Coming down from the Fiery Path into the Jagged Pass during his weekly walkabout, it was a sharp right into Route 112 and beyond that Lavaridge Town.

It was his 19th weekly visit to the Fiery Path to stretch his legs and catch fire-types.

In all his visits all nineteen times, he'd never once taken the right to Route 122. He flew away on the wings of a Salamence, or descended the path and made and a left back to Route 111 and usually Mauville after that.

Internally disturbed and jumping at the chance for distraction work. He responded to an emergency text from Ranger Dispatch requesting a response to a field issue at the city-end of Route 112. ". . ."

After nineteen lefts he finally took a right walked into the sunset.

And that sunset happened to be Stormy Silph herself. Or rather, Stormy Silph facing off against a great lard of a Pokemon quite literally blocking what could have been a beautiful sunset. For some reason, the sleeping Pokemon had decided to set down and catch some z's right in the dead center of a narrow path. It hadn't been an 'emergency' in the same sense as it would have been had it been blocking the train tracks into Rustboro.. or something.. but.[break][break]

"Well shit, dude. Right here? You had to conk out right here?"[break][break]

Footsteps behind her prompt her to check the time and her notifications, and she glances over her shoulder briefly. However, her brief glance doesn't do her justice, and she promptly does a double-take. Surprise is written on her face and she breaks into a wide smile.[break][break]

"Oh hey! Senon! It's good to see you, man!"[break][break]

Approaching the end of Route 112 he clearly see the problem and was internally relieved it wasn't one of great severity, only great inconvenience.

One surprise gave way to another when he came across a familiar face already on the scene.

He hadn't seen Stormy Silph since the funeral of Alexander Stone and that day had been particularly turbulent for her. She seemed in good spirits and he still had just enough empathy to be happy for her. It was only then that it came back to him that in one of the two conversations they'd ever had she mentioned liking volcanoes.

Did she live in lavaridge?

When she smiled at him, his instincts told him to smile back but the nerve synapses seemed to misfire. All he offer was a head nod and an unexpected "Stormy." After the funeral it felt natural to let go of the "Ms. Silph" stuff.

He'd rather not have been so easily read but there was nothing compelling him to hide his feelings or rather the numbness, where his feelings should have been.

She put on such a display because she had to. She had to be strong, to put on a brave face, and to continue fighting. The smile she presents for him, however, is unrestrained and honest. Though that surprise and relief quickly dissolve into concern given his flat response. The woman hesitates, unsure at first how to proceed. It is the way he nods, and the way he seems devoid of surprise, excitement, emotion that catches her off-guard.[break][break]

Where he had been a comfort to her at the funeral, and even before then when he'd escorted her to Kanto - she could see now that she didn't offer that same sort of bond for him. Whether or not that was true was not up for debate, given the crease of her brows and the way her lips part to display her concern.[break][break]

"Senon? Did something happen? Is Cait alright? Are you alright?"[break][break]

Stormy steps forward to break the thin sheet of glass holding her hostage. As it's mirage shatters, she approaches the man quickly, reaching to place her hand on his arm and squeeze.

Her grasp and squeeze forced a bit of color back into the grayscale of his senses.

That's right.

It was Stormy whom he broke the touch barrier with when she suffered out that gathering of those mourning. He forced her to let him in, if only just enough that her emotional wound could be opened enough to be properly cleaned and dressed.

What he suffered now was much less serious than a love lost and so her touch was enough to spur him along.

Apathy formed to dissatisfaction, sadness smoothed out into stoicism. He lacked the will to make himself seem happy when he wasn't but he remembered that his pains didn't have to be everyone else's. If a rock could bleed without anyone else feeling sorrow for it because it was a rock; then he would a rock.

"Cait?" His features softened into concern at the mention of her, before reverting back. "Cait is fine." He kept his troubles away from her as best he could. He couldn't worry Cait with what she couldn't fix. "I'm fine, just getting over a tough week."

He placed his hand over hers; alive again enough to try to reassure her everything was under control.

He reacts when she touches him, and it is the path of change across his features that spurs her to let go. She watches him contort, rather than relax. Watches his expression turn to stoicism. But before her hand really detaches and she could stare at him with discomforted concern, his hand presses against hers, holding her against him.[break][break]

"I don't believe you."[break][break]

She pulls her hand out from under his, letting it hang limp at her side. At some point, they clench into a fist, her brows meshed together as she studies his face, desperate to uncover something yet unseen. Something he wasn't telling her. [break][break]

"As soon as we deal with this, I'm taking you out for dinner. My treat."[break][break]

In the midst of their combined turmoil, the giant behind him is still slumbering. It's loud snores are earth-shaking, rattling her to her core with every intake of breath. She glances back to it, letting out an exhausted sigh.[break][break]

"You wouldn't happen to have a flute on you, do you?"

Not making it very far in convincing her that he was fine he put it away for now.

He appreciated her attempt to console him. He appreciated that she even noticed and asked.

It didn't change the fact that he hadn't come here for any other reason than to solve problem of a what was apparently a pokêmon blocking the path leading into Lavaridge. "No flute." He cleared his voice, its cadence was slower and the timber was off.

He barely sounded like himself until he cleared with a force pulse of pressure and air.

"I was just gonna..." Grabbing a pokéball from his hip he activated the release button and pointed the red stream of light outwards at the ground.

Stormy clicks her tongue, hands on her hips, when he says he doesn't have a flute. Her problem-solving is slower, perhaps a side-effect of being concerned for Senon's wellbeing. She catches herself glancing at him more frequently, as if trying to see something new that he doesn't want to show her. [break][break]

But instead, he releases a Kadabra and she exclaims:[break][break]

"Aha!"[break][break]

Before reaching for her own pokeball. Her Delphox pops into existence, and she brandishes her wand with an air of regality. The Pokemon pauses, glancing back at Stormy curiously.[break][break]

"Wonderful idea! We'll just lift him up and move him off to the side!"[break][break]

And Stormy waves for Delphox to do just that, though the dual-type waits for Senon's Kadabra to begin as well.

TELEPORT. He was going to have Kadabra TELEPORT the Snorlax out of the way by just a few meters, maybe put it under the shade of the trees nearby.

Stormy's idea took longer but there was nothing in him able to reject her offering to help, to work together. He supposed if they were each other's crutches enough, they would become friends in their own right.

So it was that Kadabra was made to put its psychic powers with her Delphox.

It took a few moments for the two to get their minds in sync but before long they had Snorlax 'light as feather, stiff as a board'. Moving him off into the grassy plains a short distance away. The Ranger was elated to have the job done but a new issue remained.

Stormy wanted to get to the bottom of his pitiful demeanor.

Every rash impulse he had told him to apologize and get away with the TELEPORT he hadn't used before. Yet, something kept his ten toes on the ground. Whatever was eating him, he could handle it alone. He always had handled it alone with nothing but time and his pokémon to support him.

The warmth in her offer kept him from leaving her with the cold shoulder. It was like moving the snorlax; he could have done it alone but something in him wouldn't let him reject her earnest desire to help. To fix problems as a team.

Less dejected in his expression he was still withdrawn but clearly willing to work with her. "Are there any Unovan-style Diners in Lavaridge?"
