a few days after her meeting up with Remiel at the Rocket HQ, she would go to the place he requested to meet at. Siobhan had no desire to be late but neither was she looking forward to it. primal energy readings were high and low here - she should be excited. yet the way they parted ways was less than desirable.

it was clear if she didn't play his little games that he went right to business. what he wanted from her as well. Siobhan would tag along until she got out of this debt to the Galarian Ambassador. nothing more was hoped from these excursions, save for a chance to research. as much as she enjoyed debating theories with him, dancing around their words...

it was also annoying. she wished he'd just come out and say what he meant, instead of her pulling his teeth to get it. glancing to and fro, she searched for signs of Remiel Calcifet in the foliage.

A bright, colorful thing flitted through the tropical trees with natural stride. It was an Archen, an ancient bird from tens of thousands of years ago, scouting ahead in search of its master's target. Before long, the feathered creature would find them, and perch itself upon a vine-covered branch above before emitting a strange, shrill caw.[break][break]

The bird hopped from branch to branch anxiously afterwards until, finally, a man dressed in a mostly beige explorer's ensemble emerged out from the foliage to the south. Remiel Calcifet set his eyes upon Siobhan with their usual, nonchalant stare. He wasn't thinking about the night before at all. Today was all about their assignment. "Ready to go in further?"

the shrieking grounded avian caused her to sharply look up before the crunching of brush caused her to look back down. Remiel's Pokémon, she assumed correctly. "yes" she would get down to business immediately, inwardly amused at his choice of attire. her outfit consisted of the usual casual summer clothing, though swapping boots for heels "what are we searching for specifically?"

she needed to know what to look for, after all. Siobhan would pull out a small notebook and pen, beginning to write down their surroundings. the date. the time. the usual. documentation was required in such situations. she would glance expertly up, jumping over overgrown root systems to continue along the path if they began to walk.

she would also take a backseat to Remiel's lead, content to let him take it. this was his excursion after all.

Remiel took the lead with little hesitance, his Archen leaping off its branch and sweeping past him even further as it continued its scouting. "Meteorites. Strange glowing fragments. Pokémon unusual to the area... or unusual in general." He replied, squeezing past the two trunks of a V-shaped tree.[break][break]

"You must have read about our recent excursions, I'm sure." Just as he finishes asking the question, however, Albian releases another shrill alarm ahead. It appears they have some trouble incoming.[break][break]

Hoenn was a beacon for meteorite activity. it triggered the arrival of many events, so cutting off the head of the snake would be beneficial. especially if they found any of the space rocks. taking them back to HQ for the scientists to study could prove an advancement ahead of the League.

she does not answer him at first, her eyes focusing on a Bulbasaur that tottered by. Siobhan paused before relenting; she was not going to bother capturing it. the Kanto starter was safe from her Pokeballs. "a bit" she admits "Xerneas is being sought." this was common knowledge. so - considering this...

she kept her theories to herself. for now. she needed more intel before telling Remiel Calcifet anything. "the previous champion was an Avatar for Groudon, correct?" Siobhan wondered if Remiel had ever fought Bailey Cooper.

Oh? Just a Bulbasaur.[break][break]

Regardless, Albian descends upon it as ferociously as he would have a prowling Luxray. There's a mad storm of feathers, talons, and Bulbasaur cries as it is scorched with blue fire (DRAGON BREATH). Paralyzed by these mystical flames, the amphibian teeters back and forth until Remiel pulls out a luxury ball and tosses it. It is devoured in a flash of light shortly thereafter.[break][break]

"That's correct," Remiel responds, moving forward to bend down and pick up the newly captured Pokémon. "Her name was Bailey Cooper. Primal energy was the cause of her death. Or, at the very least, that's what most believe." He adds. "I suppose obtaining god-like power really does come with a price." And he wondered when his own bill was due.[break][break]

Siobhan hadn't seen Bailey Cooper's body. she had read reports by Rocket, but if she could examine the fallen champion - perhaps another conclusion could be reached. it was worrisome for the Avatars - was fatality the price for power?

"I wonder if the other Avatars are affected, or if it was just Groudon's manic energy?" Kyogre was another affected by Primal... but their Avatar... she did not know. "I would like to believe it was an isolated incident."

but hope was hardly ever a result. she passed a glance over the fossil bird as it assaulted the Bulbasaur - and the grass type effectively captured. she did not raise a hand to attack the Bounsweet, conserving her Pokeballs for later.

They move ahead, further into the jungle and its all-consuming foliage. "I do, but I always leave healthy room for doubt. There's plenty we don't know about the circumstances leading up to her supposed death. Groudon is part of a super-ancient trio that continues to mystify academics to this day, and Bailey Cooper tapped into that. Her death is just as mystifying."[break][break]

Suddenly, an annoying buzz fills their ears and brings the conversation to a halt. It is a Yanma, flitting out from the branches above to pester them with a curious sniff. Just when it seems it is about to take a nibble of Siobhan's hair, however, Albian swoops in from above to strike the bug down with its claws. Remiel intervenes just before the ancient bird bites the bug into digestible pieces, saving its life with a luxury ball.[break][break]

"have you ever faced her in battle?"

Siobhan was curious how Remiel fared in a fight. surely well, considering he was a long standing Rocket. they did not promote just anyone. so yes, she could respect the man. he was mystifying to her, an unknown.

someone to potentially avoid outside of work-related things. even if she could... subtly see he was attractive. but good luck mentioning that willingly to him. he didn't seem to have an ego, but she didn't want to stroke it all the same.

a Fletchling flew above her head. Siobhan glances up, smiling faintly as it hopped from one branch to the next. if Remiel's Pokemon went to attack it, she would watch curiously. a prehistoric bird against one who could fly...

fascinating.

Siobhan witnesses what she predicted. In a blur of colour, the Archen snatches the Fletchling from the sky with its talons and scorches it with blue fire (DRAGON BREATH) as they spiral downward onto the ground. The little fire bird tries desperately to PECK its assailant away, and succeeds briefly enough to free itself of the talons. It is captured by a luxury ball Remiel has thrown afterwards, however.[break][break]

The prince steps ahead to retrieve the captured Pokémon as he responds to the latest inquiry. "Once before, yes. But she was none the wiser." The attempt on her life had been made with his first shadowed Pokémon, and ended rather bloody. But Remiel had only been testing her to gain information: an effort that proved to be useless in the face of her untimely death.[break][break]

Picking up the ball and placing it away within his pack, Remiel turns back to Siobhan with an inquiry of his own. "I'm curious... do you idolize her?" He asks, his Archen perching itself on his shoulder. "She was one of the earliest avatars, you know. That I know of, anyway."[break][break]
