kyle pulls out a pokeball and release a chinchou, holding it in his arms like a plushie. it feels wet and slippery in his hold, but it remains there anyways because he's not sure if it'll be able to light up more things from below that it is when it's above.

it's presence alone makes it able to illuminate more of the area. the darkness from the newly excavated cave gets bearable with the light from the chinchou, although more is needed to actually get a safe passage.

kyle grumbles as he goes on forward, trying not to judge his friends and whatever things they spew out.

"I paid good money for this..." The distaste is evident on her lips as she repeatedly taps the mining helmet she wore, the light it provided giving a dull flicker as though gasping for life. It was her time to shine with making the most of her mining equipment, but it seems like it was just a dud.

A defeated sigh is released as Noelle gives up, instead releasing her galvantula. The large bug immediately clings to the walls, seeming at home within the dark cavern. Its hairy body jolts, fine hairs puffing and frizzling outwards as a DISCHARGE coats its form with a gentle hum. The light crackle of electricity aids in providing a gentle glow of light for them to use. "Onwards!"

When their strong $50 flashlights couldn't pierce the darkness Lucas resorted to his Lanturn. He released the pokemon who, true to their namesake, shone through the darkness and illuminated the way. Bending down Lucas picked up the light pokemon and held it under one arm. Every few seconds he ran a hand across its scales and looked down to check on its health.

“Wonder what's next,” and if the goodies would get better the deeper they would go.

the elite four immediately takes a pokeball and releases the pokemon within as soon as the first signs of danger happen. the arcanine within gets spooked for a moment, like every other dog on earthquakes.

"stabilize with bulldoze," kyle tells his arcanine as he ducks, covers and holds.

his trainer's voice calms the arcanine a bit as it concentrates on its job. he raises his upper body before slamming his front paws to the ground, releasing a shockwave that counteracts the shakes within the cave.

kyle's not sure if it's the right play, but he's channeling his inner hoennian so he has an excuse.

When the ground beneath them began to shake Lucas' hand flew to his fanny pack. With one hand he combed through the fanny packs contents. His eyes dart between the contents and his surroundings, ever vigilant of the falling debris.

Taking a page out of Kyle's book Lucas Lane released a donphan. Mimicking the elite four's arcanine the donphan also used a bulldoze in an attempt to counteract the shaking earth.

Likely against better judgement, Noelle releases her steelix. "I got this," she reassures her group as the massive steel snake struggles to even move with its sheer size. Her eyes squint for a moment, trying to remember if this was Steely or Lixxy. How Kyle managed to differentiate between his mightyena still was a mystery from her. Internally, she apologies to the steel type.

"Sand tomb," she commands, and the pokemon summons a swell of swirling sand from above. Fallings rocks are stopped, their falls blanketed as they're sucked into the sandy cyclone overhead. "Perfect!"

AN ODD, INTACT ARTIFACT reveals itself. Upon further inspection, it seems as if the shards you have excavated are of the same material. This rectangular slab is pulled from the rubble of the cave-in. After being dusted off, one can feel engravings on its back. It reads:[break][break][break]

the arcanine goes back to its pokeball as soon as the quakes stabilize, and is replaced with a glaceon. before he tells it to do its thing, kyle notices an artifact that sticks out from the rest. once he has it on his person, he addresses his pokemon.

"clear shit out with water pulse," he orders his glaceon.

a blast of water strikes against the wall, washing dust and dirt away from whatever treasure stuck out. it clears a part of the wall out, but more effort seems to be needed to actually break through.

he stares at the slab, and then looks at both bailey and noelle. he's not sure if he'd trust both of them with it. his eyes stray towards lucas. as much as he's worse on some points than the other two people with them, he seems like the best option he has for handing the artifact to.

reluctantly, he holds it out for him.

Lucas took a camera out from his bag and began photographing the slab. The moment he'd taken the final photo Kyle extracted the slab from the wall. Lucas cringed slightly as he watched the elite four member's ungloved hands wrap around the artifact.

"Just a moment," Lucas said when Kyle held the artifact out. Bending down he set down the padded carrying case and cracked it open. With gloved hands he'd then take the tablet and place it into the carrying case.

Still driven to delve deeper Lucas released a togepi. Mustering up all its infant strength it conjured up a water pulse that collided with the wall.

"It looks pretty," Noelle comments, the only really information she had to offer as she stares at the ivory slab before it was handed to Lucas. "I could hold it," her complaint sounds more like a whine, perhaps slightly offended that Kyle didn't trust her with it. With a huff and a grumbling complaint under her breath she releases Sheldon, her slowbro. The pokemon yawns, blankly staring at the wall before finally releasing a water pulse. The gush of water adds with the other, aiding in stripping the wall down of dirt and grime as they chip away at it.
