Hideo slumped in his seat, the pace he ate at slowing down. It was frustrating hearing neither boy budge in their anger, with Andy still digging at Aaron, who’d already left. Hideo could see the hypocrisy there, but didn’t comment on it; Andy was already in a bad enough mood as was. He didn’t want to risk making it worse.

At the very least, Hideo could get some comfort out of petting the Banette.

As for the poisoning part, Hideo opened his mouth as if to protest - but he realized Andy did have a bit of a point. It took him a moment to actually come up with a response. “Well, it’s not like it’s the first time we met Aaron,” he said, “And he fed his own Pokemon first. Pretty sure yours would’ve noticed if he did something funny to the food afterwards.”

Hideo could understand a healthy amount of caution, but how much until it became paranoia?

He sighed, his appetite thoroughly defeated from frustration. “I’m gonna see if Vines wants to finish this off,” he said, grabbing his bowl and standing up from his seat. He didn’t have to move far, though: his Zarude heard that through the window, and made its way to the door into the cabin. Hideo felt the bowl get snatched out of his hands, and he heard his Zarude dump the remaining food into its mouth and swallow it. “Guess Vines did,” he sighed.

"Yeah, yeah." Nothing about Aaron had really struck Hideo as suspicious. A little odd, maybe, but not malicious. And his meal, simple as it was, tasted pretty good. "My appetite'll be fine. I got enough in me, and I got plenty back at my camp when it comes back."

Though Hideo did notice the irony in Andy wanting peace out here; the first time Andy brought him here also included Andy's long-lost mother. A whole drama bomb of its own, and as tempting as it was to mention it, now was the time for de-escalation.

"Well, it's the least we could do," Hideo said, going with something that wouldn't antagonize Andy further. "You're sharing your soil with us, so it wouldn't hurt to help your stuff grow too. Plus we did come out of nowhere, so we might as well help."

Hideo felt a bowl get pushed into his free hand - his Zarude having completely cleaned it out. Hideo neatly placed it in the sink.

"Yeah, I guess it is getting late," Hideo mused. "I was thinking about heading back before I got here. My Pokemon are probably getting antsy waiting for me to get back."

He began to exit the little cabin, giving the Banette one more affectionate head-rub. "I'll try and stop by again soon to see how the seeds are doing. Or you could give me a call if they bloom outta nowhere; I dunno how strong Vines's stuff is." Instantaneous growth wasn't out of the realm of possibilities for a legendary.

And with that, he was off; he let out his Gallade, and in short order, Hideo and his Pokemon were teleported out, back to a camp of restless and hungry Pokemon.

YOUR HARVEST COMES EARLY. returning to this mountainscape cold cave gifts you with more than just goosebumps. where the seeds were planted are shaderoot carrots: a long twisted vegetables black with gloom.

it comes as a surprise that these seeds have actually grown into something. despite their hardy nature, is such a place like this appropriate for the growing of produce? nevertheless, hoenn's land is fertile. perhaps, it is due to the tapu bulu's reawakening— or something else, like an aged bioenergy attempting to course through once dormant veins.
