It had been some time since he'd seen Raziel Beckett in person. Their latest encounter had paired them together in search of a fugitive in the woods. In fact, every encounter before that involved an assignment or mystery of some sort as well. But today would finally mark the exception.[break][break]

The Calcifet Winery and Draciary didn't look the same as when he'd first commissioned for it to be built. War had ravaged the estate and its acres of land during the conflict at Meteor Falls, which loomed over the property just to the east. Needless to say, the crop hadn't exactly come in well this past year. Quite the opposite, actually. The grounds were currently being tested for 'strange and unusual' residue left behind from the war.[break][break]

Thankfully, Remiel found some relief in the fact that had reconstruction had been completed. The Draciary could once again home the multitude of dragon (and dragon-like) pokémon he had rescued, captured, or purchased. And the winery estate itself was suitable to live in again. Running water, stable electricity, good wi-fi... no massive hole in the ceiling. It was splendid.[break][break]

Having proposed a tour of his estate (and the draciary nearby) on their last assignment, Remiel had sent Razz a letter of invitation. And, wearing a dirt-stained pair of trousers and a thin beige shirt that had clearly been worked in, he waited for the lad to arrive on the estate's front patio area. The young man would find him sitting upon an empty barrel there, one leg folded across another as he read a book and sipped wine.[break][break]

Earl Grey would be the first to greet Razz when he approached, chiming out like the clinking of a glass as it presented itself and bowed. Remiel looked up to regard the man before bookmarking his literature and hopping off the wooden barrel. "Just in time for lunch, Kingsman." He noted, bowing slightly in greeting.[break]

Razz was a tad nervous about coming here. The ranger had never met with Remiel outside of mysteries, or jobs and things of that nature. Sure he agreed to come when they had their last meeting, but he was still a bit nervous meeting with someone outside work related things. Though it was the new year and everything, and he was going to try with the whole ‘do new things’ promise he made himself. [break][break]

With Salem on his shoulder as per usual, Razz walked onto the vineyard, honestly already highly impressed. Though considering his current living near anything was impressive. He paused when the tea cup came to him, a bit surprised at first before he recalled what it was. Galar pokemon were still new to him, and the Sinistea was no different. He gives thanks for the welcome before following along toward the Galarian Ambasador. [break][break]

“Afternoon Calcifet, uhh thank you for the invite,” he gives a small bow of thanks, Salem follows suit.

"The pleasure's all mine," Remiel responded, offering the cat on Razz's shoulder a polite nod afterwards. "And nice to see you, too, Salem. I trust your trip here went smoothly?" He turns to set the book down on the barrel, then gestures for his guest to follow as he escorts them towards the estate entrance.[break][break]

"The war has riled up the local wildlife living in the forests here," The ambassador informs him, watching as his Sinistea floats past them, opening the set of wooden double-doors leading into the regal estate's foyer. "Their agitation put our reconstruction efforts in peril several times, in fact. But we've made efforts to restore their habitat and calm them down."[break]

At the question Salem attempts to answer, goes on and on about how long the flight was over here cause they live so far away. Along with one thing or another, but as Razz knows not everyone can get a gist on the cat's meows Razz just opts to answer for him, "He says it was fine," he simplifies to earns a small hair tug from the Meowstic but it makes Razz chuckle as he follows along. [break][break]

“From the poisoning, or just natural aggravation from most of their own homes being destroyed?” Razz asked as there could be multiple problems that could cause it. With his job he sees plenty of reasons for it.

Razz's bizarre ability to understand the mutterings of his pokemon surfaces once more, and Remiel can only imagine what the Meowstic truly said in its rambling. "Splendid," Remiel responds. "My Salem typically throws a fuss about the amount of time it takes to travel here." He closes his comment with a hint of a smile as they enter past the open doors at the Sinistea's behest.[break][break]

Glittering with firelight, a classic chandelier hangs high above at the center of the foyer. A pair of staircases flank them from against the western and eastern walls. Art decorates the entirety of the room in the form of paintings, statues, vases, and expertly woven rugs. Looking up, it is clear there are a multitude of rooms on the second floor to explore. But Remiel takes them forward instead, towards a spacious kitchen area large enough to be a living room.[break][break]

The actual living room waits past a doorway to their left upon entering the kitchen. It soon becomes clear that there is business to be had in the kitchen, however, as Remiel retrieves an apron hanging against the coat hook in the stone wall and places it on. "Oh, both, I'm sure. Though the poison that has seeped into the soil is much harder to remove than the latter." He answers, tying the apron behind his back before gesturing towards one of the stools against the kitchen island. "Please, take a seat. Do you like pizza?"[break][break]

Taking steps towards a lit pizza oven embedded into the stone wall, the reason for his inquiry becomes clear.[break]

A chuckle escapes him as it seems the other has spent enough time with the cat to joke of their musings. The cat like to do things, and traveling to them was the boring part unless he could watch something. Not that Razz would allow his phone to be used while flying, he only had the one. Salem blows a raspberry at the prince as they follow along. [break][break]

Both are in awe at the sheer size of the entrance alone, the Meowstic can't help but pop off the ranger's shoulder as he walks on all four on the rugs for pure curiosity. And gasp! they were so comfy! He rolls around a tad but Razz is quick to pick him up, "I don't think Mr Calcifet wants Meowstic fur on his rug," Razz scolds lightly as the psychic pokemon pouts and flops in his trainer's hold in protest. [break][break]

Thankfully they didn't weigh much as he followed the other into the kitchen area as he explained the difficulty of the poison. "I have some grass pokemon that can possibly help with that if you like," Razz informs knowing he's done this job what feels like a hundred times since the war. One more wouldn't hurt. [break][break]

At the kitchen he can't help but be impressed again, still honestly surprised by the size of the home. He really wished he had other words for this but for now he'll try not to seem like too much of a bum to the other as he takes a seat as instructed. "Uhh yes thank you, did you do this all on your own?"

"Oh? Well, there's plenty of area to cover, so yes. I'll gladly take you up on that offer." Remiel replies, pulling out a pair of heat resistant gloves from a kitchen drawer and placing them on. "Some of the rangers in Rustboro are worried the source of the poison has yet to be found. I'd wager there is an oozing corpse hidden in some crevice somewhere... but that's not the kind of talk we should have before we eat, hm? My apologies."[break][break]

Reaching for a pizza peel tray off to the side of the traditional-style oven, the prince lifts its metal door with one hand and exposes the roaring flame (and doughy, well-cooked pizza) inside. He proceeds to carefully slide his pizza peel beneath it. "This estate had been abandoned for decades when I found it. I hired a team of architects and designers to help me restore it to its former glory, while making some personal additions that reflect my family's ancestral home in Kalos." He adds, slowly pulling the pizza out.[break][break]

Its rich aroma fills the kitchen in a gentle instant.[break]

Leave it to him that even on a social visit, he'll some how make it relate back to work. Not that he was complaining, as it felt more the norm than anything else. Razz does try to ponder for a moment on the possibility of what it could be. "I'll see if I can get any information about it, but outside that I'd be happy to help you out, just point where," he smiles not bothering to mention the possible corpse as he knows that wouldn't go well before eating. [break][break]

As the pizza is taken out of the oven and it's aroma fills the air, Salem seems to wake from his weighted state and perks up in Razz's arms as he looks at the pizza. There is a shine in his eyes as he seems to be exited, he points at the pizza before himself to ask if he can have a piece. The cat trying to look the part of a non-mischievous pokemon he was. [break][break]

"Impressive, what do you plan to turn this place to?" Razz can't help but ask with curiosity, though he does perk with interest about the Kalos comment. "I thought you hailed mostly from Galar?"

Razz's duty to his job was admirable. Remiel, too, was amused that they naturally fell back into the gravity of work despite the obvious social visit. Then again, they'd only ever been working together before today. Pulling themselves out from even discussing it wasn't something so quickly attainable. In fact, he doubted they ever would. It made for good conversation anyway. And, in that sense, the two of them should feel blessed for having such passion for their jobs, the ambassador supposed.[break][break]

"Well, the estate itself has already become the winery I intended it to be," Remiel answers. With a nod, he prompts Earl Grey to take care of the roaring flame in the pizza oven as he carefully carries the large pizza towards the spacious kitchen island. "We've just finished sowing the land with new grape seeds for the year. The crop we had previously was destroyed by the war at Meteor Falls." The mountains loomed just to the east of the property. Razz would have seen it flying in.[break][break]

As the pink Sinistea manipulates a host of things with its ghostly telekinesis to slowly douse the flames in the oven, its master finally sets down the pizza before removing the pizza peel from beneath it and placing it away. He chuckles when he sees the Meowstic so eager for a piece, but holds up a single gloved finger to pause it from its excitement. He then proceeds to removing said gloves to go grab plates and a wide pizza cutter.[break][break]

"I'm half Kalosian on my father's side," He explains. "When you're born into the royal family, however— or married into it, for that matter— they strip you of anything foreign. It's all part of very ancient, and sometimes complicated, royal traditions."[break]

Razz listens with interest on what the other plans to do. So far he's only ever listened to one other person about them, so he was curious to hear about another. This was a thing friends did sorta of right? He was possibly jumping the gun on the use of friend right now, but he was trying to keep up with that new year promise thing. Double his friend group! He'll go from 1 to 2 in no time at this rate. Remiel nods in agreement to Razz's view on things. It had been a rather unfortunate casualty of war, sure. But a lot more had lost a lot worse. And not all of them had the funds, time, or manpower to recuperate as he had. "A mass of fiery rock had plunged through the foyer we just walked through," He admits. "Really? After walking through it I couldn't even tell there was damage," Razz looks up slightly in thought as he thinks back to only a few minutes ago. "Though I suppose its no surprise you have the resources to clean up well"[break][break]

"Lose the right to your name?" razz does tilt his head in some confusion at this, "What do you mean of that?" [break][break]

Razz ponders a bit on just how hard it is to do so. He could relate to just how hard it was to get out of family. He lost his name, parents that he at once time wished nothing for but their approval, and even his face was gone all to break free from it. Just how much would the prince lose should they ever try to break their own? Salem seems to give him a psychic push to try and draw the Ranger's attention once more. The talk of family obviously drawing his thoughts into deep places he shouldn't be thinking of. [break][break]

Placing the cutter's blade in the middle of the pizza, Remiel grabs it by both handles firmly and gently begins to rock it from side-to-side. Dough and pepperoni give way to the blade as he issues this even, crisp cut. He lifts the blade slowly afterward, allowing the gooey cheesy sticking to it a chance to drip down and return from whence it came, before angling it a few degrees differently and cutting again. Perfectly proportionate slices begin to steadily appear.[break][break]

He pauses from his work to look up and offer the briefest of smiles at Razz. "That means we've done a splendid job of it, then." He proudly states. The foyer had looked a touch different before the fiery debris of rock had come crashing into it. But now, through its reconstruction, Remiel had to say he quite preferred the current version. The conversation soon moves on to the more dramatic topic at hand, however. Talk of his home, and all its furnishings and renovations, would have to wait until later.[break][break]

Abdication. The word had come from his mouth so freely, and with no noticeable weight that dragged his mood into its uncomfortable gravity. But, strangely enough, it seemed to do all that and more when spoken by a close second-party. The series of events that had transpired to get him there flashed through his mind like a chaotically mashed up collection of memories and still images. "No... in fact, they made it quite difficult for me to leave. But when you're determined enough to make a life for yourself, you can do anything."[break][break]

He has yet to realize he's stopped rocking his pizza cutter as he stares off into space. But then he blinks, and snaps out of it. "Ah, yes... lunchtime."[break]

Watching the prince slowly cut the pizza is utter agony to the cat. It was just quick cut up and them all the nom noms, why must they prolong the waiting by making sure all the cuts were even? It was dumb! Not that the cat was going to portray any of this, but the way he just stares at the pizza cutter may start to get a bit unnerving if one payed too much attention. [break][break]

"Well the hard work shows, so very nice," he tried to compliment before noting the way the other seems to drift off a bit. Razz bumps Salem's bottom as he gestures for the cat to look at Remiel. The Meowstic signs to him a simple 'like you,' which makes him wonder a bit if this is what it felt like on the outside looking in. "I think I can understand that, I mean I'm no royal or anything but being cut off from the only family you know is hard none the less I'm sure." he does ponder though just what the other did though to be so well off. He could make a guess that it was a class thing, or perhaps age, but he couldn't be sure. [break][break]

This is when Salem interjects and starts with his meows, Razz does what he can to pay attention to both tone and the hand movements the Meowstic made as it was clearly trying to give his infinite wisdom to the two. It doers make razz chuckle enough that he forgets to translate.
