea of watching any of those films. "Never seen em." He proclaimed dismissively, scarfing down another slice of pizza.

The truth of it was he was actually dying to see 'Kindergarten Cop' once it was brought it. It seemed the kids liked it too given they started explaining it to him without shutting up. Frankly, he was surprised they knew of such an old flick.

"That settles it, then." Adrian would allow them all to finish their food, as even he began to partake of the pizza ravenously, finishing off their first and progressing through the second between belches.

He was covered in grease and crumbs by the end of it, as were the youngest of them. "Is everyone ready to head to the living room now...?"

Although the kids were his primary concern the question was also loosely directed to Senon as he went to clean up their leftovers and help the kids toss out their paper plates, dunking their used glasses in the sink. "Seems clean enough..."

He rinsed them a bit to be courteous, though if it were his place, they'd have been left as they were. Adrian made a last call on pizza before shoving it into the fridge, then heading over two rooms.

"Woah, nice tv. Where's the remote at?"

The little kids were all too excitable and quickly jumped at the chance to retrieve it, handing it over quickly and creating a clamor as they chanted for movie time to begin. Over his shoulder he cast a weary glance at Senon They're ridiculous...

Yet it clearly reminded Adrian of himself and Piper.

As the first scenes played out he couldn't drown out the feeling of nostalgia. It had been so long since he'd seen this movie that he'd still been a kid himself during his last watch. The sheer gravity of the ravages of time made him belt out a critique. "The premise of this movie sounds like dookie." It was apparent the kids were getting comfy considering the amount of "SHHHHHHH's" and pillow attacks he got.

As funny as it was he had to stay in character and pretend to relent to being outnumbered. "Alright. ALRIGHT!" Still he let a bit of smile and chuckle crack through.

As he watched the film took on a more meta meaning for him as he found himself hoping his year as a ranger would take on the high equivalent to Arnie's highs as an actor in the early 90's. Ultimely causion Sénon to find himself wondering when he would have his 'Kindergarten Cop' Moment.

"Shhhh," Adrian hushed Senon promptly.

It wasn't a movie he'd watched much, so it was still a refreshing retrospect, filled with nuggets of humor that he'd forgotten over time. The kids were ecstatic, particularly at the part about the tumor that was 'not a too-ma' after all. Woah.

Adrian didn't remember his face getting so red. Even the kids at his side grew uneasy, clutching at each other. Perhaps they saw something of their parents reflected in this moment. Or maybe not.

As it winded on he'd slowly become disinterested, but the kids were eating it up, and that's what mattered. That Clive guy is sounding better and better... I'll have to look him up sometime.

All in all it was a good showing, but that wasn't much.

Who didn't like 90's Arnie?

When Kindergarten Cop rolled credits the half the kids had already been swept away by the sandman. The other half were teetering on passing out fighting their bodies urge for sleep.

One by one he sent the lot of them (even the ones who'd fallen asleep) to the bathroom to brush their teeth and drain their bladders, any reluctance was met with meager bribery. 2PKD bills were quite rare but still only worth 2PKD and kids valued novelty and the unknown.

When the kids had all done 'Sénon's sleep prep' they returned to the couch to find a big blanket waiting for them to pile under. What Schwarzenegger failed to do, Weaver would finish the job. 'Aliens' was equal parts action, tension science-fiction and pinpoint levity. Enough of a mature flick to make the kids settle in and yet still enough of a lighthearted movie that no one still awake would have nightmares.

Plus with all the shooting, screaming, yelling and explosions and bombast from the original score, once the kids tuned out the television and fell asleep they would be dead to world until morning.

"Isn't this too scary...?" He'd watched other iterations of the franchise and wondered if perhaps it was an error in judgement. But of course, when the kids heard his assertions, they refuted him with bold-faced lies. "Alright then," he'd shrug.

Luckily many of them were beginning to experience droopy eyes, and the volume wasn't so blaringly loud as to rouse them from their drowsy state, allowing them to be lulled into a sense of security before eventually passing out beneath the covers.

He'd managed to slither away from the movie long enough to attack the leftover pizza again in earnest, huddling over the microwave while it reheated, hoping the parents would be back soon.

Hopefully they don't freak with Senon here...
