Alarm sounds ring throughout the city, blaring and obnoxious. For the most part, those near the shrine engulfed in flames are already evacuated, standing down the street and watching in horror as the fire ate away at the now-crumbling structure.[break][break]

As it turns out, someone had knocked over one of the lamps and it had caught fire immediately given the dry heat and abundance of fabric decorating the inside. Whatever offerings were within were now toast, literally, and the air was quite acrid in it's bonfire.[break][break]

"Hey, you! Get back, dude, what are you, some kind of white knight hero? Come on, turn around and wait, I'll handle this."[break][break]

Exasperation and concern paints her as more aggressive than intended, and the teenager glumly hands off his bucket of water to the woman. She takes it, dousing one of the windows enough that the flames stop eating at the ledge.[break][break]

And she's just reaching for her belt to retrieve her sparse water-types when she hears someone else coming to the rescue.[break][break]

The fire was clearly visible from the Galarian Embassy, which stood at an impressive six stories tall near the edges of Rustboro City. The temple had been a relaxing sight to turn to while in the midst of paperwork and monotonous phone meetings. To see it in such a way now, however, prompted Remiel to immediately rise from his seat the moment he took notice of it. His Sinistea swooped in to attention.[break][break]

"Mr. Calcifet! Mister Calcifet... ? Sir?"

By the time his assistant's voice came from the intercom on his desk, desperate to share the bad news, he had already prompted Earl Grey to create a shadowy portal and travel with him to the scene of the disaster. There was no time to waste.[break][break]

Shiny Dracovish (Strong Jaw): Fishious Rend

"I wish we'd reunited under better circumstances, Stormy," The black-haired royal spoke, his voice calm in contrast to the hectic situation. His hand unclips a luxury ball from his belt as he steps forward, then he stops to look at her before casting the ball forward. "It is nice to see you again, however." From a burst of golden light, a familiar Dracovish emerges: indeed, the same one they had battled long ago on a mysterious island.[break][break]

As the unblinking beast moans, gently stomping its feet on the ground below, Remiel turns back to the flaming shrine ahead and points forward. "Advance with Fishious Rend, Baal. Tread carefully." He commands, prompting the abomination to shiver before stepping ahead into the engulfing flames. Using its uncanny ability to self-produce H2O, its gills began to bubble before bursting with water and dousing the flames in a wide arc.[break]

Stormy's attention snaps over her shoulder and she hesitates, the three Pokemon pop out of their capsules. While she is momentarily stunned, her Pokemon are not - the Vaporeon in particular jumps to action, spurring the Palpitoad and Seismitoad to follow her. They waste no time trying to drown the flames, searching for the source.[break][break]

"Remiel?"[break][break]

Her eyebrows knit together in momentary confusion, but she doesn't stop the man from stepping in to help her.[break][break]

"It's.. it's good to see you too."[break][break]

The woman stands aside as the man's Dracovish - a Pokemon she recognizes - pushes forward with a geyser of water. Combined with the three other Pokemon, they seem to contest the intense flame. [break][break]

His Dracovish's unusually large size prevents it from safely entering the hallways and smaller rooms of the temple. So, following its master's orders, it sticks to the outdoor areas, gardens, and larger rooms in an effort to keep the flames from spreading to the surrounding wilderness. Where its FISHIOUS REND cannot reach, however, Stormy's pokémon appear to have covered.[break][break]

Though he had plenty of questions brewing in his mind, wondering what had brought Stormy to Rustboro in the first place or why she hadn't called him, the cobalt-eyed prince refrained from delving into the niceties and instead chose to focus on the emergency at hand. "Arson or accident?" He flatly inquires, crossing his arms as he turns to regard the crowd amassing on the side of the street with them.[break][break]

Where even her own Pokemon seem to bend to the heat, Stormy pushes through it unabashed and unafraid. In fact, the woman almost seems to glow, thriving in the element despite its intensity.[break][break]

She chooses to abandon niceties as well in favor of pursuing the still-burning lamp. At this point, the candles and such that had been burning innocently were melted away, their wicks snuffed out by molted wax.[break][break]

But the lamp she had found, despite the handle being too hot, is now held in her hand. The smashed glass is strewn across the ground and she kicks it with her boot.[break][break]

"It was an accident, from what I understand - and here's the culprit. Too many open flames in a temple full of flammable objects.. it's recipe for disaster."[break][break]

Vaporeon spits up a thin stream of water, snuffing the lantern. [break][break]

Remiel is a bit more cautious than Stormy to enter the scene of the blaze. His brief hesitation is also marred with confusion as to why she would step forward so boldly... until he recalls reports of her avatar-dom. Deciding the path they followed had been soaked enough by Baal when he'd passed by, it wasn't too long before the black-haired royal followed along.[break][break]

Her orange glow captures his gaze with fascination as they enter the smoky and fire-lit temple. When she lifts the steaming metal handle of a candle-holder, the man merely blinks as he observes the lack of pain-filled screams and burn injuries. His Sinistea suddenly encircles him, snapping him out of his stupor before coercing some of the surrounding flames to glow blue and simply dissipate with its WILL-O-WISP.[break][break]

"Yet this is how most temples operate," Remiel laments, bending down to pick up a half-scorched scroll. "Where have the monks gone? They're typically the first line of defense for this sort of thing..." He adds, unfurling the scroll to gaze upon its contents.[break][break]

Something, something, Ho-Oh. Something, something, reincarnation.[break]

"Remy, stay back, it's way too hot in here for you."[break][break]

Concern is thick in her throat, likely unaided by the smoke in the room. She turns to watch the man's Sinistea absorb the flames with will-o-wisp, and the thought fascinates her. With one hand, she reaches out to control them. It doesn't work as perfectly as imagined, and she eventually reaches for another pokeball to bring out a Houndoom. The Pokemon's flash fire begins immediately absorbing the nearby flames, powering him up and protecting them.[break][break]

"They evacuated when the fire grew too intense, and I happened to be in the area to lend a hand."[break][break]

Stormy steps closer to Remy if only to shield him with her own frame. Fortunately, it appears that they are successfully soaking the temple.[break][break]

Stormy's concern is appreciated, and certainly not unfounded. Since entering the room, the young royal had been forced to cover the lower half of his face with an arm and suppress a coughing fit from the thick smoke that lingered. Even after Earl Grey had dissipated many of the flames that remained, Remiel could hardly keep his eyes open without blinking or tearing up a little. Stormy's Houndoom, however, and Stormy herself, greatly aided in lessening the severity of it all.[break][break]

"You've learned some new tricks since we've last seen each other," He remarks, gently setting the half-burnt scroll down upon one of the only (and miraculously) unburnt pieces of furniture in the room. He turns back around to find she has stepped closer, and feels the warmth radiating from her skin like a furnace. "The monks were lucky to have you so close by."[break][break]

Then, suddenly, a terrified scream rings out in the blackened night sky.

With little to no hesitation, Remiel rushes outside onto the temple's zen garden, looking up to see a monk stranded upon its highest tower. The man scrambles to take off his outer layer of robes as they are slowly eaten away by flames. He tosses it off the edge of the tower, and scrambles to find an exit next... only to realize every way out has been cut-off. In an attempt to save a bundle of scrolls he had tied together and set down by his feet, he had unwillingly trapped himself into a terrible, agonizing fate.[break][break]

But, thankfully, not one that Remiel and Stormy couldn't prevent.

Turning to the long-haired lass, Remiel wipes the soot from his cheek and smiles a little. "You still trust me?" He asks, gesturing for his Sinistea to come. With a snap of his fingers and a point, Earl Grey is prompted to create a shadowy portal on the sand at his feet. Staring into it offers a hazy view of the night sky... and, just by it, a seemingly upside-down view of the burning tower as well.[break][break]

He supposed asking whether she trusted Earl Grey was the more fitting inquiry. But he had come up with the plan. And she was the only one who could save the monk in time with those strange abilities of hers.[break]

The scroll lays limp against the miraculously unharmed fabric of the couch, a bizarre sight in the midst of disarray, smoke, and ash. Their thoughts are quickly interrupted before Stormy could take any note of how unbelievably and uncomfortably warm she is, too warm for Remy to be comofrtable - when someone shrieks. It is like ice down her spine and she chases after Remiel, coming to a halt with a gasp as she spies the situtation.[break][break]

"Oh.. what a fortunate, stupid man."[break][break]

She shakes her head, but even still she feels an uncomfortable pressure weigh on her shoulders. There was hardly enough time for her to reach him in time, but before she could step forward and make her attempt - Remiel stops her with an ominious ask. Before her very eyes, the man's Sinistea opens up a portal big enough for her to step through. Her eyes meet his, brows creased.[break][break]

"Of course I do."[break][break]

And then she steps through and the world lurches beneath her, the feeling of falling abundantly clear as she is launched and dropped by the tower. Panic encourages her to focus, and fiery wings sprout from her back, unfurling and curling, desperate to carry her. She reaches for the man, and the aggressive flap of her manifested wings encourages the scrolls to fly, catching wind and being carried away.[break][break]

But they were not burning. Only the man's arm was where her hand grasped his forearm. [break][break]

"Hold on.. a little bit.. longer!"[break][break]

He's screaming though, because she, too, is too hot to hold onto. The woman pants as she carries him off to the side and to safety, stumbling to her knees as the man runs away to collect his bearings and stare at her incredulously. [break][break]

Earl Grey is catapulted with her towards the tower, as the use of its PHANTOM FORCE compels him to tag along for it to work. Whereas Stormy utilizes the power of a legendary to carry the stranded monk to safety, however, the little butler turns its focus to the airborne scrolls after it is sure its assistance isn't needed by the woman any longer. Using its ghostly telekinesis, it pulls the tied-up bundle of scrolls down from the sky and sinks into another shadowy portal. In the blink of an eye, it reemerges in front of Remiel with the shrine's records in tow.[break][break]

Having gawked at Stormy's daring (and, quite frankly, amazing) rescue, the young ambassador makes haste to regroup with her after securing the scrolls. Passing through the temple grounds, he is happy to notice the worst of the flames have been doused by the combined efforts of their pokémon. Just as he exits and finds Stormy crouched on the ground outside, the Rustboro firefighters finally arrive. A small troupe of Squirtle, Buizel, and Piplup emerge from a long red truck alongside their firefighters, and immediately they move to contain the situation.[break][break]

"That was Moltres' power... wasn't it?" Remiel asks, crouching down beside her to offer his hand. The other tucks the bundle of scrolls in his possession carefully under his arm. He will return them to the head monk later. "Perhaps we've earned ourselves some R&R tomorrow for our heroic efforts today, hm? It seems to have taken its toll on you."[break]
