As if awaiting the command, its putrid spores released a pungent aroma that dispelled the rime coating its figure, although it was more like melting. Adrian coughed while backing away, fanning at the air to disperse the miasma.

And then they both ogled the carrots.

"Wow... These're... strange." Not that Adrian had expected anything less than some bizarre twist on an otherwise ordinary venture. "Hmmm..."

Am I supposed to cook them into something?

Adrian cast a look over his shoulder, feeling a shiver run up his back and along his skin in a wave of tingles as he anxiously looked for something.

SHOAL CAVE

TAMING THE HORSE

UPON RETURNING TO SHOAL CAVE, the same unnerving feeling of being watched returns. in this frigid underground, your hard footsteps clack against ice and echo across valleys of frozen blue. however, you instinctively hush yourself. a horse-like pokemon neighs in the distance. a mask of ice surround pupilless eyes. from its hooves, intense cold air wafts.

♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡

however, the horse seems to notice you. it advances closer. the clopping of hooves echo too, orchestrating an endless percussion of icy beats. suddenly, the earth freezes even more so. an additional layer of ice grows outward and higher with immense speed. before you can blink, an icy ramp forms right before you— and the horse slides across the ice in a flash to greet you from their elevated stations.

If past experiences had taught him anything, it was that powerful pokemon knew how to make an entrance. One such creature, a frost-coated colt, approached him in a mist that froze the very ground beneath their feet as it trotted towards him, its jaw swaying side-to-side, exposing a tongue that flashed out hungrily. The carrots?

Adrian plucked one from the ground, offering it to the beast, which drew blood from him as it nipped his hand, before dashing deeper into the caverns.

That was... something. A rare pokemon, maybe.

He'd hope for it to appear again, but it wouldn't. In fact, he'd begin to consider that he'd imagined it.

GLASTRIER ASKS FOR:

OFFER THE WILD HORSE WHAT THEY SEEK

write a post that has your trainer offering any two week berry to the glastrier and then post in MODERATION REQUESTS. after they have been given the berry, the horse will promptly flash away.

you do not need to have the berry grow in your garden. you can simply purchase it from the SITE SHOP.

should your trainer come the next day, they will find the glastrier in shoal cave once more. shiv will post a new prompt, detailing what the glastrier wants (hopefully, once per day). each request fulfilled by your trainer will steadily tame the glastrier.

All he had on hand was a Rabuta Berry, but the pokemon seemed to sniff it on him. As it teetered along the edge of his encampment at dead of night, he was convinced it was special. Not that this meant it would be powerful or useful, he'd discovered a few unique and rare pokemon while in Hoenn, and most of them were simply novelties.

But this one seemed different, almost regal.

So with great earnest belying his trepidation, Adrian trudged over towards Glastrier at a snail's pace, stretching out an arm with the berry held in his flat palm.

"Guess there's not a lot of food here naturally, huh?" The pokemon seemed to shake its head, or it was simply shivering. Did nocturnal ice horses shiver?

Maybe he was overthinking it.

After it gobbled up the berry from his hand, it trotted off into the cave once more, disappearing as was characteristic to it. "Hrmm."

Adrian was starting to feel like a charity.

Adrian sat huddled up to the campfire with a Teddiursa nestled against him, sharing smores and whiling away the late hours until sleep claimed them. But he was awaiting that cryptid beast which presumed to entreat him every night, at approximately the same hour and place.

When it finally showed, it appeared to have grown. He remained increasingly wary for it, yet the pokemon in his embrace seemed to respond amicably, approaching the equine in awe, gesturing at its prominent mane.

The beast even let Teddiursa touch it, something Adrian hadn't openly risked yet, excepting when it happened to graze his fingers while snatching away its treat. While he might have been jealous, he soon realizes the pokemon encourages the contact, digging its hulking hoarfrost hide against Teddiursa's tough claws, CHIPPING AWAY at the excess growths and revealing its former semblance. "Oh, so it's like hair," Adrian found himself blurting, prompting a sharp turn and abrupt snort from the Glastrier.

It galloped away soon after, perhaps startled by Adrian's verbal response. Dammit, there it goes again...

THE NEXT DAY, you see the horse— but it seems different in appearance from afar. getting close, you see that the glastrier has become quite dirty. perhaps, it's all that flashing back and forth in the cave that has caused its beautiful equine form to be marred by mud.

write a post that uses ONE MINCCINO OR CINCCINO and a Pokemon using the move, SOAK, to help clean the dirty glastrier. of course, the water may freeze, so work fast! after, post in MODERATION REQUESTS. after they have been cleaned, the horse will promptly flash away.

Teddiursa was taking a nap, nestled up with a cincinno while Adrian sat quietly by the campfire. It wasn't quite dusk yet, but a pale horse came trotting up to his encampment earlier than expected, and worse for wear.

The Glastrier hesitated on the edge of his camp, shifting its body side-to-side as if considering stepping forward. But whether its distrust of Adrian or aversion to the fire was to blame, it remained teetering on the edge, waiting.

Beckoning.

By now Cincinno had woken up from its nap by the arrival of an auspicious presence, gleefully taking the horse's measure, running up to it with its tail wagging. As Adrian approached a half-step behind, he realized the thing was a fucking muddy mess.

"I'm giving baths now, is that it?" The horse didn't seem to understand his tone, or if it did it gave no indication it had, simply staring at him as if to say: Yes. Right now, please.

Though grabbing at a pokeball made the horse uneasy, Adrian reaffirmed it by releasing a Goldeen.

"Give 'em a rinse, Goldeen."

Adrian made sure to stand back to avoid the errant water from Goldeen's SOAK, lest he freeze over while in the frigid depths of Shoal Cave. As the water streamed over its body and scoured the filth, Cincinno dragged its tail over the water, absorbing it before Glastrier's body could freeze it over naturally. When it was done, the horse gave a satisfied whinny before dashing away.

But it cast a lasting look back just before it disappeared into the murk of the cave, giving Adrian a chilling look. Or maybe he was just cold.

THE NEXT DAY, you see the horse. they do not seem hesitant at all this time. instead, the horse appears to be waiting for you closer to the entrance this time, as if the glastrier was in tune with your rhythms. your schedule. in its mouth, a narrow strap of ice dangles and emanates chilly air.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♡

should you take the reins, they are immensely cold to the touch. one wonders if frostbite would crawl up their palms— for the chill is painful against human skin. even worse, it penetrates past any fabric. the glastrier beckons you to mount its back, pristine and well-groomed thanks to both of your effort. with a snort, the horse brings you two to a different shoal chamber. here, a vast field filled with fences of ice, bridges and more appears before you: an equine agility course.

the glastrier raises their front legs and neigh. cold air rushes from its hooves. quickly, the horse dashes into the course, and you must hang on for dear life, even if the icy reins cut into your trembling hands.

TAME THE HORSE

REIN THEM IN!

WITH EVERY POST, make a ROLL. you must hit or surpass a total of 100 to successfully hang on to the glastrier; furthermore, the horse is examining your ability to ride them!

On the final night the horse approached, it came trotting auspiciously into his camp, and directly up to Adrian. It held a frozen bit in its mouth, which it released from its bite, relinquishing the reins to Adrian before whinnying expectantly. "Huh?"

Whether by sheer speed or mysticism, the Glastrier tore through the caverns until they reached a frozen track, the reins biting against his skin, which were cold and clammy. Possibly bloodied.

His body wanted nothing more than to slide off the back of the saddleless equestrian, but he held on for dear life, crushing his thighs against its sides.

Is it purposefully trying to kill me!? It was a very real concern as they blitzed through the hostile, rime-coated tundra biome Glastrier now raced through with Adrian atop its back. Blood was definitely trickling out of his paling palms, which was about the only color of distinction as he saw only ice and frost ahead of him. "Stop!"

Doubtless the horse had made its mind and wouldn't listen, but having done much and more to garner Glastrier's acknowledgement these past nights... He hoped it would afford him certain leverage. And if not, at least he'd tried.
