At least the Taillow wouldn’t know what had hit it until it woke up inside the confines of a Pokéball—

Only this time, the loud buzzing noise of something zipping by caught his attention—while he hoped it was one of the few Pokémon he didn’t actively had yet, alas it was a Scyther—he already had both evolutions and had even given them the shittiest names (like, for real).

Just as the Scyther was about ready to swing its arm blades down in a Double Hit attack, a sudden rain of flames from up above caught it by surprise.

Alexei could only chuckle.

“Fast, but not fast enough,” he smirked as the Salamence’s Flamethrower caught it unaware as it tried to chain into a Vacuum Wave attack, to no avail.

Another burst of aerial flames bathed it, and before a third attempt would come down, the red beam of a Pokéball saved it from being toasted pretty much alive.

venusaur (f) overgrow - sleep powder, vine whip, worry seed, seed bomb, solar beam, take down

a small budew hops out of the bushes, approaching with innocent curiosity. matias holds up a hand in response, stopping his venusaurs from attacking it.

"it's fine. she's just curious."

he can tell by how the budew isn't throwing anything at them. not her MEGA DRAIN, not her STUN SPORE, and certainly not her WORRY SEED.

budew hops up onto one of the venusaurs only to sneak under its large petals, finding comfort in the shade it provides.

"guess she's coming with us."

“Aww, that’s cute,” he said with a grin as the Budew literally made a beeline for one of the Venusaur following the other, and decided to claim a nice, cozy little spot for its own.

More excited chirping from the Bounsweet that was hanging onto the railing of the wheelchair—this time, it was another familiar sight from home!

“Here, give your Venusaurs some of these,” he said as he handed the other an unopened paper bag, containing the same treats that he’d been handing out like candy. “I have way too many. Shame to let it all go to waste.”

Hilariously, the chirping noises from the Grass-type drew the attention of the Pidove that was flying by, the dual-type landing pretty close to where the Grass-type was hanging onto like a mad…man? Mad…lady?

Either way, another piece of the Pokéfood from his open paper bag found its way into his hand—and while the Bounsweet eyed it greedily, he hissed a few moments as he saw her beady eyes staring at the morsel.

“Leave it, it’s for our friend here,” he warned the Grass-type, watching quietly as the Pidove stared at the piece of food in his uninjured left hand, waiting for her—he could tell this Pidove was a female—to take it.

The huffy Bounsweet then moved to the other side of the wheelchair, bouncing around and watching as the Pidove eyed the piece for a few moments before tentatively hopping into his hand and pecking at it.

Slowly, but surely, the first piece disappeared. Soon, there was a second, and a third piece in his left hand; which the avian devoured in short order.

After the fourth piece was half-eaten, the Pidove let out a sleepy little chirp before passing out—landing right on his lap.

“Really?” he said with a chuckle.

matias accepts the paper bag, peering in to find treats!

"cool! thanks."

he takes one out, throwing one to the first venusaur in line. when it gobbles it up like candy, he tosses another, then two more down the line before approaching with the final one to personally give the budew.

there might be a scent on these treats as a wild lombre shows up as well, hands stretched out as if asking for one.

"fine."

he places one in its hands, then one on its RAIN DISH.

Thankfully the Pidove didn’t take any issue (it was passed out cold in his lap after all) when the Bounsweet’s chittering noises drew his attention—

And he almost let out a guffaw at the sight.

The only thing he could see was the Simisage anyway (because who in their right minds designed a Pokémon to look like a clump of weeds and be near-damned impossible to see) and so he smirked.

“Are you a fan of monkeys?” he asked Matias idly.

to prove a point, he calls out his oddly-colored zarude. no more than three seconds pass before it's sending out its POWER WHIP to wrap around the wild simisage, though, as apparently, it can be the only monkey there. it's flung away.

“That’s not what I meant!” he chuckled, as he watched unrestrained simian violence take place and the monkey was thrown off somewhere.

He didn’t want to know where.

Either way—

After tapping an empty Pokéball on the sleeping Pidove’s form so that it didn’t accidentally roll off while they continued their traverse, a round, spherical ‘object’ caught his attention.

Never mind if he had a Decidueye already, he was always down for more of their kind!

(And hopefully, whatever mess had decided to make Decidueye a part-something he was afraid of instead of flying would somehow miraculously rectify its typing. But that was just a pipe dream.)

The Rowlet, tilting its head in an almost-impossible angle, didn’t faze Alexei. Instead, he ended up handing out another few pieces of Pokéfood to the spherical Pokémon, waiting to see if it was going to take the bait or flee.

Come on… he thought, gaze steady on the Rowlet as the avian slowly approached, before snatching one piece, and another—

He knew he only put two pieces there, so it was like the Pidove all over again, this time the Rowlet climbing up his legs and literally sniffing the air, before trying to abscond with one of the brown paper bags!

“Hey! Don’t be greedy!” he said, making to snatch the paper bag back from the Rowlet and handing the greedy little shithead another couple pieces of Pokétreats, rather than watching it make off with the whole paper bag.

“This is meant to be shared!”

Looks like there was one stubborn avian, pulling at his shirt and wanting more of the treats…

“Oy.”

He then bonked the Rowlet on the head before giving it a few more pieces of Pokéfood.

matias watches in amusement at alexei's struggle with the rowlet. he sighs by the end of it, shaking his head.

"maybe that's why it's so fat."

unlike this yanma that approaches, buzzing right by his head. he even slaps it out of instinct, like one does when a fly gets too close to their ear.

“Guess I know what not to feed this one, then,” he chuckled as he tapped a Pokéball on the round, spherical object and watched it get sucked up into the red beam of light.

At least everything was peaceful on the ground.

Up in the clouds, however—

The loud sounds of battling made him look around wildly, before realizing that it was coming from way above their heads—

“Oh, come on! Kyouya!” he called to the blue-plumed avian, who was now engaged in combat with a… well, now, that was interesting!

“Careful where you drop those!” he shouted as his Braviary opened fire with a Rock Slide avalanche, whereas the normal-colored Braviary charged right up close and personal with a Superpower attack.

“Big mistake,” he continued, watching as the aerial battle went on; both avians refusing to give in as they traded blows.

Not until his own Braviary had dropped another Rock Slide did the other Braviary come plummeting to the ground—and a red beam of light, thrown from Alexei’s pocket, met the dual-type to save it from getting squashed.

surprisingly, matias doesn't have a bellsprout, only a victreebel, so the battle commences.

whatever ACID it spews out is easily avoided as zarude leaps up into the trees, disappearing behind the thickness of its leaves. branches shake, ruffle, and soon comes a powerful HAMMER ARM that squishes the bellsprout into the ground.

it almost looks comedic if not for the fact that it must've really hurt.

oh well. such is the nature of battling.

a pokeball is thrown at it after.
