The Lavaridge Museum was iconic. From its cramped,  claustrophobic ticket booth styled to look like cave tunnels, to the high-vaulted prehistoric wing filled with propped or hung skeletons of the world's (once) mightiest predators. 

"I love this place!" Zac said, ducking down into one of the dark tunnels that connected the wings. He popped out in a green-tinted room filled with fake sunlight and the sound of flapping wings. The etymological exhibit. Scale models of Mothim, Butterfree, and even a bisected Burmy were pinned to the walls in an antiseptic, educational display. "There's always something to learn here!"

"It does need a bit of a revamp though," he admitted. With all the recent discoveries on Ultra Beasts, Mega Evolution, and the fast-moving history of Hoenn, the museum needed to make room for some new exhibits. Maybe even a whole new wing for science and recent history. "Good thing we're here to help 'em, ay Diance?" Zac asked the floating legendary. She drifted graceful through the room, weaving between the dusty exhibits. The museum had been a technological marvel sixty years ago. Now it was deserted on weekdays. 

Zac's was the best kind of plan: simple, and multi-purpose. 
  • Get experience battling legendaries
  • Use Mega Evolution
  • Protect the exhibits and 'civilians'
  • Test and train Diance
  • Get the museum some publicity on the side

Zac sent out a few of his Minior cameramen to capture the fight, and two Ditto that would be masquerading as civilians for the day. "Dina, Rena, can you take the shape of some civilians?" Zac asked the little globs. They shuddered and stretched like goo, solidifying into the black-eyed forms of and . "Perfect!"

[attr="class","matias"]matias is indifferent to the museum but he does fancy the opportunity to battle a legendary, so there are no doubts in his mind when he steps through the doors, entering the iconic lavaridge museum.

he gives his attention to the various exhibits, eyeing them with slight interest before he enters the etymological exhibit.

"zac."

there's no need to ask for confirmation — he easily recognizes the man in front of him. his reputation speaks for itself. he approaches, extends a hand only out of courtesy, then shifts his attention to diancie.

"diancie."

a grin starts to tug at his lips.

"we here to help redecorate?"

Zac shook Matias' hand, warmly and enthusiastically. "Nice to meet ya mate! Yeah, redecorating in a manner of speaking." He looked around at the nostalgic exhibits. It was almost a shame to be breaking them down. But time marched ever onwards.

"First we have a battle, trying to keep the exhibits and the civilians safe," Zac said pointing a thumb at the copies of Melody and Ki. "Then, we smash the whole place to rubble."

"Finally," Zac said, pulling out a clipboard. "We fill out this self-evaluation on how we did today." He smiled, face filled with good-humored tolerance. "You know how the League loves their paperwork."

he almost roll his eyes but settles on a gentle sigh instead. his attention had been spent glancing around the room to take in their surroundings. he lingers a bit on fake melody, even going so far as to offer it an amused wave.

"that's uncanny."

but a bit weird. so he returns his attention and reaches a hand up to pat zac's muscular shoulder.

"nice to meet you, too, zac. i'll follow your lead."

"And I'll follow your lead!" Zac said, gesturing openly to Diance, who floated in the center of the room like a weightless chandelier. She spun, eyeing the room, weighing up threats and valuables. Zac sent out two Pokemon, and she evaluated them too, picking her first targets.

Making her decision, long spears of pink diamond formed, aiming at Melody, at Matias, at Zac's Sceptile and at a gorgeous painting of a flock of Vivillion that hung on the far wall.

A deep chime sounded, and the pink spears shot towards their targets.

Protect the targets!

pokeballs immediately flash open just in time to counter the long spears of pink diamond that form.

"PROTECT."

cloyster tanks the POWER GEM for matias; spear cracking against its shell as a shield of PROTECT forms around fake-melody, keeping her safe as well.

gengar shoots forward to throw a SUCKER PUNCH at diancie, interrupting her just in time to stop the final POWER GEM from targeting the painting.

that's matias' job done.

"nice. stay on your toes."

this time, diancie targets ZAC, SCEPTILE, and the same painting of a flock of VIVILLION.
