EXPOSITION

DOWN IN THE DEPTHS OF HOENN'S SEA, a series of caverns can be found. An earthquake had been recorded during the Ultra Beast War— and only now has the League discovered that it was caused by something breaking out of the underwater caves.

REPORT A

MAX # OF PARTICIPANTS:[break]4 LEAGUE, 4 ROCKETS

Explore the seafloor cavern for any hints of primal energy. Danger exists with every turn, for thick forests of seaweed, antagonistic Pokemon and more hide in the ancient cave.[break][break]

OBJECTIVES
🌋 At least 1 Avatar power must be used.
🌋 Everyone will discover a chamber of special eggs that the Manaphy has abandoned. Although the Manaphy will acknowledge kyle lopez, Melody Miro and skyler dross's previous help with the Phione of Sootopolis, the eggs may be scavenged or taken by Rocket. A conflict may ensue; however, those who post at least 7 TIMES will be able to retrieve special eggs.
However, the Manaphy will personally grant michiko maeda the knowledge of the location of a special egg, sensing her benevolence and Pokefan heart.
🌋 skyler dross will find another blue orb shard within this cavern, which will then fuse with the rest of her fragments should she bring them close.
🌋 @robbin's collector fantasies will allow her to capture/befriend a NON-LEGENDARY WATER-TYPE POKEMON of her choice during this excursion. She may choose the moveset of the Pokemon like a gachapon Pokemon.
🌋 Celeste Abbiati will see odd vein-like carvings in the seafloor cavern wall and may possibly consider them religious.
At least 1 Pokemon must mega evolve.
Everyone must explore the exposed seafloor cavern either in a diving suit and/or a small submarine (example vessel).
Rockets must depart for the cavern via Rocket Headquarters (submarine). The submarine will not be detected by the League.
Use seaweed/clamperl/wishiwashi in creative ways of combat.
A Manaphy will appear, having been scared by something (Rocket Headquarters). Before it leaves, it will temporarily HEART SWAP at least two trainers, causing their "souls" to switch for a brief period of time. Affected players must roleplay as the other character for at least one post.
The League must capture a Relicanth that features primal crystal growths on its body.
End the thread on the 5th page.

kyle's all dressed and ready for the occasion. even in his tshirt with a mightyena print and cargo shorts, the sailor's hat on top of his head makes him feel like he's playing the role well.

with how many events start to pop out all over hoenn, league was starting to spread their resources thin to investigate each occurrence. he's stuck on a submarine instead of an actual expert, which kyle can only assume were all working in similar cases as them. arceus, he hopes it's really the case.

kyle scratches his head as he watches the radar, specially updated to detect primal energy similar to the quartz they've been collecting. tectonic activity connected during the ultra beast war makes the location suspicious, warranting a trip to investigate it.

"we're getting a reading up ahead," he tells whoever was driving the submarine. "i think we get to it soon... or something..."

they were given a crash course on how to man the submarine and would likely know how most functions work, but kyle still doesn't really know how to transfer information he found on it verbally. he looks away from the radar and to the room.

"does anyone wanna switch?"

a fish out of water— and yet, he's surrounded by it. as his feet eases on the pedal of his small sea vessel, he switches the lights on. beams of sour yellow pierce through the thick ocean, catching the shape of underwater krabby and old rock.

he raises his finger to his ear to nudge the piece in deeper.

"one two. testing these shitty comms. can everyone hear me?" elijah says.

his voice crackles through to the other rockets as his toes curl at the dizzying thought of underwater direction.

Robbin had been called for her first real mission as a grunt and she was undoubtingly nervous.

She had decided to not go via submarine as she knew she’d probably crash it into someone else and ruin their plan. Instead she would dive with her empoleon, she had faith he would guide her right.

A male voice cracked in her ear as she zipped her suit, testing their connection.

“This is Robbin Blue and the empoleon, I can hear you,” She replied, feeling awkward as she talked to the air. Her empoleon, Penni, jumped into the water and waited for Robbin to mount.

She had only dove a few times and wondered if rocket would let her drown if something went wrong.

Rowan’s approach was similar to that of his comrade @robbin , discarding the mechanical aspect of their approach in favor of being brought along by one of his Pokémon. Arms clung around Boreas as the Dewgong glided through the water effortlessly, even with Rowan attached. Bubbles escaped from the mask of his scuba outfit when he spoke, responding in kind to elijah gardner as he spoke. “Copy, I’m on approach with my Dewgong.”

Another mission so soon after the failure that had been their raid of the Cave of Origin didn’t seem exactly wise, but Rowan was determined to prove that he was capable of being useful in this organization. He wasn’t going to fail again, no matter what.

"I can Kyle!" She said as the pinkette jumped out of her chair, her suit was really chaffing her in that previous seat so she was eager to switch out with anyone. Kyle's chair looked a lot more comfortable than hers so she was eager to switch off she looked at the navigator to confirm what Kyle had said. While not exactly well versed in underwater sea-fairing she was able to take some knowledge and apply it here, she turned to skyler dross dross. [break][break]

"Yeah he's right, it's a few knots in the direction we're already heading. we should get ready soon." she commented. It was rather a quiet trip so far which was pleasant! She enjoyed looking out the glass compartment of the submarine and seeing all the water Pokémon, she hoped for an excuse to let out her new wishiwashi but she didn't think she'd get the chance at the moment.

When she'd offered her services to the League as a captain, she'd meant as a ship captain. So it was with no small amount of surprise that she'd found herself with a Arceus-damned submarine on her hands. A rather sudden crash course had barely scraped the bare basics of what they'd need to operate this particular vessel, let alone drive it to the depths.

But how difficult could it be, really? It was just like any ship, Skyler rationalized, except that it also moved up and down.

No biggie.

Leaning over the navigational controls, Captain Dross surveys the gloom ahead of them, the round glass opening up to a yawning darkness that the submarine's headlights are having a hard time piercing.

They are too far down for any shred of sunlight to be able to reach them. Whatever passes for light down here would have to come from another source.

Already in her wetsuit, and bearing a golden captain hat that she'd received during the Mistletoe event, Captain Dross turns her attention to Melody Miro , lips curled into an eager smile. "Almost there! Everyone should be suited up, just in case." The last frequency sweep had shown her a large obstruction ahead - most likely the collection of caves they'd been sent to investigate.

"Do the readings remain stable, kyle lopez ?"

"yup, yup, yup," kyle mentions in response to skyler dross as he gets up from his seat to the lockers that contained his wetsuit.

he had only took a glance before he answered, but the readings were pretty hard to miss. oxygen levels were still high, the pressure in the ship from the depths that they currently are was still sustainable, and no notable wild pokemon seemed to be attacking their submarine just yet.

taking off his casual attire reveals swimwear intended to be worn underneath the wetsuit. assuming everyone's looking at what they're supposed to look at, kyle suits up for the underwater exploration.

finishing up quick, he goes to the latch that opens up the water for them. "i'm deploying the chinchou," he informs everyone as he drops the pokemon he released from his own pokeball down the water before closing it again.

it illuminates the way much better than artificial lights at least.

The darkness closing in all around, water pressing down all around the small submarine, it was almost serene. If she wasn't on a mission, she would find it hard not to simply meditate down here by herself. Her attention was suddenly broken up by the voices in her ear. She had never worked with this group before, but she had no intention of disappointing Rocket. [break][break]

"This is Abbiati, over. Can hear you all loud and clear." She'd clear her throat for a second, her eyes scanning the ocean floor as she adjusted the ship to pilot alongside a massive forest of seaweed. "The mission is clear. We are to investigate the area for any signs of anything out of the ordinary, and bring back anything deemed worthy of our attention."[break][break]

Her Rotom, currently possessing the ship, took over navigating for the moment as Celeste focused on scanning every inch of her view. So long as they had no disturbances, she was comfortable being as patient as required. Nothing was ever as easy as it seemed, however. "A word of caution. For those in scuba-suits. Do not descend or ascend too quickly. Your insides will be threatening to kill you if you do."

"alright, we're all accounted for. just to say in advance, if any of you get into some shit, you're on your own." despite remaining dry, elijah slows his vessel down after celeste's warning. "sending my frogadier out."

from his submarine, a red arc of light summons his pokemon discreetly. the frogadier emerges behind searock. blowing bubbles, its legs swing out as it swims.

"do we see anything like broken rock? evidence of earthquake damage?" elijah almost grumbles. his frogadier swims past him and is tickled by soft seaweed.

Boreas carefully navigated through the underwater terrain with their trainer in mind, avoiding narrow passages through the rocks and diverting away from any thick forests of seaweed. “I’d expect nothing less.” Rowan responded in kind to elijah gardner , understanding all too well that not everyone was as self-sacrificing as Alexandra Briarwood had been at the Cave of Origin. “Thanks for the reminder.” Sarcasm was thick in his tone as he responded to Celeste Abbiati ‘s mission briefing and word of caution, he didn’t like having information relayed to him that he already knew, especially by someone that was his organizational equal. Perhaps if he wasn’t so stressed about the success of this mission, he might have been a bit more tactful.

“I’m not showing any signs of instability as of yet.” A hand slipped away from Boreas for a moment, grabbing onto a device that had been affixed at the hip. Boreas dipped towards an outcropping of rock at the direction of their trainer, swimming close enough to stab the spike of the device into a small crevice. “I brought along a sensor that will prematurely alert us of seismic activity in the area, it’ll ping me exactly two minutes before anything happens, just in case.” This was something that Rowan had prepared with the help of some of the scientists of Rocket, the mobile device contained sensitive pressure sensors and accelerometers specifically to measure and separate out seismic and oceanic signals. He wasn't taking any chances this time, preparation was key.

Notes: Rowan placed a device that will warn them of incoming seismic activity two minutes beforehand.

- Robbin finds her ease in the sea and does some sick tricks yo, but finds nothing useful to share.

Once Robbin’s head dunked under the water the sounds around her sloshed then muffled in a second. She was pushed into a state of calm. Even Elijah’s words, which she was so worried about at the surface, didn’t startle her.

"Just me and you bud," she murmured to her emopleon.

She got a firm grip on her empoleon and followed the submarines down into the sea. A few times they would pause and Penni would do a barrel roll propelled by a drill peck or do a loop around a random stray pokemon. Otherwise, she stayed in sight and Penni was keeping a safe and paced descent.

Robbin didn’t find anything useful as she focused on the rocky sea floor, a faint thump of disappointment rushing to her head at her lack of use in the situation, but she double checked what the others passed through just incase.

Melody was already dressed to go and stupidly saluted skyler dross "Yes mam!" she said with a smile on her face as she went behind a wall and changed into her suit. She came back out afterwards as she was pretty fast with outfit changes on account of her being able to practice a lot at her performances. [break][break]

As Kyle opens the latch to deploy chinchou, melody nods to them "I'll head out with kyle's chinchou and my wishiwashi!" she says as she tosses a pokeball into the water and a lone wishiwashi looks to melody as if it was about to cry if she didn't join him. She placed her helmet on and dove into the water. The submarine's radio would turn on as melody turned on her suit's communication device. "Melody miro reporting in! Seems like everything's stable here, gonna also deploy my primarina." she says as she took out her pokeball with her trusty primarina. [BREAK][BREAK]

It appears kyle lopez 's assumptions are correct, at least as far as Captain Dross is concerned. While an avid appreciator and proprietor of nicely shaped abs, Skyler's attention doesn't shift to a changing Kyle; instead she narrows her eyes at the readings on the sonar, fingers drifting over the controls as the submarine is propelled forward.

"Debris ahead," she calls out, at the same time as Chinchou goes into the water along with Melody Miro and her own pokemon. Her eyes shift to the suited up gym leader. "Please take care. Deep ocean currents can be tricky." Captain Dross would know, having visited the depths enough times to know to expect the unexpected.

The sound of static fills the chamber as communications crackle to life. "I hear you loud and clear, Melody. The sonar is picking up what appears to be rubble ahead. Can you confirm?" A pause. "If you see anything suspicious get back to the submarine immediately, okay?" She imagines that a gym leader would be able to take care of herself, but the image of an exploding yacht flashes before her eyes before Skyler can blink it away.

She's taking no chances this time.

"Hey Michi, have you thought of a name yet?" The submarine had come with a designation: DXGL-something. But every water vessel, in Captain Dross's opinion, should have a proper name, unofficial as it might be. So she'd given michiko maeda the task of thinking up one. "I don't think The Sotally Tober 2 quite does it."

he crouches down by the hatch, waving goodbye at her with a straight face and a weak smile. "have fun, sweetie," he tells her just before she takes the plunge at the great depths of the sea. false positivity dissipates quickly, as he gets up and stretches.

"one of us is definitely going to need to go get her later," he announces as soon as she gets out of the earshot. considering the other people on the ship with him, kyle grimaces at the probability of him being the best choice.

he moves to the front of the sub, resting an arm on skyler dross's seat as he leans on it. he watches the magnificence of the deep blue from behind the window, illuminated thanks to his chinchou's light.

hearing Melody Miro's message on the communicator prompts kyle to use it as well.

"my chinchou doubles as a flash bang. doubly effective on underwater pokemon that don't get a shred of sunlight. order it as you see fit if you need to."
