Making the pilgrimage to Mt. Pyre's summit was something of a ritual for him now, and it had begun conditioning him. What would've winded him a year ago was now more of a cumbersome jaunt.

On the way to Howitzer's headstone, Adrian suspects the local pokemon will be more active than normal. While they tended to be more docile under the shadow Yveltal cast on the mountain, the summit's caretaker had abandoned its mount for some hidden refuge. He'd yet to return.

Now was their chance for some mild mannered mischief, so he braced for it, the Galarian Weezing at his side billowing noxious fumes and saturating the grounds with its MISTY SURGE ability as a mild deterrent.

There wasn't much of a reason to trouble the odd keystone as he passed it by, noting the dormant, resting aura of the Spiritomb bound within.

Except that it was a malevolent pokemon that hosted an untold host of souls, all of which conspired against the others trapped within the sort of phylactery that was the misshapen rock he now held in his palm.

If it were any other time, and he weren't feeling brazen and hard-headed, he might have left it be. But instead he plucked it from off the ground, causing a sudden outpouring of ectoplasm as the Spiritomb stirred to life, only to be tapped by Adrian's dark aura, which siphoned its energies into his own flesh. The spirits writhed and faltered before going dormant once again, cowering.

Stuffing the rock into a pocket, he kept it for himself, thinking fondly of the pokemon native to his homeland. Perhaps he ought to see Sinnoh again... Who knew if he would ever be given a chance again?

But first came the climb.
