They were heading to deliver some excess eggs to a pokemon professor who lived in Littleroot Town. Together with Rowan they'd make the journey, and it reminded him of a number of incidents where he'd eloped with someone on the back of a Corviknight. It was like an unspoken tradition; Corviknight's pokeball was already in-hand.

Except now he wondered if it wasn't bad luck. Surely Adrian knew he could be a little bit superstitious, but did it truly go so far? He opted to drive, for the record.

The leather upholstery of his vehicle was warm to the touch as they coasted along past Mauville, making for a cozy ride. His eyes flicked to his right. "Eggs okay, Ro?"

Every time he hit a bump or pothole, he'd worry for their precious cargo, but Rowan had them tucked away securely and offered every affirmation they'd be fine. Even so he drove slowly, eliciting a few honks from those behind him.

“Hmm?” Admittedly, Rowan had dozed off a bit due to the nature of their journey. It wasn’t that he found being with Adrian or transporting the eggs boring, but car-rides always had a habit of making him sleepy, especially when someone was driving this slow. “Hold on, let me check.” Adjusting his seating position, Rowan leaned over the passenger seat to look into the back seat of the vehicle. “How are they, Valor?” The Rookidee chirped cheerfully from his perch seated upon the arm of the blanketed basket, looking over the eggs as though they were his own clutch. “Seems to be fine, he has it covered.”

Settling back into his own seat, Rowan found it rather endearing how protective Adrian was over the eggs. “You’d make a good mom.” An elbow gently nudged his boyfriend with playful intent, not able to pass up such a good opportunity to make fun of him. “How did you get this job anyways?” He didn’t know much about Pokemon Professors, but Rowan couldn’t imagine they’d so easily contract research related work to total strangers. It wasn’t like they trusted children with their life's work, right?

"Cool." Maybe letting other pokemon watch over eggs without knowing their dedication to the role was what bothered him, or simply that he was cruising around with a bunch of tiny, fragile shells inside of a steel chassis.

"Yeah, yeah." Maybe he was a bit overprotective, but he had good reason to be. "Hmmm?"

"Oh, I visit the DayCare frequently, so they asked a favor." It paid to be famous around Hoenn as a trainer. Adrian would be trusted with parcels and tasks that usually ended with a reward.

As they leave Mauville, Adrian changes lanes, heading towards a bridge that should take them towards Littleroot. They were making good time.

Rowan could sense the hesitation coming from Adrian, reaching a hand over to rub their thigh with calming intent, instead of his usual provocative manner. “Valor won’t let anything happen to the eggs, he’s the one Pokemon I have that listens to me no matter what. Plus, he’s an absolute badass. I once saw him take on a Charizard without any fear in his eyes, can you imagine? Got his ass kicked, but he loved every moment of it.” Valor let out a chirp of confidence from the back seat, puffing up his chest slightly as though he was ready to take on the entire world if it came for these eggs. “See? Nothing to worry about.”

Rowan knew that Adrian was a strong trainer, but didn’t really have any idea of his renown in the region, especially seeing as he was so new. “Oh really? That’s cool.” Volunteering at a Daycare seemed out of their wheelhouse, but there was something new he learned about Adrian every day that made being with them always interesting. “Kind of a random time to bring this up…” Rowan reached up and pushed some hair behind his ear, amber eyes glancing over at them with a sheepish grin. “...but, your sister and I are kind of going to be working together soon.” He was referring mostly to their shared affiliation with Team Rocket, but since Adrian didn’t know that, he decided instead to frame it as their streaming career, which also happened to be the truth. “Surprise?”

"Like, in the same building, or what?" Adrian didn't even know Serena actually worked, aside from the streaming gig and everything that came with it. Hardly seemed fair to call it actual work, but it kept her busy and ate up her time, so that counted for something. "Should I worry?"

It wasn't exactly something he would've been worried about except for how Rowan delivered it. The more he thought it over, there must've been... something that made Rowan uneasy delivering the news.

He'll tell me when he wants to, I guess.

Despite the red flag, Adrian kept trust in Rowan.

They drove along in silence for the next few moments until Adrian decided to break it: "I think that's Oldale Town up ahead," he gestured as they approached the rural settlement on the horizon. "Littleroot isn't much farther."

“Yeah, pretty much like that.” Rowan hadn’t expected it to feel so horrible, withholding the entire truth from Adrian. There was a disgust with himself that almost made him want to blurt out the identity of the organization here and now, but he refrained. Gavin mentioned that betraying the secrecy of Team Rocket would end poorly for everyone involved, the last thing he wanted was Adrian getting hurt because he was acting recklessly. “No need to be worried, I’ll be fine. Promise.” Rowan forced a smile towards his boyfriend, hoping that would indeed be the case. Truthfully, he didn’t know what it entailed still, being a part of Team Rocket. There was an obvious danger presented with working against the League, but Rowan was careful and he wasn’t about to ruin all of the good in his life anytime soon.

“Oldale Town?” This was one of the locations he hadn’t visited yet since his journey to Hoenn, peering out the window towards the fields of flowers and lush forests that surrounded the scenic road. “It’s really pretty out here.” Rowan smiled softly, feeling a bit more relaxed as he watched the scenery go passing by. “You think you could ever live out in a place like this? I feel like i’d miss the city too much, but I don’t know.” In all honesty, as long as Adrian was with him, anywhere could feel like home.

"It is." As the countryside disappeared behind them, Adrian meditated on an answer for Rowan. "I'unno. I like being able to walk down the street to the corner store on a whim..." Many of these rural villages didn't have the commodities a city slicker like him was accustomed to.

Cautiously casting a glance Rowan's way, he ponders on whether this is one of those 'say what I wanna hear' moments. Somehow he doubted it, thinking Rowan more realist than sentimental, though they're both tender where the other is concerned. "...But we could always visit."

After traveling down another winding road, they eventually drove into the small settlement known as Littleroot Town. The only building of any substance was doubtlessly the professor's facility.

“You’re cute, you know that?” Rowan smirked softly as his boyfriend, recognizing that their response was an attempt to preserve his feelings should he actually want to live out his days in a place like this. “As long as you’re with me, I couldn’t care less where we are living.” He leaned over and pulled Adrian’s face towards him as the vehicle came to a stop in front of the research facility, gazing into their eyes for a moment before pressing their lips together for a loving kiss. There would be a long moment before he pulled away, sticking his tongue out slightly towards them in a teasing manner. “Come on, we got eggs to deliver. We can make out after.”

Stepping out of the vehicle, Rowan moved to open the rear passenger door, crouching down to inspect the eggs one by one. “All of them are in perfect condition.” He gently scratched the underside of Valor’s beak with a finger, forcing a series of pleased trills to come from the Rookidee. “You did great, buddy.” Rowan retrieved the basket, letting Valor flutter off towards the roof of the research building, perching protectively over them. “After you, handsome.” He gestured for Adrian to lead the way, following closely behind him with the basket of eggs cradled in his arms.

He's the one for me... Adrian can't help but melt into their comforting touch, though they are quick to leave him high and dry, teasing him as they exit the vehicle.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm moving..."

Stepping into the professor's laboratory, Adrian and Rowan wait by a receptionist's desk until the one in the big coat finally came to see them personally. Surrendering the eggs, they're given the professor's curt gratitude before they disappear into the building once more with the eggs.

Once they were finally free of the burden of responsibility, Adrian quickly led them back to his car, taking advantage of the opportunity:

"So, where are we going?" He's the first to reach the passenger door, barring the way for Rowan with his question before adding:

"And what was that earlier about...?" Rowan would full well know he was playing coy.

“Well hurry up, I can’t see your ass from all the way up here.” Rowan teased, walking along with the basket until they ended up inside the building. Delivering the package went off without a hitch, the receptionist happily accepting the basket of eggs and walking them back to where the Professor was. Rowan admittedly was curious to meet the man that ran this research facility, but he wasn’t going to interrupt them while they were obviously busy. “Thank you.” He offered a small nod of the head to the man as he approached to receive his delivery, soon disappearing into the background without a word.

Once outside, Rowan walked with whimsy in his step, happy to have Adrian all to himself for the rest of the evening. He hardly even noticed as the other moved in front of him with purposeful speed, raising a brow with a smirk across his face as he watched them block the passenger door. “Wherever you wanna go, babe.” Rowan moved forward and slid his fingers through the belt loops of their jeans, pulling them close to his body. “Doesn’t have to just end at making out, you know.” There was a salacious look on his face, unable to get enough of what Adrian could provide.
