It was going to take Stormy hours to clean the sand and mud and saltwater from the Ninetales fur. She already regrets sending her out here, and she's sure the Ninetales will have something to say about it too.[break][break]

But she is further along the bank, having run to tend to Wadjet. The old girl is mostly tired, shuffling her way out of the water to full-body shake herself down. The mega-evolution fades, leaving behind the familiar skin, ebony black instead of iridescent green. She groans, allowing Stormy to gather her head in her arms.[break][break]

And Ninetales is devoured by the storm. [break][break]

Wind pulls and tugs and snags, sand stings her eyes and burns her paws. It feels like she is being tossed around in a violent typhoon, unable to catch her breath. She doesn't see the SHADOW BALL coming. When it hits, she collapses, tails spread like whisps of smoke against the sand. [break][break]

Stormy, soaked through and down on her luck, waits for the rain to subside to collect her other fallen Pokemon. Beams of light bring them back to their capsules and she waves Angelo down.[break][break]

"I think you owe Wad an apology."

Okay, so the Shedinja ass-kicking didn’t go exactly to plan, considering the creepy husk was the only remaining pokemon left on the field… But it had been a good battle, regardless. [break][break]

Returning Volans in a beam of light, the clouds finally part to make way for the setting sun again, bathing the rain-soaked competitors in a burning glow. The crashing of a wild storm making way for fiery, warmer tones – peacefulness restored. [break][break]

Angelo jogs across the beach, sand kicking off his heels, as he beelines towards poor ol’ Wadjet who’d taken one too many water dunks in the span of five minutes. “Sorry, Wad.” He apologises to the Charizard, calloused fingers reaching out to pat against her neck as his Shedinja makes to silently follow.[break][break]

“Let me make it up to you.” Behind him, Shedinja bumps into the back of Stormy’s head and lingers against brunette hair, as if resting or making some soulless hug attempt… Creepy fucker.[break][break]

“Can get you some fries? With ketchup? How’s the sound?”
