“Braving the sun, Salem? Here I thought goths were allergic.” Comes a voice from the opposite side of the beach battlefield, precariously balanced on top of one of two lifeguard towers. Even though Angelo may have had a few drinks before scrambling up the ladder, he’s somehow standing quite stable. [break][break]

“Better not blame heatstroke when you fall 'n eat sand!” It’s all trash talk, of course; evident by the flash of teeth Razz and Salem have no doubt come to be familiar with, along with the mocking finger waggle towards the feline to bring it on. [break][break]

Remaining aloft with effortless strokes of her wings, sand rippling beneath her, Aquila awaits to take on her Flygon rival for the rematch of the century. Is that fire in her eyes or just the blazing, Hoenn afternoon sun burning her retinas?

"I'm pretty sure Pokemon don't sweat the same way we do," Razz comments as usual the silly banter goes over his head as he thinks the other believes his cat would over heat. "Plus the wind is pretty cool from us being at the beach," he continues in his matter of fact manner. All Salem does it facepalm. Deciding to let his trainer think what he wants as Salem is actually the one to call out an attack. [break][break]

Both Shamrock and Razz look to the cat confused, but the ranger nods and gives Shamrock a shrug. Guess Salem was calling the shots here as Shamrock would take a deep breath and use Dragon Breath against their opponent.

“That’s not what I…” There’s a pause, followed by a laugh that’s a little less mischievous and more warm – kinder. “Y'know what. Never mind. Don’t change, Razz!” [break][break]

Speaking of the wind, it was pleasantly cool amidst the warmth that rises from the sun kissed sand. Favourable too, Angelo notes with satisfaction. Perfect for a battle in the skies. [break][break]

Shamrock and Salem, his and Aquila’s eternal Dragon Riding Rivals, strike first with a plume of purple draconic energy like fire. With a beat of her wings, TAILWIND swirls around the Pidgeot and she launches herself into the air. Dodging both the attack and letting out a screech towards the Flygon, beckoning for her – challenging her – to give chase into the open skies.

Razz seems confused by the others words, a tilt of his head being his only indicator of his confusion but he decides to shrug it off. As he'd let Salem take control of the battle. There is a bit of a hmph from the Flygon as the Pidgeot avoids her attack but she still plans to have fun with this battle and the bird she as come to become rivals with. While she isn't as quick as her feathery rival she felt like she might have a power advantage. Salem calls out an attack and again Shamrock finds it weird, but she'll allow it as the two pokemon worked together last time why not now. [break][break]

As she follows behind she goes in for a DRAGON CLAW from behind. [break][break]

"So you know if you lose this will be twice you've lost to Salem right? Not me?" psychological warfare anyone?

Blue eyes flicker from observing the battle only briefly, enough so to cast Razz a look as he calls over from his lifeguard tower. Was the ranger taking part in a bit of smack talk or was that just his ears playing tricks on him?[break][break]

“So what you’re saying is,” Angelo grins, equal measures proud, amused and competitive. “Is that you're long overdue for an ass-kicking. I'll schedule you in after Salem, how about it?”[break][break]

Shamrock’s DRAGON CLAW meets its intended target, pushing Aquila away with an annoyed squawk of protest. With a flap of her wings as she falls a bit out of the sky, back first, AIR SLASH activates. Aquila righting herself with a blast of wind towards Shamrock’s exposed belly.

"Ummm...." Razz kinda goes quite trying to think of a comeback. Its clear that he is very new when it comes to smack talk. As most the time any snark that comes from him is accidental. Or just matter of fact, but when it came to Skyler and Angelo he wanted to try and be more on their level. "I don't know... I think you're still in the bottom bracket and need to beat Miss Dross first" she wasn't here he has no obligations to call her by her first name. [break][break]

Salem calls out to Flygon after she is hit by the Air Slash. She just shakes her head though clearly still able to keep on going as she flies quick toward her to try and go with what Salem suggested and used BUG BITE. If successful she would try to throw her downward.

“No, no, no… It doesn’t work like that.” Not the totem pole placement again... he wasn’t going to let the young ranger delegate him to the lowest ranking this time. Especially not when he knew that Razz had lost to Skyler himself. Angelo would claw his way out of that loser spot even if he had to fudge the technicalities a little. [break][break]

“Think you'll find you’re on the bottom, Razz my friend. Can’t say you’re higher than me when we haven’t even battled yet.”[break][break]

Technically, they should both be sitting pretty in last place but details details… [break][break]

Aquila meanwhile is defending herself against Shamrock’s own retaliation, narrowly dodging, she takes advantage of the close proximity to aim a WING ATTACK slap right back at the Flygon as she attempts to bite her. [break][break]

She, too, is not all that keen on losing…

"How does it not?" he questions with a tilt of his head, he's bad at trash talk. [break][break]

"Oh Salem may have been the one to challenge you, but in the end still my pokemon," he shrugs with a small smile on his face. Was he making up rules? Maybe, but that's how friends played... he thinks. [break][break]

While hit up close with the wing attack, Shamrock didn't plan on going down, she was determined. while up close to her target she would use DRAGON BREATH, aiming for the wings to try and make it difficult to keep in the air.

Angelo is slightly too tipsy to figure out the mental gymnastics that has become this smack talk. Although he certainly tries, even if it’s a fruitless attempt. “No. Wait. Huh?” A hand is raised, palm facing out towards Razz in a stop signal because his brain needs a moment to catch up. “I thought I was battling Salem... Does he count as his own competitor or not?” [break][break]

There’s a pause, when Angelo speaks again, his mouth forms a jest and an eyebrow is slyly raised. “Or are you claiming Salem's hard earned victories as your own? Didn't expect that from you Razz, if I'm being honest.”[break][break]

Shamrock is fast, as expected of her rival. But so is Aquila. Up close and personal, a MIRROR MOVE is activated just as the Flygon opens her maw to release a stream of purple energy and the same power is released in tandem from the Pidgeot’s beak. Twin DRAGON BREATH collide into one another between the pair, creating a burst of energy that threatens to knock them back with the force.

Well when put like that he sounds almost like the bad guy. But maybe he's too used to the idea of using pokemon. Though he can't admit that to the other so he ponders for a bit. "Think of it how a teacher teaches his student, while the student has his own accomplishments the teacher still views it as a win for him, get it?" though Salem does look back at his trainer and sticks his tongue out at him which makes him chuckle. [break][break]

Salem calls out in warning to Shamrock and with a backward dive the dragon narrowly avoids the attack. She keeps going down though only going up again before she would hit the ground. In a way its her way of challenging the Pidgeot to follow.

Angelo opens his mouth and then closes it again like a Magikarp, raised hand turning into a pointed finger. Suddenly turning into a picture of befuddlement… [break][break]

“What?” He frowns, losing his train of thought until the Meowstic, with a cheeky show of his tongue at Razz, brings it back. “Think Salem disagrees with you.” [break][break]

Motivated by competitive fire from the battle, Aquila chases after her Flygon rival towards the sand before pulling up at the last minute, sending an AIR SLASH towards Shamrock’s back. [break][break]

“Sky’s competing in this thing, by the way. Maybe you’ll finally get a chance to take back a win,” he adds, lips curling sharp, poking with harmless fun at the ranger. “Or was it Salem that lost to her? Though, I guess if we're going by your logic, you’re both losers?”

"He would," Razz looks down at the cat who gives him a cheeky grin before he's back to giving orders. Still they're forced to play the defensive as the dragon takes the order and DIGS down under the earth to avoid the Air Slash coming at her. Clearly she was biding her time waiting for the right moment. [break][break]

"Oh really? guess eventually we'll have to fight her too huh buddy?" he questions Salem who just lifts his arms in a 'yeah!' kinda way. He still had little interest in battles, but it wasn't like his dispatcher was calling him in much for missions for one reason or another. "And nah my lost to her was pure me, Salem was left on the boat."

“She's around somewhere... Try the closest bar after I’m done kicking your ass - Oh wait, Shamrock touched the... Nevermind.” For a moment, Angelo's eyes had lit up like a kid of Christmas when the Flygon hit the sand, before his tiny brain cell decided to kick in. [break][break]

With a hot-headed and impatient screech that her opponent is hiding where she cannot follow, Aquila pushes herself up towards the sky and releases her frustration in the form of a HURRICANE. Wild winds slamming down towards the beach with ripping ferocity, the Pidgeot sending sand and umbrellas flying in her attempt to force the Flygon from her burrow.[break][break]

“Aqu–!“ Angelo splutters on a mouthful of sand, cringing internally as the familiar grains lodge in his throat. [break][break]

Beneath them, their respective lifeguard towers start to groan and sway…
