They pushed off from Lilycove around an hour ago, Angelo perched on Volans’s back as they made the trip from one ocean town to the next, swimming at a leisurely pace as he kept track of the time with the rising sun. They didn’t have to be in Mossdeep for some time, scheduled to pick up their next delivery by this afternoon and so the pair were happy to push through the route as they pleased. Angelo’s feet dangle in the ocean as the Gyarados swims, water tickling against the bare skin of legs as he reclines back over the serpent’s spine, watching clouds.

It’s not often that Angelo has to sit and be patient. He’s used to cycling over the region for his job and when he’s on his downtime, he’d much rather go walking or exploring, constantly seeking the next event or something new. It’s no surprise then, that it isn’t long until he grows bored, his legs feeling restless after some time of sitting still, needing something to keep him occupied during the commute. Maybe a little swim wouldn’t hurt…

this kind of training is his first in hoenn. naua has been really excited with swimming with her trainer again, eyes beaming with exhiliration as they cover miles after miles from lilycove. valerio, however, has a different intention in mind.[break][break]

from a not so long distance, it is the splash of water that gets his attention. he turns to peek to see the approaching gyarados and the familiar face that swims by it. he nudges kingdra to follow him as he dives into the shallow water and paddles through the currents. he breaks the ocean surface, attempting to surprise angelo vestri. “heya!”[break][break]

Angelo is in the water, swimming alongside Volans with one hand gripping onto his scales to keep them at the same pace, when he notices a Cramorant bobbing on the surface of the water. He reaches into the bag that he’s left on the Gyarados’s back. Coming to a stop, Angelo takes hold of a pokeball and considers a catch, tossing the sphere in his palm as if testing the weight of a decision.

A familiar face then suddenly bursts out from underwater close to the bird pokemon, almost getting a Cramorant wing in the face as it is startled with a squawk. Angelo throws the pokeball, although it may partly be released from his grip from the surprise invasion than from a clear choice.

“Shit, man. Where did you come from?”

valerio is lucky he swims out of the water a few inches away from the cramorant or else he will be slapped by its wing.[break][break]

he chuckles hard at the other guy's reaction. the redhead tries to comb his wet hair out of his face before responding. “been around the area just when i saw you and decided to give a little surprise.”[break][break]

which is partly true, considering he tricks naua to train so that she can join him searching for remaining traces of the trammels in the nearby town. suddenly, a stone is hurled in his direction: a larvitar tosses a pebble from his tiny hand before he angrily throws it at his direction.[break][break]

“wait,” he turns to the kingdra who suddenly rises out from the water. “girl, hit it with hydro pump!” a powerful blast of water hits the creature before valerio follows with a throw of pokeball.[break][break]

his attention turns back to the other guy.“so what brings you swimming here, too?”[break][break]

This was probably just a coincidence, seeing this guy out here. Still Angelo thinks that their last parting may have ended on a somewhat suspicious note and even though he offered a smile at him, he doesn’t ignore the slight wariness lurking underneath his surface. He was sure they parted ways with a taunt, last time…?

“Oh yeah? Surprised you remember me.” He says with a little laugh as the redhead turns to deal with catching a wild pokemon of his own, wading in the crystal blue waters with a hand running over the smooth scales of his Gyarados, Volans using his tail to keep himself afloat and stationary.

“On my way to Mossdeep,” Angelo responds honestly because what would anyone be able to do with that kind of information. “Thought I’d make the journey a little bit more interesting, don’t think I can sit on my ass cloud watching for the whole the trip. And you? Training again?”

it seems the larvitar is not the only one pissed at the cramorant's squeak, prompting another wild boldore to lunge rocks at him. the kingdra comes to his rescue, hitting the creature again with powerful hydro pump before he captures it.[break][break]

His smile turns a little stiff at the corners but Angelo manages to keep it in place none the less; even if it was tempting to tell him to bugger off. Time? Don’t make him laugh. “One good thing about being a courier I suppose – get to enjoy the view from delivery to delivery.” Speaking of views, there was a Corsola jumping off a rock and into the water, Volans rumbling underneath his hand as if alerting him to the presence of a wild pokemon. That or the Gyarados was irritated. It could be either with him.

“Makes up for the shitty salary.” Angelo fishes in his bag and Volans releases a Hydro Pump of his own, followed swiftly by a pokeball. “And what about you? Someone’s gotta be paying you with a good amount of time yourself. Maybe you could put in a good word for me.”

“Ah, yeah. That would do it.” He agrees as the man tells him that he was unemployed. Angelo guessed that explained why he seemed to be everywhere training. If it were the truth. Still, Angelo raises a brow and chuckles as the title ‘pokemon master’ was passed between them. It was the kind of thing that younger trainers sprouted out, to hear it come out of someone older was just a little odd - like he hadn’t heard him right or something. More power to him though, if that was his dream. Nobody should be ashamed of having dreams.

Angelo swims to retrieve the pokeball he had used to catch the Corsola, diving underneath the waters and breaking the surface again a few seconds later, capsule in hand as he pushed his hair back with the other. “And how’s that going for you? Master status in sight?”

“i'm just a few badges away in challenging the elite four!” he exclaims with excitement, although that is only part of what he is really exhilarated for. having that few badges also entails being qualified for a beast position in rocket, and for him, that's all that matters.[break][break]
