The memorial, overlooking the crater that was once the Mauville Power Plant, was on a cliff far removed from the site of incident. This part of the land had been untouched by the Xurxitree's cable limbs, which still lay splayed across the territory afar. It hadn't even hosted bloodshed of any kind. But it had paid witness to the chaos nonetheless. And now it served as a means for others to come and imagine that chaos for themselves... and to give thanks to the heroes who had died to protect the region.[break][break]

Earl Grey, the ambassador's teacup attendant, gently placed itself atop one of the three memorial stones located at the site. This one read:[break][break]

TO COMMEMORATE THE BRAVE MEN & WOMEN OF THE GALAR REGION, WHO CAME TO THIS FOREIGN LAND IN DUTIFUL SERVICE, AND SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES TO PRESERVE THE STATE OF ITS PEOPLE.

The other two were a memorial for the League trainers who had perished and Talia Bosch herself. Remiel hardly knew any of these people personally. But he had decided to come and pay his respects anyway. He had sent many of these Galarian troops to their death, after all. Even if they had come of their own volition. Many more had survived the ordeal, but the blue-eyed royal still found himself struggling with the concept.[break][break]

With a sigh, he shoved his hands in his pockets and stared at the monument to his native people. Flowers and trinkets adorned it. It was the pictures of individual soldiers that he found somewhat hard to acknowledge.[break]

when rocket and alike required assistance in renovating mauville after the invasion of megalopolans, the redhead decides to snitch. what pokes his curiosity is the aftermath of other places ravaged by the megalopolans. fortunately, he is not in mauville when the carnage happens. he's afraid what would it be if he became one of these galarains who are resting peaceful six feet below hoennian grounds. at least, fortunately, he's not.[break][break]

Remiel's nonchalant expression turns to meet the newcomer when they make their presence known. His words do not fall on deaf ears. Of anyone in this region, the royal ambassador just so happened to be the one most well-informed about the memorial proceedings regarding his fellow Galarians. "The two don't have to be mutually exclusive. In fact, Motostoke has agreed to erect a memorial in respect to its sister city, Mauville."[break][break]

His possessed teacup attendant has already reawakened by this point, floating to attention and approaching the other man with a scrutinizing but polite look. Wading through a puff of smoke from the man's cigarette, the pink Sinistea encircles the man twice before finding itself satisfied. There was no immediate or obvious threat. So the teacup placed itself a few feet ahead of the man instead, and issued a little bow in greeting.[break][break]

The blue-eyed prince, in the meantime, committed himself to turning around to speak to the stranger further. There was something familiar about his face. "I trust you're of Galarian origin yourself?" He inquiries, trusting his sharp ear for accents.[break]

he walks further in-front of the tombstone, breathing in from the stick of tobacco latched on his fingers. “what i mean is, i think most people don't want to die when they visit another region. but i guess that's the influence of a galarian prince for you.”[break][break]

valerio turns to see remiel's eyes, scrutinizing his nonchalance towards the grave of dead galarian warriors. “it's funny how i care now for them even when it has been long since i left our region. i just can't help but feel a little sad for those who wasn't able to return.”[break][break]

Remiel raises a hand in an attempt to stop Valerio from issuing his bow, but the man beats him to the punch. The blue-eyed royal utters a sigh. "There's really no need, but thank you. Your respect is better passed along to the Galarians who died to earn it." He adds, glancing back at the monument.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Earl Grey floats aside as the man draws closer. The Sinistea regards the man's tobacco with disdain, shuddering as it watches a bit of ash crumble and fall from the tip of the cigarette. Smoking was a nasty habit it had been urging its master to kick for years. Thankfully, Remiel only practiced it on very rare occasions. Earl supposed he had his master's level headedness to thank for that.[break][break]

As if jinxed to break it, however, the ambassador suddenly shifts a sharp glare in Valerio's direction. Had he really just suggested the deaths of all these Galarian troops were solely to blame on him? "These men and women volunteered. They knew the risk, and they took it anyway. As a former citizen of Hammerlocke, I would expect you to understand their dedication to king and country better than most, Mister Dachev."[break][break]

He pauses for a moment. Then, suddenly, the recognition in his eyes parts away the glare that had overcome it. "Affiliating yourself with Rocket is a dangerous business, too, you know... but it's not exactly something you're forced into, is it?"[break]

Remiel steps forward, the crunch of leaves beneath his boot preceding the bundle of them that he wipes off the top of the memorial with a sweep of his hand. He shakes said hand clean of the few drops of morning dew that had clung to him afterwards. Then, gently, he taps against the rim of the Sinistea's teacup, prompting it to 'awaken' and spiral up into the air once more.[break][break]

"You can do as you wish, Mr. Dachev," The Sinistea summons a ghostly aura of energy that suddenly expands like a gust of purple air. It blows every remaining leaf off the monument, essentially dusting it clean while a wayward breeze carries what it can into the air with it. As leaves of red, orange, and yellow paint the sky ahead of them, the ambassador turns to regard the executive with his placid gaze. "Or would you count yourself among the dutifully dead so easily?"[break][break]

With not much else to say in that moment, he reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a business card, striding forward to pass it along before walking off with Earl Grey in tow. "Whatever you choose to do, feel free to call that number and arrange an appointment with me. We can talk business or simply have a pleasant tête-à-tête over some tea."[break][break]
