Meanwhile, the Metagross was already on the case, sending a potent burst of rainbow-colored Psychic energy at the Yanma, who was caught by surprise and lashed out with a last-minute Detect, careening out of the way.

A grating noise came from the silver beast, who then took aim and held the little critter in place with a burst of Telekinetic energy—and while it was stuck there, the Yanma could only shriek and fight back with Air Slash after Air Slash.

Another burst of Psychic energy came crashing towards it, and another—before the fifth burst of Psychic could be launched, the Lucario took aim and threw the empty Pokéball at it.

really, it's more likely that it's just something lars needs, much like how matias is capturing all these different species for no apparent reason.

like the golisopod that shows, for example. he already has one or two, so he doesn't even bother with it. he simply shoos it away.

“Need it for something,” was his reply as the fishing pole near him remained quiet, silent.

The next thing that came crashing in was almost invisible, it took the combined efforts of both the Metagross and Lucario to spot the minuscule ‘intruder’. It was, in fact, a tiny little Cutiefly that looked absolutely exhausted!

Without words, the Lucario then went off to look for Berries that they could spare. The Metagross, on the other hand, kept one of its red eyes on the tiny little presence, and soon enough the Lucario returned with a handful of Berries, fresh from a new forage spot nearby.

The fishing line remained quiet, but the two Pokémon were busy, feeding the Cutiefly tiny little bites of the Berries until the Lucario finally approached Lars, with the teeny little Cutiefly sleeping in one of his paws.

“What?” he asked Alpha, before seeing what the Lucario was holding.

“Oh. Aw,” he added a few moments later, poking the Cutiefly gently with one of his fingers and quietly slipping a small, empty Pokéball over the sleeping little form.

matias adjusts the fishing rod in front of him, watching as something catches at the end of the line. he grabs it, reels it in, and sees a kingler in front of him.

"oh. don't need you."

so he tosses it back into the water. or lets it go, really, because kingler are quite big.

This time the line started to twitch—violently.

“Whoa,” he blurted out, quickly grabbing the pole and attempting to reel in the sucker that was on the other end, still in the water.

“I swear if this is a Wailmer I’ll scream,” he said with a chuckle as he began to yank at the line, before the blur shot out of the water and revealed—

A Krabby.

Well, it wasn’t a Wailmer, but still.

“In you go,” he continued as he dropped the Krabby into the bucket—only for whatever else Water-types were in the bucket to be released later in the day.
