Losing was starting to get old, leaving Adrian frustrated. Inconsolable.

He'd been battling for most of the day, losing most of his matches when he couldn't rely on his pinch hitters, as well as being surprised by a few trainers and the coverage and utility they packed into their teams. It was unlike the League Gym Challenge, where you had the benefit of foreknowledge. Every trainer was as varied as were their pokemon.

So he'd let his ego get the better of him now as he brandished three of his more elusive pokemon, knowing full well he shouldn't. But that was pride for you.

Pryde can't help but blink at the trio of pokemon in front of him. Two of them were things of pure legend and honestly didn't seem like something that should even be here. The last one he's never heard of. Though he knows he's heard a few people in the audience say something about 'Ultra Beast' or some crap like that. Seems like someone was not wanting to play nice in these silly games. [break][break]

Its because they're all such an unknown to him 'Lloyd' decides on his three pokemon. "Lets weaken them," he orders as he snaps his fingers with his good hand. From there the team works together as Grapploct uses LEER on the trio to try and lower their defense. Cursola uses CURSE hurting herself as he aims to put a curse on Heatran. Finally Jellicent dances around it's team casting RAIN DANCE, as while he is not too familiar with the red beast he knows a fire type when he sees it. [break][break]

He has no doubt that he'll lose this, but he won't go down without being annoying as fuck.

Cursola, really? Everything else was negligible, but that thing... It was going to give him trouble. That said, Adrian conveniently brought along something of an answer.

Heatran remained immobile, suited better as an ambush predator, choosing instead to protect itself and bide its time. Thus it would seem wholly inert, sluggish even.

"Urshifu, form up on Naganadel," Adrian barked before slicing a sideways palm downwards, visually bisecting the Cursola and thus giving the command. Naganadel, leveling its stinger, would thrust forward before unleashing a spurt of acrid vitriol upon the poor creature, eliminating its pesky ability. "Now hit 'em with all you've got!"

In the shadow of Naganadel's movements Urshifu would have advanced, its brow damp with the steady rain before driving a singular, crushing blow into its husk of alabaster.

Another whistle and Cursola would use GRUNDGE. Pryde intending things for when the coral pokemon went down. When the Gastro Acid comes though he is annoyed with a plan foiled. Though he supposes with the purple color he should've expected a poison type. How annoying, but it did leave Cursola open for her to be hit with the WICKED BLOW. Knocking the Cursola out as already most of her health has gone from the earlier CURSE. [break][break]

Though because it was now near the Grapploct would lock its arms around the fighting bear to toss it with SEISMIC TOSS. With it so close by Pryde decides it’ll become the target as he gives a new whistle and Jellicent uses WATER PULSE on the bear like pokemon.

With its greatest strength depleted, Adrian instead looks to their defenses in the knowledge that their current 'advantage' is superficial in nature. Heatran's curse runs it ragged, though it remains in the fight for now. Even as they make the knockout, Pryde's team closes in on Urshifu. Keen ursine eyes DETECT the threat ahead of time, enabling it to narrowly elude their grasp through sheer martial prowess and reflex.

"Help him," Adrian urges his other pokemon into action. Holding on for now, Heatran causes superheated sands to burst from pockets in the ground, seeking out the Grapploct. The stream of silica is abrasive where it contacts flesh, and the thermal induction and friction alone create an intense, searing heat that can be felt radiating from the storm of sand with the potential to leave a burn.

Naganadel retreats to a perch in the sky, anchoring itself before lobbing a glob of TOXIC resins at the bulbous head of the Jellicent.

Well one plan was ruined, but he didn’t expect to win to begin with. The moment the other called out his pokemon it was changed to pure study. Seems like the bear like pokemon was quite the fighter though to be able to detect so quickly. [break][break]

Though with it nearby Grapploct would not let up. For now it would brace itself as the SCORCHING SAND comes from below, damaging them. Though it knows better than to let up. Worse would happen should he not keep going so after taking the hit it would keep going using ROCK SMASH.[break][break]

While Grapploct handles the bear, Jellicent switches targets after being poisoned by TOXIC. Using WHIRLPOOL on Heatran to trap them in a pool of swirling water to add to the curse that was on them.

Urshifu is handicapped, incapable of using its signature move, but the Grapploct's aggression lends to its capabilities as it strikes forward with a SUCKER PUNCH; its fist to Grapploct's amorphous form, its body is rocked with the force of the impact. Yet all the same Grapploct's attack fell upon Urshifu, the ROCK SMASH connecting.

It was a jarring blow that added to Urshifu's intensity, fueling the fury.

Heatran was a lost cause. Between the curse and the whirlpool, it would succumb. Adrian wouldn't pay it any mind except withdrawing it until it could receive treatment.

Naganadel was given free reign of the sky, unlreashing an acid downpour, drenching Jellicent in venom that burned to the touch. Caught in the VENOM DRENCH, it would be sapped of its strength and vigor as surely as Heatran had succumbed to its curse.

While the SUCKER PUNCH is not as effective thanks to typing, but with the power difference between the legend and the simple Grapploct it still stings. How long they’ll be able to last he’s not sure, but fears what’ll happen if he doesn't keep trying. After the first Rock Smash hits, Grapploct does what he can to go all in. Their body glowing in a light blue aura as they strike with all their might with SUPERPOWER. [break][break]

Meanwhile with one pokemon down, the Jellicent would attempt to focus on the other, creating another WHIRLPOOL to trap the poison bee pokemon.

"Urshifu, COUNTER it!" They couldn't hope to win if he spent every other round playing defense, so instead Adrian hoped to prey on Grapploct's advantage, allowing Urshifu to strike back with a borrowed strength. As for Naganadel...

Trapped inside the vortex, it could not aggress the Jellicent or Grapploct personally, limiting much and more of its arsenal. But as the battle pressed on, the poison would exact its toll, and Adrian would seek then to exacerbate this decline: VENOSHOCK would reach the poisoned victim, drawing on the venom coursing through them, debilitating them from the inside out and instilling a dread sense of malaise.

It seems despite the SUPERPOWER the legend's strength is still superior to that of a normal pokemon. In the end it couldn't take down odd looking bear and was struck back with COUNTER. Knocking it both out of the ring, and unconscious. Though at least it tried, and it put up a tough battle. [break][break]

With only the ghost left he figured he would give a specific whistle, two on one it wouldn't be able to handle itself. Before getting hit with VENOSHOCK, it would cast DESTINY BOND. It wasn't going to take much more to take it out, but it'll be damn it it wouldn't try to bring something down with it.

Urshifu seemed to retreat, perhaps only hanging on by a hair's breadth after the pummeling Grapploct had administered. With the ursine creature hanging back, Nagandel was forced to action. In a flourish of its stinger it parted the swirling waters enveloping it, allowing it to slip through and drive its needle towards the Jellicent before executing a THROAT CHOP. But it slipped through its ghostly form.

Even so the creature succumbed to the poison, and its final act dragged Naganadel screaming with it, causing Adrian to recoil with empathy.

There was never an expectation to win in this battle, mostly just to see how far he could go. Watch as several of these legends were not as invincible as their stories, but there power difference was still clear. Honestly if it weren't for the combination of moves in addition to the moves that take out these monsters this probably would've been much more one sided. [break][break]

Alass all good things must end and with the THROAT CHOP Jellicent was down. Though thanks to DESTINY BOND, they should go down just the same leaving the bear as the only victor. Though Pryde seems more amused than displeased as he returns his pokemon. "Not bad, getting to see such interesting creatures up close was quite amusing"

"I definitely never expected it to be so close." Adrian returns his pokemon, clearly frazzled by the outcome. Sure, he'd won. But the fact it'd been so close chaffed his pride. But then again, he hadn't trained as closely with these beasts as he had with pokemon like Rover, Furor and Howitzer in the past. They were still learning to work together, and with Adrian, and that such a bond could make such an impact...

It spoke much to the mettle of trainers. Stowing away his pokeballs, he would've liked to cross the field and shake hands with his opponent before moving on with his day.

"Never doubt the power of pokemon willing to give their life in a battle," he advises, though he suppose one could argue that ghost pokemon had no life to begin with. However with the way he trained his pokemon, a small thing like giving themselves up to try and take down the enemy was the safer option.[break][break]

After he would move over toward his opponent to offer his right arm to shake, give a bit of a good game, "Adrian Malcolm right?" he questions making sure he got the name right for later. At the moment not knowing of the other's involvement in the same work.
