A rainy day, on an excursion to Route 121. It was nostalgic, just a few blocks from where he and Chryssa crashed after ducking the feds. Trying his luck? Definitely. Not without cause though. A month ago, he'd taken a trip via Phantom Force. Been exposed to the surreal beauty of the dreary grey world.

The rain seemed to cling to his plum-skin colored scarf. He decided to call it quits and make the pilgrimage to Mount Pyre, if only for shelter. Entering the mouth of the cave, he felt dead silence. The only sounds audible were murmurings of people here to pay respects, and the sound of rain pelting every surface outside, be it metal rock or the river.

Uncomfortable. Not because he was couldn't smoke, he just felt out of place in the populated rooms. Giona clenched his teeth, steering himself up a flight of stairs, into a room adjacent to one filled by trainers. "Oh nooooo. I'm all alone." He said, pantomiming clutching his pearls. A month ago, a Haunter nearly took his head off. Now, he seemed to be daring such creatures to try again. Just as an insurance policy, he drew a recently obtained Honedge forth, from a pokeball that was Kohl-black. "I need to take you for a walk." He said, his weird vocalizations ringing out through the room.

A ghost who could walk? A Honedge probably wasn't the best candidate. But giona ferrara was about to encounter another who was.

Using two of its phantom hands as a pair of feet, a Cofagrigus emerges out from the dark of a nearby tunnel in a goofy gait. A stamped seal upon its sarcophagus (the Galarian Royal seal, if one were privy to such things) was the only indication that it belonged to a trainer.

It seemed to ignore the trainer and his Honedge as it passed by, and stopped only to acknowledge the presence of two pokémon closing in on their position...

The rain seemed to cling to his plum-skin colored scarf. He saw a big bulky coffin charge from one room to the next, causing him to flinch, then nearly faint. Honedge tried its best to catch him. Were it unsheathed, he'd have been hoist by his own petard already. Cutting decades of going to jail, getting out, and getting talked down to short.

He took a deep breath to regain his composure, hair from his fresh undercut standing on end despite being a 16th of an inch long. Giona then charged in after Cofagrigus. "You!!" He said, before coming to a stop. The still-damp soles of his boots squeaked as he adjusted his feet.

There sat Gastly. The little ball with the same face as that Haunter that nearly punched a hole in his head. He whistled for Honedge, and sicced the sword on it. He then turned to Cofagrigus and bowed his head. "Thank you." He said, still a little shaken. After a brief exchange of Night Shade and Iron Head, he threw a Rocket patterned red and kohl-black pokeball at Gastly.

The Cofagrigus turned to meet the trainer's gaze with a curious one of its own. Despite its immutable toothy grin, the phantom was still able to express such an emotion as confusion when it was thanked shortly thereafter.

Its confusion is rudely interrupted, however, when it is struck by a PSYBEAM from its side. The tough sarcophagus takes the brunt of the hit, and the Cofagrigus turns to snatch the little alien up with two phantom hands. Each thumb then slowly sinks into its cranium, inflicting the Elgyem with a debilitating CURSE. It twitches and groans in place.

Suddenly, with a haunting creak, the sarcophagus opens.

Beyond it: a door of deep dark.

The spectacled ambassador steps out from this unfathomable darkness, luxury ball in hand, before stopping between the Cofagrigus and the Elgyem it holds up to stare at the latter. After a few moments, and without a word, the royal lifts the luxury ball up with one hand and taps it against the little alien's forehead. It disappears in a flash of light.

"Interesting..."

He seems to be lost in thought now, unaware of the other.

The coffin met him with a toothy grin! Some would balk at the display, but he found it to be cute! And then... a guy popped out. He held a pokeball to Elgyem's head after it was squeezed mercilessly. He had a little bit of envy for the royal.

Honedge found itself irked by a trail left by a pile of sand trying to slip by. It came unsheathed and used Iron Head, clobbering the sand and making the metal on rock scraping sound when it parted the 'body' of this thing and went straight into the floor. Its tip got caught, and was met with Sand Tomb. Its immobilization was immediately met with scorn rather than sympathy, waves of sand scratching it further.

Giona didn't seem to mind, having already claimed his prize. The spitting image of that purple shadow that bedeviled him. He knelt and scooped up the kohl-black ball in one hand. He could hear Remiel speak up, and quickly turned it away to hide the candy-red R. He then heard the sound of the sand scraping against metal, and threw a pokeball in its direction, if only to make the two knock it off. The sand disappeared with a red beam, and the ball fidgeted on the worn tile floor.

Honedge on the other hand was all tuckered out, and Giona withdrew it with an identical red beam. He then turned to face Remiel. "Oh. I didn't see you there when I first walked in. What's up?" He asked, ever the country bumpkin. Couldn't be bothered to look someone up online.

The spectacled royal turns to regard the stranger calmly. Cofagrigus' arms retreat, allowing the man enough space to step forward before the sarcophagus slams shut behind him. "What's... up?" He reiterates, briefly interrupted when a Duskull materializes beside him in an attempt to ASTONISH.

Its efforts are in vain against the ambassador's heavy indifference, however, and squashed entirely when the Cofagrigus snatches the ghost and wraps it up in a binding cloth (MUMMY) as it mischievously chuckles. His master takes notice, pulling out an empty luxury ball from his pack before tapping it against this one, too.

"The spirits in this place have awakened for the night... I suspect a disturbed gravesite." Placing the captured Duskull away, he turns to regard the stranger again before placing a hand over his heart and slightly bowing. "Remiel Calcifet, at your service."

Giona knelt down to scoop up the capsule on the ground, cramming it in one pocket. He then stood up and dusted himself off. He was a little restless, and felt warm between his ears.

Giona paused, taken aback by what he said. He looked at the floor, polished by the scouring pad of a recent sand tomb. He looked up again, making his dangling earrings jiggle. "I don’t know enough about ghosts to agree or disagree. I’m Giona." He said, before hearing rustling on the paved floor nearby amidst the quiet two.

There stood an squid that walked like a man. It was just standing there, yes. But its beak glistened as if it were to use Peck. Giona called forth a mountain lion in response. A capable thing gifted by someone who’s still light-years ahead of him. He then turned to Remiel and bowed his head. "Nonetheless. I’ll help keep these things off you while you investigate." He said, still a little shaken.

The two lunged at eachother, one using Tackle and the other using Spark. Letting the hairless mammal land on it before tasing it. The squid peeled off slowly, slightly shaken. Giona threw a Rocket patterned ball to stop it from fully recovering and attacking again.

Giona: a name with origins near Kalos, meaning 'dove' or 'bird-like'. He didn't say as much out loud, however. His analysis were usually met with indifference. Especially with Hoennians who were born here, and never knew anything else. To them, the history of a name didn't matter as much as what they could do with it.

"Pleasure to meet you," The ambassador responds, glancing at the Malamar before being drawn away by the faint rumble within a wall nearby. He fails to see Giona's bow, but he hears it nonetheless. "I would certainly appreciate it, thank you."

Suddenly, another Cofagrigus bursts out from the wall, stone grey rubble spilling out onto the ground as it charges Remiel. The one with the Galarian Royal stamp is sure to intercept, however, and the two phantoms lock hands as they struggle against each other (POWER SPLIT). After his unnerves the other with a MEAN LOOK, however, the royal produces a luxury ball and tosses it at their opponent. The struggle ends in a flash of light.

Giona nodded. He flinched when Cofagrigus burst from the wall, but as it fell, the two were flanked by two new intruders. A Medicham, more suited to the mountain trails, stood out to Giona. "I'll be done with this one soon." He said, before hearing rustling on the paved floor as the two neared them.

The cat growled, leaning on its hind legs. It was a lethargic sort of thing. Told off by Giona before, for not being as alert as it seemed to be around Emma. "So, what leads you to think it's a disturbed gravesite?" He asked, as the Medicham circled Luxray, whose tail swished back and forth.

Luxray lunged forth, fangs flashing gold. A Thunder Fang sunk into Medicham, clipping its arm. It flinched, and Giona whistled a low A note, barely more compressed than simply exhaling. Luxray then used Spark, on the thing it had pinned. Giona wouldn't spare a ball for this one.

A Reuniclus oozed out from the cracks in the stone ceiling. "The increased activity of Pokémon that could be considered... supernatural." Remiel calmly responds, watching as the amoeba finishes phasing through and becoming whole again. "Have you noticed the steep temperature drop as well?"

Attempting to lower the Cofagrigus' defenses with its bright CHARM, the Reuniclus genuinely seemed like it only wanted to play. And, perhaps, it did. Regardless, the somewhat malevolent phantom seized it with its dark hands anyway (MUMMY) before flinging open its sarcophagus and stowing the creature away within its deep, dark depths (MEAN LOOK). It was an unconventional way of capturing a Pokémon, but Remiel would make sure to place it within its own luxury ball at a later time tonight.

"We should get moving," The black-haired archaeologist suggests, leading the way further down the mausoleum's hallway. "The remains are likely at the heart of this mountain."
