It’s always strange how such a simple word can mean so many different things in his life. How it can be so important. How it can ring louder than any other and make its presence known and noticed above all else.

The change in Cian’s expression the moment he realizes is expected, but it doesn’t make any of this any less difficult. How many times have they spoken of the wonderful life they would have together away from Rocket and away from Hoenn? Away from Mars’ own family? Away from all their problems?

This, while a good thing in many ways, also makes that reality they often try to ignore be all too clear and undeniable: Mars can’t leave Rocket, at least not anytime soon.
