At last—well, partially, the winds started to change when the fishing line started to twitch.

Seeing the line bend, Lars then grabbed it and attempted to reel in whatever Pokémon was on the other side of it and almost let out an excited noise as a Chinchou surfaced from the water and began to cause a racket by screeching in a Supersonic manner.

“Oy, quiet down!” he warned, trying to shush the dual-type when a smaller-sized Aura Sphere came from somewhere behind him, very nearly knocking the Chinchou back into the water—

“Alph!” he hissed, plucking another empty Pokéball and throwing it at the dual-type before it snapped and fell off the line.

At least the loud, horrible noise had been quelled—for the moment.

cloyster (f) shell armor - whirlpool, protect, iron defense, shell smash, icicle crash, razor shell

"oh, look, you caught a chinchou."

matias can't help but clap his hands because, finally, lars finds what he's looking for. just four slowpokes to go, he thinks.

it's then that matias shifts to sit by the water, dipping his legs down to enjoy the coolness of it. he sighs, peering out at the scenery around them.

"hoenn's actually quite beautiful."

in the background, ICICLE CRASHES fall upon a wild whirlipede, and a pokeball follows.

“Yeah, twenty percent of my target done,” he said with a chuckle as the Pokéball dinged and he plucked it off the line before setting it out once again.

Just as the winds had changed to his favor, another uproar from behind them didn’t even faze him—as a Scyther thought it was a good idea sneaking up on the slumbering behemoth of a Metagross.

Which was a bad idea, really.

The attempt at a Fury Cutter was rudely interrupted as the Scyther was trying to sharpen its claws, and was met with a Psychic full-on to the face.

Just how was the Metagross sleeping?! Was it even sleeping at this rate?!

The sounds of metal scraping on metal made Lars look over as the Scyther was trying to turn Ro into a sharpening stone, only to be met with a second Psychic blast of power.

Before a third chunk of rainbow energy can be lobbed at the Scyther, another Pokéball’s thrown to spare the Scyther any more suffering.

not that he particularly minds. it's a really nice day out as well.

as he sits by the pool of water, an alomomola floats up to greet him, bumping into his leg with a smile. or what he assumes to be a smile.

"oh, hello."

he reaches into his pocket for a treat, giving it to the water-type.

"there's more if you want."

but instead of a treat, this time it's a pokeball.

The fishing line wasn’t moving, again.

He wondered if the Water-types had stopped coming even though he’d already caught the Chinchou—maybe not, but who knew?

Looking out over the water, he chuckled.

“Well, if you’re looking for something I don’t mind sitting out here the whole day. I got nothing to do. It’s a day off for me, after all.”

In the background, the Lucario caught sight of a—was he really going to beat up a Wurmple?

The Wurmple crawled forward, and instead of engaging it in combat, the Lucario instead decided to pluck some Berries and feed the tiny little Bug-type. It definitely looked hungry, after all.

Lars looked around in time to see that there was a small mound of Berries being fed to the Wurmple, beign scrounged up by the Lucario—and he almost let out a chuckle.

“Oh, alright, Alph, keep the Wurmple fed,” he said with a hint of a grin on his face, rolling a Pokéball his way before the Lucario used it to catch the Wurmple unguarded while it was demolishing a particularly fat Oran berry.

that's news to matias, but he doesn't judge. he could certainly use a day off himself.

oh, look! another combee for Greyson Connors's farm. matias better be getting good money for supplying them.

"don't hurt it too much."

a single ICICLE CRASH is all it takes, really, to send the combee down and into a pokeball.

“Of course I do!” he exclaimed, giving Matias this most outrageous stare.

“You think I’m trapped behind a desk twenty-four seven, three sixty-five?” he continued before an immoderate bark of laughter escape him.

“I’m human, not a workaholic. Plus I’m my own boss, so I pick whatever two days off within a week I want,” he added with a shrug.

Not too far away, though, there was a Dustox humming nearby—before it could release a Gust of wind, a powerful blast of rainbow-colored Psuchic energy caught it in mid-air, where it let out a squeal.

“Ro, not too hard now,” he said without looking, rolling another empty Pokéball towards Alpha, where he’d brought the occupied Pokéball that now had a greedy-ass Wurmple sleeping within its confines.

“Go, get it.”

Of course the Dustox thought it was a good idea using Psybeam on the Metagross but well, another powerful Psychic blast knocked it right out, and before it hit the grass, another red beam of light tried to swallow it into its depths.

again, he gets days off, he just doesn't use them much. or ever, really. he wouldn't know what to do with all his free time.

it's important to stay occupied, like he's doing now.

"damn. dibs on the next dustox."

because he needs one for his pokedex.

for now, he settles for the sewaddle because he doesn't have that either. deviating from the usual ICICLE CRASH, his cloyster summons a WHIRLPOOL that wraps around the sewaddle, drowning it briefly before a pokeball smacks against it.

“Yikes, and I already have one of you,” he remarked as he reeled in the Water-type, before plopping it down in the bucket with the Horsea.

“Stay there, you’re going back in the water later.”

And then, the line was recast once more.

this time, when one of matias' cloysters surfaces, it carries with it a shuckle, of all things. he peers at it, chuckling as he watches the rock-type struggle to balance atop cloyster.

"hang on, bud. i got you."

he nods at his cloysters, who all send ICICLE CRASHES up at the shuckle. the impact sends shuckle towards matias, who readies a pokeball before booping it against its hard shell after.
