"It won't if I get to it in time. Do you have any hydrogen peroxide? If you wait by the sink and start rubbing some dish soap into the stain, I can find the peroxide. It usually works, it'll pull the stain right out and.."

She continues to babble, setting her own glass to the side before hovering near Greyson. His eyes are on her but she doesn't seem to notice how indifferent he seemed to be. Rather, she is only now caught off guard by the way he watches her. It encourages her to taper off of her explanation of the plan slowly, watching him in return.

he listens to her for a moment, a soft smile tugging at his lips. then, before she could go-off on another tirade, he reaches out and grabs her hand with his.

he didn't forget how soft her hands were, and it warmed him more than the alcohol to embrace her.

"gwen."

he speaks softly, though it's laced with adored amusement.

"it's okay."

Her long-winded educational speech on stain removal is cut short for round two when he reaches for her hand. It surprises her and her fingers instinctively flex, squeezing his. But he brings a smile to her face immediately.

And then he says her name and it leaves her breathless and anxious all at once- but it isnt an unwelcome feeling. She stares up at him, wide-eyed and just a little bit confused.

"But Greyson, it will stain. That'd be a shame to ruin a very nice shirt."

still holding her hand, greyson stands. violet hues stare stare down at grey. his heart beats a mile-a-minute. so loud he's afraid gwen could hear it.

"gwen."

he repeats again.

"it's okay. it's just a shirt."

he stands so close that the blush of her cheeks stand out like red suns.

with his other hand, he cups her face, caressing her delicate features. her skin was smooth beneath his rough hands he it was an intoxicating feeling.

his breath quickened.

He hasn't let go, and she hasn't pulled away. Somewhere in the midst of her confusion and anxiously beating heart she realized she didn't want to.

Instead of pulling apart, Greyson repeats her name. He reassures her again that the stain isn't a pressing issue, and she has to wonder why.

But before she has a chance to open her mouth again to question him, his other hand caresses her cheek. Nevermind his heartbeat, she worries he might be able to hear hers.

greyson leans in slowly, the very world around them coming to a halt. he neither sees nor hears anything other than gwen. his eyes lower to her lips in ache-filled wanting and, for a moment, he questions whether or not she'd accept it.

accept him.

but, before any incessant doubts push their way through the barrier of confidence he'd erected for himself, he acts.

he leans in fully and embraces her lips with his own.

Gwen freezes, eyes wide as he leans in. Its as if the whole room has taken a collective deep breath, anticipation leaving the surface of her skin electrified.

To say something now would be to ruin the mood. To worry about if he pressed to close to her, it might transfer the stain from his shirt to hers, would surely ruin the mood.

She's never been kissed before.

Never felt the warmth of another's hands against her skin in quite the same manner. This was intimate. This was different and surreal and terrifying. She felt like a little kid, wide-eyed in wonder for a new experience.

She returns his kiss tentatively, evident in her inexperience and nerves. But he is warm and safe and kind, and she doesn't feel the need to run away.

how many women have greyson kissed? one? two? he was more experienced than gwen, if only, barely.

her lips are soft and welcoming. together with her scent, and touch, it's intoxicating.

reluctantly, he pulls away after a few seconds, face inches from hers. his chest rises and falls quickly.

for the moment, he's too stunned to speak.

Their seven seconds in heaven stretch for what feels like far more.

Light-headed, dizzy, a little giddy, Gwen chuckles nervously when they finally part. Greyson's face hovers close to hers and she can feel his heartbeat throb against the palm of her hand.

Because somewhere in between their entanglement, Guinevere had smoothed her fingers against his chest to lose herself in him just a little bit more.

he can't deny the wanting that eats at him. the urge to feel her lips linger on his. warmth floods him from her touch and he rests his hand on the back of hers.

greyson releases a quick breath, chuckling a bit himself.

"wow."

he finds himself idly thumbing her cheek.

Subtly, when he places his hand over hers, she shifts her fingers to allow this to slip through hers. It brings a smile to her face, one that only grows when he chuckles.

The sound of his laughter is contagious and addictive. She wants to hear more of it.

"Wow, yourself."

he stays there for a moment, face lingering so close their foreheads are nearly touching. a thought occurs to him, and he blushes. then, hesitantly, he speaks up, each word feeling forced; sucked out of him like a vacuum.

"i think it's time to prepare the steak."

This time, he blushes, or maybe he had been before but this time she sees it for herself. Gwen hangs on every word, her smile endless, almost aching.

"One more minute."

And this time, she takes the reigns. Though she's sure he wouldn't make any move to break apart just yet, she pulls him closer. The woman leans up on her tiptoes to kiss him a second time.
