The words 'I hate you' swim in the bottom of her glass, swirling around and around and around until they start to blur together. She raises the glass to her lips to drink, but the glass is jostled by a hand reaching out to yank her forward. Pulled from her seat unceremoniously, she is quickly assimilated onto the dance floor alongside people.[break][break]

Right, she had come here for a birthday party.[break][break]

Someone she'd barely met but had gravitated towards. She had become accustomed to familiarity and belonging to the point where names to faces blurred together. The drink in her hand helped, too.[break][break]

"Come on, Stormy, it's a party, you're supposed to be dancing!"[break][break]

She's given a second-wind, and the dread in the bottom of her glass is downed in one final gulp. It burns the back of her throat something fierce, but her stubbornness burns deeper. Stormy's hand folds into her friends and they make their way through the noisy bar to act stupid in public.[break][break]

How many bars had they been to at this point? She'd lost count. [break][break]

Fernando has no intention of running into Lulu Flint or kim cole-essam. Instead, he rather remain alone, hidden in the unseen bustle of fleeting bodies and people too preoccupied with their own issues to mingle with strangers. The concealed Councilman hides in plain sight, only sporting a pair of shades to keep his face unfamiliar to those the glance upon his features. Only the bartender can really tell, having seen him here many times before, but the constant push and pull of weekend barhoppers keep them too busy to shoot the shit.

"Fuck."

Fernando holds his cigarette in his opposite hand today, an off habit forced by a unique circumstance. Underneath his long sleeve is the intermediate patch job of his backdoor surgery. Bandying between a mild buzz of nicotine and several shots keeps him afloat. It numbs his brain enough to ignore the excruciating ache left by Jirachi's void.

She shouldn't have been able to recognize him, let alone pick him out in a sea of grinding bodies and alcoholic stupor. But she does, just as fingers brush against the skin of her arm to leave a wake of raised skin. His sunglasses work in his favor, but they are unusual given the dark outside and the lack of sunglasses on anyone else.[break][break]

There is warm breath against her neck as someone brushes her dark hair away from her shoulder. But she oozes a conflicting mixture of confidence and discomfort, shying away from the too-familiar touch. Whoever has pressed against her to join her in her dance is quickly abandoned in favor of him.[break][break]

She is not, however, the one to approach him directly. Her friend follows her distracted gaze and her interest is piqued. Without concern, the nameless woman approaches the sunglasses-clad man, drink in hand. Stormy hesitates, unwilling to intervene nor look away.[break][break]

"Can I buy you a drink, handsome?"[break][break]

She catches him unguarded. There’s too much noise here. The flickering lights and constant shift makes it impossible for him to stay on top of everything. His glasses rattle against the bridge of his nose. He doesn’t take them off.

“Depends.” A sly smile peeks out from the corner of his lips. It’s not often someone else makes the first move and considering he doesn’t recognize her, it means she’s fair game. Picking up someone wasn’t his intention but who’s he to say no to a free pass.

“Can you keep up when second rounds on me?”

The woman waits expectantly, though she seems pleasantly surprised by his response. Her cheeks are rosy with drink and attraction and she is not at all subtle with the way her eyes wander.[break][break]
The woman's mess of curls are past their expiry date, falling loose and unkept as a result of the party. She turns to direct him to the bar, dark hair falling over her shoulder in the same frame her eyes find his.[break][break]

"I suppose we'll find out, won't we?"[break][break]

It appears that she still has her own half-finished drink in her hand. She waves for Fernando to take his pick.[break][break]

"What's your poison?"[break][break]

Stormy has since abandoned her post on the dance floor, curiosity getting the better of her. There is a twinge of something more beneath the surface, though it is not something she is yet aware of or willing to act upon. Instead, the woman regards the pair with some degree of concern, the alcohol in her blood making her face become locked that way.[break][break]
