The Totodile looked up and out of the bucket—at least the Horsea wasn’t freaking out now that there was a companion in the bucket.

Lars happened to chance a glance over where the bucket was, and chuckled.

“Later, not now,” he said as he returned his attention to the fishing line, which wasn’t getting any bites for some time now. He knew that fishing was a test of patience, but there was also a fair bit of luck involved…

He thought he saw something biting on the line as it moved a little, but there were no disturbing ripples on the surface—at least none that he immediately noticed anyway.

cloyster (f) shell armor - whirlpool, protect, iron defense, shell smash, icicle crash, razor shell

it's another seismitoad! matias loves these things, though he has no interest in catching another just because of how much it eats. it's draining his food supply, so just imagining what one more would do is enough to dissuade him.

so, he shoos it away, not willing to share his ice cream with the water-type. instead, he shares it with his own cloysters, one of which surfaces to approach for a spoonful of vanilla ice cream.

It was like the heavens were manifesting something because—

Just as Lars was about to turn his attention back to the fishing line he’d cast out into the water, yet another Charjabug had come running! Or, well, running as best as it could anyway.

He could barely suppress the guffaw that escaped him.

“Damn, is the universe trying to tell me something about meeting with Zac Ramsay in the future?” he chuckled as this time, he shook his head as the Lucario stood up and was about to chuck another Aura Sphere at it.

“Don’t scare it away; feed it some of those Berries you’ve been eating, Alph,” he said with a smirk as the Lucario gave him this ‘what the fuck’ look before sighing and nodding.

Returning back to the line, he pulled out another pint of ice cream and held it for a few second. He was pretty sure it was melting, but with his ‘magic touch’ it wouldn’t be melting anytime soon now.

Over where the Lucario was about to pop another Berry into his mouth, he then began rolling several of the other Oran Berries in the pile towards the Charjabug. Since the first two were met with utter violence, this one would have to be persuaded differently—it was like there was an entire family of Charjabug coming out of the woodwork, so to speak.

Clearly the Charjabug was non-plussed at the behavior, but who could turn away free food—especially when it was being rolled so openly towards where they were planted. Mandibles clicking, nipping, eating at the Oran Berries that were being ‘sacrificed’ to her.

Soon enough, a Pokéball was rolled by Lars, to the Lucario, who then rolled it behind the last of the Oran Berries that he’d been feeding the Charjabug, a bid to win its favor.

And unsurprisingly, the Charjabug attempted to eat the Pokéball, but was sucked into the red beam of light instead as the mandibles clicked against the button.

must be because of their experimentation with kyle lopez's new charja-cola flavor. when is matias going to get one? virizion's hair is right there for them.

as matias eyes the approaching whirlipede, he simply shoos it away, not wanting to bother it with a battle or a capture.

As the Lucario picked up the now-occupied Pokéball, this time the bushes not too far away began to…wilt? Wilting? What the fuck?

The dual-type let out a bark of surprise; however the Metagross was on the case. Opening one red eye, the silver beast at rest then flung a blast of rainbow-colored energy; a Psychic attack right at the incoming threat.

It… was fuckin’ huge.

And certainly not part of what he was looking for!

Another Psychic blast repelled the Centiskorch away, taking the wilting greenery with it.

while lars busies himself with the fire-type, matias turns to see a piplup atop one of his cloysters. it's merely standing, minding its own business, but even as cloyster shakes left and right, it refuses to fall.

"huh."

it's not agile enough to dodge the pokeball that's flung its way, however.

The line was still, as always.

Both the Metagross and Lucario had gone back to quiet meditation, while Lars looked over at the bucket and saw that the Totodile was looking out of the bucket again, wondering at the quiet.

Lars could only chuckle and shake his head, before seeing that there was something flying out over the water’s surface—it was a Ledyba.

“Huh,” he remarked. How did that get there?

Anyway, the Ledyba continued to circle over the water, before flying off in another direction.

a ludicolo approaches them, almost ASTONISHINGLY as it starts dancing. it moves its arms left and right, swaying to an imaginary beat. though the beat could definitely have been real inside its head.

At Matias’s gesture, he couldn’t help but look over and let out a noise of mirth at the cheeky gesture.

“Did you just toss a coin to—” he trailed off before the sheer hilarity of the situation overtook everything and he couldn’t restrain his laughter.

There was movement in the water, but the loud buzzing of wings from behind him made him turn around—and just in time for the Metagross to wake up, too.

“Ro, you know what to do.”

With a backward gesture, he flings an empty Pokéball which then finds itself levitating in mid-air as the Scyther came in for a Double Hit attack. Which was kind of silly, really, considering that the Scyther probably didn’t know basic Pokémon match-up theory or what.

Because either way this was going to end badly for the Scyther, but them’s the breaks, really—as the Metagross threw a rainbow-colored orb of energy at the other dual-type.

He thought he saw a Piplup peeking from out of the water, but the flash of blue had disappeared so fast he wasn’t sure if it was the Pokémon he was thinking of.

The sounds of battle echoed behind him, and eventually one final burst of Psychic brought the Scyther down—and into the beam of red light.

so why not give the ludicolo a tip?

the appearance of a wailmer has him thinking of skyler dross. not because she looks like one or anything, but because she's yet to return him his. what's happened to blubber? is he doing okay?

these are the thoughts that fill his mind as he watches the wild wailmer fall to an ICICLE CRASH. he throws a pokeball at it.
