Another night came, and sure enough, the horses were there, waiting for them this time. “Guess they really like us,” Hideo said, approaching the horse. He was feeling comfortable enough with them now, enough that he didn’t mind that his Lycanroc was busy relieving himself on the other side of the camp when this visit began. “So what’cha two need this-”

Next thing Hideo knew, he was on the ground. A good distance away, too, or so it felt. He was dazed for a moment, trying to regain his bearings. As hard as the hit was, there was no soreness - it didn’t even knock the wind out of him or anything.

Slowly, he stood back up - and noticed the horse right beside him. “Please don’t do that again,” he said, noticing the strange noises in the background. Weird.

As he righted himself, Hideo felt something touch his hands. Were these...reigns? “So you want us to ride you now?” he asked. He couldn’t tell if that sound the horse made was a confirmation or a rejection, but it wasn’t pulling them away from him.

He was fortunate he had some horse riding experience with his Zebstrika, so he knew how to mount it without a saddle. Though this would be the first time he rode something with reigns.

Right as he situated himself, he heard furious barking from his Lycanroc. Must’ve been concerned about him getting on top of this horse - it was Rocky’s first time seeing it. “It’s alright, Rocky! I don’t think it’s planning to-”

And like that, it was off. Hideo still wasn’t aware why his Lycanroc was making so much noise - seeing the boy’s disembodied spirit on top of a ghost while his actual body lay there. All he knew to do was hold on to the reigns as tight as possible, his Lycanroc chasing after the Spectrier as it ran around with his trainer’s soul.

A sampling of death. Oddly it wasn't nearly as peaceful as he had hoped. While obviously at the sight of his own mortal coil there was definitely some cause for concern, the visitors didn't seem keen on staying long after. But then neither would he if he had just potentially killed a trainer smack dab in the middle of their own pokemon-filled camp.

Why not? Not like we can die twice.'' Horseback riding was something he had partaken in before as a blue blood, not to mention he often rode his pokemon.

TAMING THE HORSE

AS YOU RIDE AROUND THE MOUNTAIN, you feel your spirit becoming one with the spectrier despite the discombobulation of being forced out of your physical form. the odd phantom pains—ones that are associated with novice riders—begin to fade too. there is no discomfort now. only unity.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

the spectrier finally stop. satisfied with their riders, the horses gallop back to your body. with a quiet whinny, the horses allow you to slide off their backs. as soon as your feet hit the floor, you feel yourself being pulled back to your body. one blink and you're back. before you, the spectrier remain, awaiting to be caught.

CONGRATULATIONS!

YOU TAMED THE HORSE!

THE SPECTRIER is now able to be caught with one of your pokeballs. you may decide their moveset like a gachapon pokemon (e.g. 6 learnset moves) and add them to your PCs.

This horse was much rougher than his Zebstrika, going faster than the electric horse ever did. Clinging to those reins felt like the only thing keeping him on top of this horse.

And throughout the ride, he could hear his Lycanroc chasing after them, using Accelrock after Accelrock to get close. He could understand Rocky's concern, but he was going too fast to be heard.

He was still unaware he was a disembodied spirit.

Yet during the ride, he felt increasingly comfortable sitting on top, his ride turning from desperately clinging to something more gentle, even as the speed remained consistent.

But just as he felt he truly got it, he felt the horse turn around, running the way it came. He even heard it pass his Lycanroc, his Pokemon narrowly missing him and going on another chase.

It was only a matter of time until the ride stopped - and it sounded like he was back at Andy's camp. "Guess that's it?" Hideo asked, noticing the horse lying down so it'd be easier for him to get off it.

Yet right as he did, it was like he slipped on the air, falling to the ground. It didn't hurt - much. His back was sore, but it was a settled soreness, not the kind you get right as you fall.

As he sat back up, he felt something nuzzle his cheek - a distinctly horse-like face pressing against his own. "That's gotta be the weirdest way I've befriended a Pokemon," Hideo mused, taking a spare Pokeball out of his pocket, tapping it against the Spectrier.

Just as the horse was drawn in, he heard his Lycanroc return, breathing heavily. "It's alright, Rocky," Hideo said, raising the now-occupied Pokeball for him to see, "I finally caught it."

The Lycanroc just stared at him, walking closer and sniffing the boy just to make sure that he really was alive again.
