He was bored, and battling was a favored pastime, even when he was losing. "You got a preference? I can battle however..." Some trainers exclusively trainers swimmers, others flyers; others were bound to terrestrial battles based on the companions they'd made. Adrian boasted a healthy mix, not that most of them were trained.

Cursola was a pesky opponent to go up against. Previously in the tournament he'd battled a Raphael Pryde, and the pokemon had been a thorn in his side from the get go.

"Alright, Cursola. Armor up!" The bleached coral began to harden.

kabutops nods before sending a NIGHT SLASH their way.

"Drain them." Upon contact with the harrowing slash of Kabutops' sickle, Cursola's STRENGTH SAP kicked in, allowing what was taken to be returned before enfeebling its foe. Its brittle form chipped and crumbled away however, the WEAK ARMOR falling off and granting the creature increase haste... not that it was going anywhere.

his voice rings through the splashing of water. STRENGTH SAP weakens the kabutops but it engulfs itself in an AQUA JET regardless, charging in with reckless abandon.

Cursola was battered aside, more of its WEAK ARMOR falling away in bits and pieces, the ghostly pale of its faux flesh revealed beneath the chitinous exoskeleton. For its transgressions, Kabutops had earned its CURSE. Though Cursola suffered to have placed it, the haunting would exact a heavy toll on them both.

Cursola attempts to HEX the Kabutops in retribution. The poor thing looks like it would be scattered by the slightest breeze, and yet an ethereal form lingers in place no matter how hard it's struck, giving off an eerie lavender aura. It reminded him of wisterias.

After the last slash its brittle shell gave away completely, peeling away like smoldering ashes in the wind. Its body trembles and quivers as it tries to keep its shape, before the entire physical shell collapses and it is naught but an ectoplasmic entity. An anguished face begins to fade into nothing just as Adrian's pokeball siphons the remnants.

"I'd say you killed it, but it was already dead." He'd shrug, pun intended.

surprisingly, kabutops doesn't faint. maybe matias just miscalculated the timing in his head.

the battle ends with matias the winner.

"i've never seen one before. they're interesting."
