It isn't defeat but another example of selfishness.

As much as she needs him, she needs to be wanted in return. The thrill of being desired, of being chased, of not taking that first step is a deep one. She wishes to be devoured, to be overtaken by someone she determines to be worthy - and he is.

His bitterness is poison, but she has grown to crave the taste.

Fernando reaching for her and sealing her declaration with a kiss, regardless of the rage and the bitterness behind it, it soothes. As much as it hurts, it is relief.

He calls her a liar but she is anything but.
