It's been more than a week since they last met. Since he barged in on her, having a moment to herself in the garden. Oh, how the tables have turned.

Being from Fallarbor, he'd seen every face of Mount Chimney, and even gone inside its fiery tunnel to trek to the bigger cities. That's where he'd find himself now, trying to blow off some steam. Nothing in particular soured his mood the most, so much as an accumulation of little things. Forgetting Elaine's name after she just said it to him. Saying "you too" when someone told him to enjoy his drink. His budding nicotine habit rearing its ugly head.

In a lavender tracksuit, he set up camp, with a backpack on his back. He pulled out a rubber-sealed glass container holding the entirety of his berry haul. He smiled, looking to his companion, a crocodile that tried to look too cool for school. Nonetheless, Casey, offered it a full looking Rawst berry. "...Don't give me that look. I'm taking you for a walk, so you don't pick fights with the neighbor's Zangoose."

He was parked near the mouth of the fiery path, on the side closest to Mauville and Lavaridge. While Krokorok adjusted to the hot, soft ground, Casey heard footsteps, and turned to face the entrance, offering another berry to the silhouette of a woman, as his eyes adjusted again. "Oh, hi. I don't think I caught your name the last time we met."

Why did she think it was a good idea to go to the Fiery Path again? She remembered being nearly miserable last time.

Summer walked down the path, already feeling the stickiness on her skin from the heat building up. She heaved a sigh, looking at her Emboar who nearly met her height. Surtur looked pleased to be in such surroundings again, making small grunting noises as he stomped forward. He was adorable, but she didn't know how he could handle it.

Right. Because he was literally emitting fire.

"You know, you're going to chase off any Pokemon around here," she told him, earning a small snort from him. She laughed at him, shrugging. "I'm sorry, hun. It's the truth."

Having officially entered the path, she was surprised to run into someone so soon. Wait-

"Oh, it's you. From before," she said, raising her brows. "Uh... um... Casey?" Summer was terrible at names when she wasn't trying to swoon people into giving her their money.

Her name? "Oh. Summer."

Going up the path, he could hear her large companion, but not her joke that he'd scare everything off. Casey had a similar feeling about his Krokorok, and pointed a finger to something deeper in the mountain pass, a Magmortar, roughly even in size with her boar. "...It looks like he's found a worthy challenger."

The sweltering heat managed to even seep out of the mouth of Fiery Pass. His hair was catching all of the sweat that was just in and around his hairline, and growing heavy. Casey reached a hand up to slick it back, but his hair just fell around his face again. He smiled very briefly, when she remembered his name.

She could make him swoon, sure. He wouldn't even mind 'misplacing' a check or two. He could just get a big guest on his podcast and make his advertising invoice slightly bigger. "...It's a fitting name. You're practically glowing, right now."

He was more tired than he could've imagined, and saw fit to sit on the ground. Krokorok curled around him. The two were approached by what looked to be a little purple rodent. Wouldn't be a fitting challenge for his croc, so Casey held out a berry for it, from his glass container. He was no stranger to little cuts and bruises, so letting the needle-covered thing eat out of his hand was no big deal. After about three or four berries, Nidoran rolled over for him, and Casey pushed a pokeball against it.

He then turned his attention to Summer again. "I'm so glad that we met in that garden... Plants are like people, y'know? They just need care and attention to truly be themselves."

The Magmortar appeared, locking eyes with Summer's Emboar. Surtur was quick to stand his ground and try to maintain dominance as well. However, Summer wasn't interested in a fight. Rather, she wanted that Magmortar. So, she took her ball and threw it from a distance to try to catch it, just so it wouldn't attack if she decided to approach it.

"Surtur? He's not as scary as he seems," she said, unable to hide the smirk from her face as her Emboar looked at her and gave her a loud snorting protest. "He's a good boy."

She adjusted her hair in the ponytail that held it, unable to help the fly aways that stuck out from her head because of the heat. Oh, well. At least it wasn't in her face, which definitely turned a shade pinker after he complemented her.

"Glowing? From sweat, maybe..." she deflected, laughing sheepishly. Was he like this with everyone?

She wondered.

The Nidoran seemed attracted to Casey, calm and enticed by his berry. "I guess you're right. You need the right conditions to thrive..." She thought about her brother, knox prescott. Wondered what his conditions to thrive were.

"I'm going further in. Care to join?" she suggested after a pause, looking back at Casey.

The sweltering heat managed to even seep out of the mouth of Fiery Pass. She beckoned him further into the cave. He stowed away his container of berries, and stood up. Casey tugged at the collar of his tracksuit and smiled. He was like this with pretty much everyone, yes.

He grew lightheaded in the heat. The entire length of Fiery Pass seemed to slow-cook all but the most fiery things. Occasionally, cracks between rocks and little spouts vented steam. "Sweat...? Yeah, it looks like you're burning up right now." Did she always turn red in the face like this? He pretended not to notice, but couldn't help a grin starting at the corner of his mouth.

The group was flanked by what looked to be a snake. Getting the speed advantage right away, it moved to Coil on Krokorok. An attempt to stun and disable it backfired, as Ekans seemingly walked right into a pair of snapping jaws. Krokorok used Crunch. With the snake worn down, Casey threw a ball at it. This still didn't meet their standards. The two hadn't met their match, unlike the Magmortar that seemed as though it could use more convincing.

He then turned his attention to Summer again. "...You seem to have an appreciation for nature. Where did that start?"

A pokeball wasted. How disappointing. However, Summer did want this Magmortar to join her team, so she was determined to give it another go. The Magmortar used LEER on her Emboar. He took the hit, but he retaliated with FLAMETHROWER to decrease his health a bit.

Maybe some hitting back would give it enough convincing to get in the ball this time.

She glanced at Casey. "Yeah... it's pretty hot," she said, grabbing her shirt to try to cool herself off and maybe get rid of the redness of her face. Not that it helped much.

She used another ball, hoping this time, the Magmortar would cooperate with her.

"I guess so..." Summer wasn't sure if she had an affinity for nature or not. "I'm typically stuck in meetings or business deals all day. So going outside is refreshing for a change, compared to being stuck in an office." Not sterile, not quiet. Definitely more lively.

"It's not dead like it feels inside."

The heat seemed to slow-cook him. Casting off his track-jacket and tying it around his waist didn't change much, save for revealing a tank-top that hugged his shoulders like a pair of overalls. Casey plunged a hand into his backpack, producing a can of sparkling water for each of them. "...Hey. That one looks like your friend over there." He then pointed at the Pignite up ahead.

While he was charmed by the appearance of Venipede, he had to pass. Its comically large eyes and small limbs reminded him of a dog that couldn't survive in the wild. Riled up from previous encounters, Krokorok and it took turns digging in their heels. One using Defense Curl, and the other trying to Foul Play around it. Eventually, Venipede fainted, though it dragged on for a while.

He wouldn't spare a ball for this thing, opting instead to save them for sating his newfound obsession with lizards and rodents.

He then turned his attention to Summer again. "I get the feeling that this'd be easier if I just set berries out as bait, and we waited outside."

Summer couldn't help but stare at him for a moment, because he was just... a nice person to look at. She glanced back at the path ahead, hearing her Emboar make noises at her as though he was making fun of her.

"Shut up, Surtur, you moron!" she hissed through her teeth, pointing her finger accusingly at him. Surtur made a snorting noise in response before taking off after the Pignite.

She sighed, gladly accepting the water from Casey. "He looked like that, once upon a time. Sometimes I wish he would be small like that again. I feel like he's gotten sassier with size."

Nonetheless, Summer would attempt to catch the Pignite, hoping she'd find a Tepig as well. "He was absolutely precious when he was a Tepig. Now he's a big bully!" She called out and emphasized the word to rile Surtur up. Which worked, as he used TAKE DOWN on the Pignite.

That's when she threw a ball.

Looking back at him, Summer raised her brows. "That's not a bad idea," she said. "Are you a berry hoarder or something?" she teased, laughing.

Tongue sticking to the roof of his mouth. His eyes were irritated, too. Sweat falling off his face and arms, as he turned towards the mouth of the cave again. "...Yeah. This was kind of a bad idea, in retrospect." He hadn't a clue that the two of them were more or less followed out by two wild pokemon. Two animals who caught the scent of fresh fruit, carried by the heat increasing the spread of air particles.

Even more stunning, the Zubat seemed to lunge for him, screeching at the last second and stunning him with Astonish. By the hem of his tanktop, he was caught by his Krookodile rushing outside, pulling up with its jaws.

Krookodile sprung into action, trying to Swagger around and provoke an attack. Undeterred, Zubat tried to strike with Air Slash, and managed to make a current that flung its body at the ground. Krookodile responded by using Foul Play, taking advantage of its predicament and swiping at it.

He decided to just let the two fight it out, not sparing a ball for that Zubat. His near-fall left his eyes wide open, and he took sharp, shallow breaths in an attempt to regain his composure. "...I'm good. I just need a minute."

Summer seemed a little bit more equipped to the fiery path, since she frequented here a few times. Not to mention she had an Emboar and other fire types. Poor Casey looked like he was about to drop.

"Here, drink some of your water. Let's move back to the entrance," she said, putting her hand against his back to lead him there.

The Carkol popped up, and Surtur used a TAKE DOWN before she tossed a ball to catch it.

"Do you feel like you're going to pass out?" she asked, leaning over to peer at him through his mop of hair. "Breathe through your nose and out your mouth, slower. It'll help."
