“It may not sound bad on paper, but it does put quite a hamper on my preferred challenge style in the Gym,” he remarked with the tiniest of sighs.

Before long, the Lotad’s gone, sucked into a red beam of light that’s not his.

This time, a cute little bouncing troublemaker appeared.

“You mind?” he gestured as he took out another few pieces of Pokéfood and held it out for the Bounsweet to take.

Unlike the Dwebble from earlier, this one was a little more eager to approach humans—he wondered why that was the case.

Either way, the Grass-type was now munching on the snack in his outstretched hand, making all sorts of happy noises. He thought he heard the swooping of feathers and looked up; but the Salamence and the Braviary were still there, most likely talking to each other about something he wouldn’t understand.

Several more pieces of Pokéfood later, the Bounsweet let out the most undignified burping noise—which made him cackle.

“Well, someone was hungry!” he chuckled as the Grass-type then bounced from his hand towards—

“No. You’re getting more later. Just not these ones,” he remarked as he quickly closed the paper bag.

venusaur (f) overgrow - sleep powder, vine whip, worry seed, seed bomb, solar beam, take down

having no real need for an anorith, matias almost skips it but realizes there might be some perks of having one around. an addition to his fossil collection, perhaps.

"try something new."

no SLEEP POWDER comes from the venusaurs this time. instead, three VINE WHIPS wrap around the anorith, and though it BUG BITES one VINE WHIP away, it soon falls to the ground and into a pokeball.

"have you thought about installing a jetpack onto the wheelchair?"

At the mention of a jet pack, he let out an ugly-sounding bark of laughter—truth be told, it wasn’t the first time that thought crossed his mind.

“Actually, if I told you what my answer to that question is, I’d have to sic my birds on you,” was his answer.

Because that meant that yes, he’d seriously debated that option.

Before he could continue further, the sight of a Masquerain came buzzing along—attempting to dive-bomb the Bounsweet that had claimed one part of his lap for its own territory.

In retaliation, the Bounsweet smacked herself into the Masquerain with a Flailing gesture as the Masquerain threw a bunch of Bubbles at the Grass-type.

“Oh, come on, don’t fight here,” he said with a sigh before the Masquerain attempted to throw a Gust of wind at the Bounsweet—that retaliated with a Rapid Spinning motion.

Before the fight could escalate even further, he chucked a Pokéball at the Masquerain.

"don't think i'm quite ready to die yet, so it's okay, don't tell me."

he had already died once, and if there was such a thing as a MULTIVERSE, then he was likely dead in a few of them. perhaps in one of them, he never even made it out of kanto alive.

it's not a great thought to have.

so, he focuses on the little combee that floats on over instead. it reminds him of young Greyson Connors, and knowing the officer would appreciate the pokemon, matias decides to offer it a berry to befriend it instead.

The ugly bark of laughter continued for a few more moments before the Bounsweet began chirping, catching his attention (mostly).

The next thing that he spotted was a Shelmet—a nostalgic sight from home!

Before he could even open the paper bag to hand out another piece of Pokéfood to the Shelmet when a loud, shrieking noise ripped through the silence and a burst of Flamethrower from the skies caught the other Pokémon off-guard.

“Hey, Gabe! Warn us at least before you come sweeping down!” he said as he saw the Salamence coming down for another attack; as the Shelmet tried to drain vitality from the draconid via Giga Drain, but another blast of flames catch it mid-attack.

Once the controlled blast of flames had petered out, he chucks another Pokéball at the toasted Shelmet.

apparently, there's an unspoken understanding between creatures of the forest. the sawsbuck that appears regards the venusaurs with curiosity before dipping its head in a greeting.

the venusars return the same, and the shiny one extends one of her vines out towards sawsbuck. she boops his nose, groaning/chuckling after.

such a peaceful encounter.

no fighting.

just love.

"cute."

offering the sawsbuck a berry, it decides to join them.

Now that the matter of the Shelmet had been settled, another Bug-type came wandering out and this time—

Well, he already had the bigger version of this one at least.

Now that the Salamence had disappeared back to aerial recon position above where the two were, he opened the bag ever so slightly—and was not surprised to see the Bounsweet trying to get her face into said paper bag.

“What did I tell you? Not now! I can get you more later!” he exclaimed as he pulled out another piece and eventually lowered his arm as far as it would go, letting the Pokétreat roll off it.

“Nah, I already have that one, I’m just feeding them for now,” he said as the Skorupi approached, poked at the piece of Pokéfood, before snatching it away in its miniature pincers.

and into a pokeball the sawsbuck goes only to be replaced by a tropius, whose appearance summons with it a strong GUST that ripples past them.

matias stands his ground, watching as the SLEEP POWDERS get dispersed with the wind. but the GUST can't last forever. when it eventually dies down, the tropius succumbs to the many SLEEP POWDERS, and that's what sets up its capture.

"there sure are a lot of wild pokemon here."

some would even say an unlimited amount.

The next thing that caught his attention was a—aww, he already had this one!

In final form version, too.

“Aww, I already have a Leavanny, but here, have some food,” he gestured, making sure to open the paper bag while the Bounsweet was distracted, chittering over in the direction of where she’d spotted a Taillow not too far away from where the Swadloon was heading.

Picking out a suitable-sized piece, he then held it down, letting it slide from his fingers before the Swadloon tentatively sniffed at it, before absconding with the piece.

"i don't have one yet," he comments as he peers up at the approaching taillow. even from that high up, he knows it has GUTS, and it's for that reason that he decides to capture it.

the SLEEP POWDERS are repelled by taillow's QUICK GUARD. but the shield dissipates eventually, and the SLEEP POWDERS continue.

taillow falls right into matias' arms, snoring like a baby boo.
