it was days after.

[break][break] the emotions still felt raw, although now dulled, from the moments before. to be honest, he tried not to think about it too much — he couldn't handle it, not a break down like that again. Cillian Quinn would be disappointed if he knew. he didn't want Chu-e Choi to know either.

[break][break] it was childish.

[break][break] jayden stands on a wooden patio, a raised platform on the middle of the beach where the trainers are to sit. around him, there are the dusky projections of his various ghost types, flickering in and flickering out around him. darkness seems to seep out of every pore.

[break][break] in his hand, he nurses a tropical-themed margarita, swirly straw and all. the whole situation is comically ironic, the bright colors of his beverage standing in stark contrast to the swirling emotions that he feels inside.

I'm addicted to the panic

His opponent was someone named Michail Volkov, they were someone that he didn't know, but that also described about ninety five percent of the population. It wasn't out of the ordinary for him to not know someone, but it was strange that the person he was battling was drinking, and they sent out a Spoink. Were they not going to battle seriously? Taking out his own Pokeball he tossed it into the air releasing his Shelgon. As someone had taught him earlier in his battles that asking for forgiveness was better than permission, though if this guy was actually drunk, Amor wasn't going to take advantage of him, or at least that is how he thought about it.

"Would you like to take the first move?" He asked the man who was drinking curiously, hoping that would snap him out of whatever daze that he was in. They were on the beach, so Amor was shirtless soaking up the sun, and wearing sandals with his swim trunks on. Anzu, his Shelgon, was waiting on standby.

[break][break] it was questionable how, considering the state that he was in. a white-knuckled grip on his cocktail, jayden looks up to the see the unfamiliar silver-haired face of another. his opponent, probably.

[break][break] at his words, jayden nods curtly. an agreement. he isn't sure he has room for anything else.

[break][break] the boy glances towards his pokemon. "odin." the spoink, who had been bouncing gently, glances up at his trainer as his name is said. jayden had been unpredictable thus far, but the way his trainer now looks at him is anything but unpredictable. he knows exactly what he wants.

[break][break] sucking in a breath, the psychic type bears down before BOUNCING into the air. his tiny gray form barely visible as it disappears into the sunshine gleaming above.

Amor was looking at his opponent curiously, he had no idea what was going on in his head, and his curiosity was piqued, but at the end of the day it was none of his business. He couldn't save everyone, at least with not how he was currently, he didn't have the power required to do it. Nor the resources, so as much as he wanted to play therapist to this man, perhaps ask him if everything was okay, he refrained from doing so. He had given his Pokemon a command, at least in not so many words. It seemed he had a bond with his Pokemon similar to the one Amor had with a few of his dragons, where they didn't need verbal orders. They could just tell what you wanted. Amor could respect that, so when the Spoink disappeared into the air, he just looked to Anzu.

"Prepare for it's descent, don't move." He ordered the Dragon, and it simply growled in recognition, and waited for the little piggy to come back down.

Anzu had only ever sparred the other Pokemon back at Amor's mansion in their training grounds. They were all fearsome opponents, but he wasn't going to be done in by some moving bacon. The thought of it was absurd, and he readied himself for the upcoming crash that would undoubtedly be colliding with him. However the flames in his mouth were already brimming forth because the moment that Pokemon was in his sights he would engulf it in a torrent of flames.

it was a good thing that amor didn't pry. even if he'd tried, there wouldn't be much to uncover.

[break][break] that was what the drink was for. the dark-haired nursed the drink in his hand, sipping the colorful margarita. siobhan burke had introduced him to the joy of tropical-flavored drinks days ago, when they'd had their battle. but that was before — before the hurt, the pain, the suffering. before he'd seen —

[break][break] his spoink flew high into the air, disappearing into the bright light. amor takes the approach of patience, so the two wait for a few moments before there is a gleam in the sky above them. energy surges around odin with the power of BOUNCE, the speed and power gathering in his descent. the higher he falls, the harder he hits. even as the flames surge around him, enveloping him, odin does not stop his descent, hell-bent on smashing his opponent deep into a crater in the ground.

The Spoink came crashing down on top of Anzu, and the Shelgon didn't dodge. It's shell was made of sterner stuff than that Spoink, but that didn't mean it still didn't hurt. The power of it colliding against him caused a crater to form underneath his body, and he sank into it, but this was perfect. It meant that he wouldn't catch his trainer, or the opposing one in his attack. With the Spoink now in a hole of his own making with Anzu, he roared, and unleashed a horrific torrent of flames. Attempting to engulf the spoink, and catching the sand around them in the cross fire. The crater littered with flames would look like a pit into the depths of hades as Anzu attempted to scorch the Spoink.

If he was lucky he would even leave the little pokemon with a burn that would cause it's stamina to drop even faster. Snorting out a small ember as he finished his Flamethrower attack he looked around to see what sort of damage he done to his opponent. He hoped that the battle wouldn't be over that quickly, but if it was, so be it, it just meant he still didn't have a worthy rival Pokemon to fight against aside from the ones at home.

Amor watched as Anzu let loose that torrent of flames, and sighed a bit at the overeager dragon. Anzu had been this way since he was a Bagon, constantly pushing himself further, and harder than necessary so that he could achieve his final evolution, and become a Salamence. It was the same dream shared by all Bagon from what he had learned over the years, but Anzu was in his own special category of dedicated. Constantly he fought the fully evolved dragons that Amor had, no matter how much he lost he was the epitome of perseverance. It was almost impressive.

happy as all spoink seemed to be, that only seemed to be the surface. every spoink was different, but odin had the battlelust of a seasoned veteran within him.

[break][break] it was with such ferocity that he cascaded from the sky above, crashing through the air and locking the two in a crater. with any luck, his bounce would paralyze his foe. of course, his opponent seemed more than happy with this as he amped up the odds but caging them in a fiery hell of their own making. flames crackled through the air and smoke lifted the air as the two pokemon were locked in combat with each other.

[break][break] heat. pain. the impossible conclusion of what was to come. it was inevitable, really.

[break][break] the spoink's body lit up with MAGIC COAT, reflecting the burn that it might've received right back to it's owner.

It was using some strange attack that Anzu wasn't familiar with, but that wasn't anything to be concerned with there were many things that he wasn't familiar with, but that is when he felt it. The scorching heat of his flamethrower, not the attack itself, but the searing that lingered as if he had been Burned by his own attack. Anzu staggered for a second, and he just looked at the little piglet, and roared loudly, he was losing his temper now, how dare this thing do that to him. Psychic energy coursed through his entire body, and lit up around him in a pink aura, and Anzu launched himself at the Spoink with all the force he could muster.

Their crater was big enough, but whether this attack hit, or not they were going to destroy another section of the beach, it was hard to believe that such small Pokemon were able to wield such power, but Amor had given up long ago attempting to apply logic when it came to pure passion. Being burned by his own attack had set Anzu off, and he was going to make this Spoink pay dearly for daring to do that. With Zen Headbutt he would flatten this thing, and then he would receive headpats from Amor, and then hopefully he would be one step closer to evolving into Salamence. That was his entire goal after all.

Amor simply watched perhaps mildly amused as he realized that neither he, nor his opponent were actually commanding their Pokemon, but perhaps after the battle he would question the man, on how he got such a bond with his team. Perhaps it would help Amor figure out a way to bond with his Pokemon quicker, though that wasn't necessarily true. Any knowledge was good knowledge in his opinion.

his opponent's roar of defiance only seems to propel the spoink further, which makes the flames leaping off the other's coat that much more satisfying. it's always a great feeling when he's able to catch someone else offguard, and this battle was not an exception to it.

[break][break] however, that's where the error is made.

[break][break] odin is too busy gloating to notice the charge of another attack, and before he notices, something crashes into him. pain singes his skin where the other's burn licks him — not enough to catch on, however.

[break][break] the zen headbutt is also less than effective, but the close proximity exerts a pressure like no other.

[break][break] "don't back down." jayden's voice is low, but steady. shadows swirl at his feet as his ghost pokemon flicker in and out of presence around each other. the pokemon are dualing in a cage of their own making — but so is jayden.

[break][break] odin surges with the power of PAYBACK to aid him. bright red and purple light circle around him as he slams forward with incredible force.

Anzu had crashed into the bouncing bacon easily enough to catch him off guard, and that is when the little pig decided that it was going to try, and use a move that would increase in damage if it took damage. That was a solid strategy, but that wasn't going to work on Anzu, a barrier appeared around him as he used Protect to defend himself from the retaliation of his opponent. Snorting derisively at the psychic type in front of him, and he continued to glower at it with nothing short of annoyance. This thing wasn't worthy of anything in his opinion, and the dragon was not holding back on his attitude.

While he was safe within his barrier for the moment, Amor was thinking about their next plan of attack, though that depended on what their opponents did first. Amor was definitely one who preferred the wait, and see approach though it didn't always work out that way.

"Anzu make sure you brace yourself." He ordered his dragon, who growled to show that he was listening, and once his barrier faded he readied himself for whatever was going to come his way next. They were trapped in this fiery pit, and neither of them would leave until the other was finished. Perhaps this Spoink would even earn his respect at the end of this fight, but Anzu doubted it.

his PAYBACK slams into the other, but it bounces back like a buoy. the spoink lands back on it's spring, no-harm done except for the embarrassment of not having his attack hit.

[break][break] angry at being shown up, the spoink's shell begins to shimmer. first blue, then purple.

[break][break] that is, until, jayden's voice breaks through the void. "odin, up."

[break][break] the pokemon turns up, his trainer's voice speaking clarity. then with a nod, he decides his next plan of attack. once again, he bears down and then leaps into the air, his spring spiraling into nothing but light as he uses BOUNCE.

Anzu let out a 'tch' noise as the Spoink decided to use bounce again, but this time he was prepared for it, he knew that the power that this little thing could have, would back. So he began preparing for his counter attack once more, though he didn't know which move he should use on the thing.

"Anzu when it comes down, Dragon Breath!" He ordered his Pokemon simply, and Anzu began to let the draconic power fill his veins. It wouldn't be long before the little bouncy thing came down, and tried to smash into him again, but he didn't care. Setting his feet firmly into the ground he was prepared for it, he knew the pain that would undoubtedly come, but this was all just training, and in the end with each attack he would become stronger.

This was simply another obstacle that he had to overcome on his way to evolving into Salamence.

Now that was curious Amor was watching to see where the Spoink was going to descend from, and when he saw that it was going right for him, as Anzu's breath soared overhead striking it powerfully, and without regard, he didn't have any time to react. Anzu wouldn't reach him with how slow he was due to his shell, and so Amor simply braced himself for impact. Holding his arms up to protect him from the coming down pokemon he grit his teeth. It wouldn't be the first time a Pokemon had tried to kill him, and it certainly wouldn't be the last. That was when he felt it, the other trainer had noticed it much earlier, than he or Anzu, and had tackled Amor out of the way. The Spoink landed in a new crater of it's making, and Amor turned to the man who had just protected him, only to see that he was crying.

A pang of sympathy flooded through Amor's heart, it was never easy for him to see someone else cry. Amor didn't remember the last time he had cried, but it was a very long time ago, when smoke filled his lungs, and flames licked at his flesh. That day was the last time he had cried, that he could remember. The man who was still somewhat on top of him, Amor stopped looking at the battle, but Anzu was pissed.

This pig had just tried to attack his trainer, and he wasn't going to have any of that, an ear splitting roar would consume it's form as it rushed toward the Spoink a green energy coming off it's shell as it used Double Edge. It's Rock Head ability was going to protect it from any recoil that it might receive, but it was going to end this battle now, and teach this stupid pig a lesson that it would never forget if he had his way. Since it was paralyzed thanks to his trainers quick thinking on using Dragon Breath, this would be easy. Anzu no longer cared about the burns across his shell, all he was focused on was letting out the rage that he felt at this thing for daring to try, and harm Amor.

"Are you okay?" Amor asked the other trainer, meanwhile trying to drown out the battle that was about to pick up in intensity behind them.
