Bare feet pad against the stone floor of the cave, the woman's heels are in her hand.

It has been a long time since she has felt this, her bare skin to the earth. The movements of her feet are particular, deliberate and delicate, soaking in the stone beneath her. Each step is articulated more than it needs to be because she is maneuvering the terrain with a deftness most would not expect.

She is at home in a place she has never been.

Her free hand has been running along the stone walls with little worry, the dragon scurrying behind her is more than enough to keep her safe from the variety of pokemon found in the caves. She sings even, an old lullaby from the old days of Kalos, a song once song to her by a mother. The grin on her face paints her as a child enjoying an adventure she should be far too old to be enjoying like this. She thinks herself alone in this part of the cave however and that is enough to allow her to offer herself this small freedom. This small wonder in a world that is gigantic and caving in slowly but surely around them.

The dragon growls and she is disenchanted, he has found a spy amongst the rocks, surely sent to tell the world about the silliness of his tamer. Her brows furrows with a playful fit of anger as she turns on the ball of her foot and steps to his side, hands on her hips and eyes stern.

"Who's there?"

Stormy's purpose for being here isn't to spy on Isra Nightingale.[break][break]

In fact, up until the moment the woman's Zweilous growls at her, Stormy is transfixed on the beauty of the cave and being equally as silly and aloof as the green-haired woman.[break][break]

She had been marking places on a tourist map that she wished to visit. It seemed mundane and perhaps childish as if she were truly a visitor to the region and not a permanent resident. However, truth be told, she still felt like a visitor.[break][break]

The young ranger had already explored Rusturf tunnel and Shoal cave in her travels. Both had been remarkable and heavy with secrets and mystery.. but she hadn't yet made her way to Granite cave.[break][break]

Hoenn was a mystery to her, mostly because of her original fascination with Kanto's wide open fields. The woman was not typically the adventuring type, at least not in an area so unfamiliar and dangerous to her. [break][break]

But, Stormy Silph was fearless. She had tied up her hiking boots and wrapped up her hair and set the course for adventure.[break][break]

In tow, Charmeleon matched pace. The young fire lizard was equally excited to be out exploring. Her naivety knew no bounds in her youth, and she was over the moon to be spending time with her new trainer.[break][break]

Unfortunately, Stormy's own enjoyment of the cave would be cut short by a menacing growl coming from the entrance of the cave. The Charmeleon would immediately put on the defense, stepping in front of Stormy where once she may have hidden behind the woman's legs.[break][break]

An unfamiliar voice breaks the ice, causing Stormy to relax a little bit despite the foreboding growl.[break][break]

"I take it I'm not the only one trying to have a relaxing hiking trip? I come in peace, I promise."[break][break]

She comes out of her 'hiding spot' behind a couple of rocks, hands up in mock surrender. Charmeleon takes a few deep steps to try and prove how tough she is, narrowing her eyes as she locks onto the bigger dragon.[break][break]

Then she immediately shrinks in size, spooked by how much bigger and tougher the Zweilous looks.[break][break]

Isra raises a brow as someone emerges, hands up as if to surrender. Isra grins deviously at the sight, especially once their would be defender shrank back at the sight of her Zweilous who was puffing up his chest and getting ready to take them on should they dare attack his mistress.

"Oh really? Why should I trust you?" She turns her head to the side so she can side eye the woman as if she were suspicious of her. The gesture is over the top just enough to hint at the idea she may be playing, nothing serious. At least for now. She's vaguely aware of a familiarity in the woman's face but she can't name the place yet.

Her dragon growls again and she places a hand on his head to calm him. He huffs and stamps his feet, grounding himself in his place as they wait for an answer. He wasn't convinced. "Well?" her eyes are back up at the woman, not taking her hand off her Zweilous. Her face had already softened.

When Stormy drops her hands, she finally gets a good look at the woman she's addressing. For a moment, albeit a brief one, she mistakes her for Cait. The misunderstanding is brief, however, given how pale Isra is in comparison to her friend. Not only that, but this stranger's voice is more biting, less friendly.[break][break]

Her gaze slides down as she sees the shoes the woman is holding in her off hand. Her response is funny to Stormy, and she then looks down at herself in amusement.[break][break]

"Do I look like I could be at all threatening wearing this? That's funny. You, on the other hand... you could definitely kill a man with one of those heels."[break][break]

Stormy points to the 'weapons' she mentioned, a small smirk on her face. Of course, Stormy isn't at all defenseless. Charmeleon could be a force to be reconned with, and she definitely has an arsenal of Pokemon at arm's length she could easily defend herself with.[break][break]

Alas, the image she gives off isn't threatening. She's positively glowing with exertion from whatever length of the hike she's already traveled, but she is otherwise indifferent and.. sort of charming.[break][break]

"Stormy, by the way, this is my Charmeleon."[break][break]

Her eyes grow soft as she glances down at her meek companion. However, now that Stormy isn't at all threatened by the situation, the little lizard regains her own confidence. She trots up to the Zweilous now, curiosity glowing in her eyes. [break][break]

"Don't mind her, she's friendly."[break][break]

"I have actually." the comment is made matter of factly, as if she might very well have but may also be playing along with things still. It's not likely to be beloved either way though and Isra is well aware. All she has menacing going for her is her height, a whopping 5 feet and 11 inches makes her tall for a woman. Beyond that though she herself isn't all that menacing or intimidating in appearance, especially now. Heels off and in Capri pants, the nice kind and a simple blouse. Things she could get away with inside the cave. The rest of the world didn't need to know about the hidden bag towards the entrance that had the rest of her clothes, should she need them when she departed.

She nodded at the introduction. "Isra, if you would." her smile was kinder now as she was in far too good a mood to be anything else. Not to mention it was not often she found someone willing to play along with her silliness as this one had. She was in the woman's good graces already.

Her zweilous shares her temperament as the conversation ensues, used to such noises and the tones in Isra's voice meaning that any potential threat is long gone. His head split, leaning in opposite directions as the charmeleon approaches him. The low rumble in his throat now one of content rather than agitation. "So long as no one snaps there won't be any trouble." the comment is more to her own pokemon than the other. He's a biter after all.

Charmeleon is surprised to see that her new acquaintance's head can split into two separate beings. She takes a step back, unsure how to react to such a creature.[break][break]

Stormy, meanwhile, is surprised by Isra's reaction. There's something about the woman that suggests she really may be telling the truth. Her voice is flat, spoken in a matter-of-fact tone. There's a moment of hesitation from Stormy, and she makes a sort of noise in mild surprise and amusement.[break][break]

"Well, alright then. Hope I'm not your next target, and I've caught you in a good mood."[break][break]

She laughs a little bit, trying to keep the conversation light. Charmeleon glances from the Zweilous to her trainer, although Stormy doesn't notice.[break][break]

Stormy herself is dressed in equally light, freeing clothes. She's dressed in track pants to prevent her from getting cuts and scrapes, and to keep away bugs. Her shirt is dirty and sweaty but is quite a pretty shade of yellow. [break][break]

"Nice to make your aquaintence, Isra."[break][break]

Her attention sways then to the Zweilous as the woman ensures that no trouble would come so long as no one snaps. Charmeleon seems a little shocked by this, given how polite she is. The little lizard would never dream of snapping at anyone without reason.[break][break]

"Well, you won't have to worry about her snapping. She's honestly the calmest Charmeleon I've ever seen. Most of them are quite hot-headed and ready to pick a fight."[break][break]

It's then that she sighs, leaning backward as she stares up at the ceiling of the cave. It's a pretty basic, dull-looking cave if she's being honest. Not much to see if you didn't know what you were looking for.[break][break]

"Find anything interesting out here in the boonies? I'm just exploring, taking pictures, making memories. All we've really seen though is the same coloured rock for about half an hour."[break][break]

Her response makes Isra smile, pleased by how well she is playing along, much better than some others she has had the misfortune of speaking with recently. "Likewise, Miss Stormy." the name seems a bit odd to her but she lets it pass.

A soft whistle causes her Zweilous' heads to snap back together, just fast enough to bump into each other and it grumbles at itself over it. "The comment was more about mine than yours, he's a bit of a trouble maker most days." though lately she has found him calming down more and more as time passes. Even now he would normally be tantruming to go home by now and yet, he's quiet. one head drifts to her leg and she pets it, giving it comfort at the presence of this newcomer that he must now accept is not food.

"No, but I haven't been looking for anything shiny to be honest." she's been enjoying the feeling of the stone beneath her feet, though she doesn't say it out loud as she doubts the other person will really understand. It is something she is being faced with more and more as time goes by.

"I imagine one must go further in to find anything really of note." actually she's certain of it, what she read of the cave prior to coming here said as such, at least in the records she had refereed to. "Are you looking for something in particular?"

Her eyes are inquisitive and her tone holds the elegance of a well practiced lady. for now.

At the mention of the Zweilous being snappy, Charmeleon seems to hop away. The little creature returns to Stormy's side, hovering by the woman's ankles. She gives her friend a brief pat before returning her attention to Isra.[break][break]

By now, however, Charmeleon's attention has already been captured by a short breeze sweeping through the tunnel. The brief cold gives Stormy goosebumps, but it sends gravel and sand skittering across the ground. Charmeleon gives chase for a moment, scratching at the ground with her claws.[break][break]

"Farther in is where I'm headed then."[break][break]

She goes to take a step forward and move past Isra, then hesitates. [break][break]

"Looking for something? Nah, not really. Just here for a good time, that's all. I've never been to Hoenn before, so I'd like to see what all the fuss is about, I've heard this region is quite beautiful."[break][break]

Stormy smiles. She isn't lying, despite how potentially suspicious her interests might appear. Charmeleon lifts her head as Stormy makes her move to continue on. [break][break]

"You're welcome to come with me if you'd like. Company is always appreciated."[break][break]

Surprisingly, the woman can admire the girl's interests if for no other reason than it mirroring her own. "If you'll have me, I might as well. We were headed that way ourselves."

As she speaks her Zweilous picks up on the movement of the other pokemon, heads turning in her direction to follow her, taking turns snapping at her tail though neither reach far enough to actually touch. Just enough to look like they will. The whistle that follows is sharp and he retracts his head back to himself. Isra has already turned back to the one she was talking to. Though disobedient by habit the dragon will listen for awhile more.

"Hoenn holds just as many wonders as anywhere else might you could say, it has its own charm though if you know where to look. Isra had seen maps and depictions of most everywhere in the region, she had even seen some of the rarer maps to be made- a perk of her upbringing and the studious nature of it. It wasn't the same however, knowing that things existed and feeling them exist made them real in a way she couldn't describe properly, arguably it was something she longed for even when the world seemed to be crumbling around them.

"Odd time for site seeing though." she mused. She meant it in many ways, the time of the day, the time of the year even, the goings on in the rest of the world made it seem like an odd time to want to see things for the sake of seeing things. To eveyone but her. Isra was aware she did not follow the grain though, and to find another who didn't either would be interesting indeed.

Charmeleon snatches up her tail as the Zweilous attempts to devour it. Although the two-headed dragon may have been playing, the little fire-type can't take her chances. She continues to hold her tail close to her body even as Stormy continues to speak with Isra.[break][break]

Stormy is almost entranced by the way Isra speaks. The two are very different individuals but appear to hold similar interests and ideals.[break][break]

"I've only recently come to Hoenn, but I agree. It's much easier for me to learn if I'm seeing things in person. I've never been a studious person, I prefer to get my hands dirty."[break][break]

Back in Kanto, she had struggled to learn via pen and paper the history of the region and the magic. It's why she had so thoroughly enjoyed branching out of her comfort zone and exploring the world and its physical presence. [break][break]

Just thinking of her home made her heart squeeze with loneliness.[break][break]

Stormy blushed a little bit as Isra addressed how odd it was for her to be exploring at a time like this.[break][break]

"I could say the same to you, I suppose. I don't think there's ever a bad time to be sight seeing, is there?"[break][break]

"I hope Hoenn is treating you well then, especially in person." the grin is almost mischievous, almost as if Isra might know a secret about that that no one else does. In some ways it is true, in others not so much. Like so much about her it could go in too many ways to be certain. "I find no matter how studious a person is it doesn't mean much if they can't apply what they learn anyway. It's good to get your hands dirty once in awhile."

Isra pats the head of her dragon as he huffs, apparently displeased that the charmeleon has had a fitting response to his harassment. He whines even when he feels her hand on his head as if she can somehow make the other one play with him. She normally can, normally everyone will play if Isra says to but that is not the case with this one.

She has to pick her words about the last comment however. "I'm a special circumstance." it's putting it lightly but that's the best way to go about it with people she had not yet determined are alright to say the real reason to. "The night usually treats me better than the day anyway." the comment is more playful than the last.

The woman stretches as they walk, arms reaching over her head. She's surprisingly relaxed however, nothing about her is tense at the idea of going deeper in as night rolls in. She relishes it.

If Isra is alluding to some dark secret, Stormy is oblivious. Her one-track mind is engaged in the exploration of Granite cave, not in mind-bending secrets out of her new acquaintance. [break][break]

"Getting my hands dirty is the only thing I'm good at. But that's fine, I'm more than happy to let someone else do the in depth books and technological research. I'll do the heavy lifting."[break][break]

Perhaps what she says is a little blunt or uneducated. She means no harm by it, and likely doesn't consider books and reading to be on the same level of intensity and necessity in terms of 'hard work' as manual labour and actually exploring.[break][break]

Charmeleon keeps a close eye on the Zweilous as Stormy continues to make her way deeper into the cave. At all times, the little lizard stays to the opposite side of Isra's Pokemon, keeping close to Stormy's leg.[break][break]

"I much prefer the light of day, to be honest. I'd much rather be able to see where I'm going and feel the sun on my back. It gets cold at night, and I really don't enjoy that."[break][break]

The pair continue to walk side by side, Isra seemingly relaxed with her arms stretched over her head. [break][break]

Perhaps what Stormy has just said about the sun being her friend and the darkness her enemy ironic, as the further they dive into the depths of the cave, the colder, damper, and darker it all becomes. The light on Charmeleon's tail is the only thing really illuminating some of the darkest parts of the cave.[break][break]

Isra seems unbothered by the darkness as they go deeper, if anything she is more comfortable here. There is a familiarity to it and the feel of it makes her feel at home in the cavern.

"I see merit in the tactic, I have employed it more than once myself." and it was true, Isra saw the idea of expecting what someone was not capable of out of them a waste of time. It caused resistance, tension, drew out things that could be done in moments if a person's skills where used better. She would never be against a person wanting to learn outside of their bubble but she wasn't going to force them into things that were not in them to begin with.

Everything and everyone was useful, if you simply learned how to make use of it. The idea had carried her well into her present day.

"Divvy the work, take the weight of things you're not good at off each others back and the whole machine runs much more smoothly." she mused, letting the woman lead her deeper in. Isra was in no hurry to go anywhere in particular, though she found herself wishing she had a reliable fire type somewhere in her team for moments like this. Her typhlosion wouldn't make a good addition here.

"You can still see where you're going in the dark, it takes time to get used to it." Isra knew it true but even she knew better than to think she didn't have an unusual advantage in this over others. Her eyes had long since adjusted to the lack of sunlight to guide her. hey had to. "I suppose where opposites in that however, I find the cold invigorating and the heat draining and it makes me lethargic by comparison. I can handle heat if I have to but if given the choice I would always choose cold."

Even now her feet were getting cold as they walked further in, the chill of the sun deprived stone reaching for her skin and sinking in to it. She thrived on it, it woke her up more than coffee ever could.

Stormy's breath at this point has become short, timid ones. She's no longer the same, headstrong, cocky girl she was at the mouth of the entrance. She doesn't do closed spaces. However, her own stubbornness is what fuels her. Her drive, her passion to prove herself and push herself to the limit is what has always kept her from giving up.[break][break]

"Exactly. You've got a good head on your shoulders, Isra. I like that about you."[break][break]

Despite the pace at which Stormy was moving, she didn't really intend to speed run the cave. Her fingers traced the nooks and crannies of stone, her eyes traveled up and down to the ceiling and floor. At some point, Charmeleon let her tail go and allowed its flame to illuminate the cavern tunnels more effectively. [break][break]

Stormy gasps in wonder at the shadows that line the walls. Their figures are so tall, so brazen against the sheer emptiness of the cave.[break][break]

"It's beautiful.."[break][break]

The woman turns back just as Isra explains how they are, in some ways, opposites. Stormy's thoughts flash to the icy cold eyes of Fernando, and her intake of breath is enough to suggest that her mind has gone elsewhere, somewhere she felt fear.[break][break]

"The cold slows me down, it turns my blood to ice. I can't move as deftly as I can when my blood is running hot."[break][break]

Whatever malevolent thoughts crossed her mind disappeared, and she pauses to smile at Isra. Where she is wearing no shoes to better benefit from the cold, Stormy is still in her hiking boots, grateful that she isn't feeling the chill.[break][break]

"So.. if you don't mind my asking.. are you from Hoenn?"[break][break]

The intention of this question was to press into the issues the League was facing, Stormy's own volatile curiosity getting the better of her. Perhaps if Fernando wouldn't tell her what was going on, a stranger would. They had nothing to hide, right?[break][break]
