the hunt was on.

wolfgang looks around the vicinity for any signs of pokemon that might have caused the destruction of the fields on a local littleroot farm. mowed down stalks were present and obvious, but they lead to nowhere at first sight.

whether it's stalling or waiting for an opportune time, wolfgang's scan of his surroundings eventually find an izzy stumbling his way towards the site in question.

"well, well, well, who do we have here?" he teases. furrowed brows effectively relaxed at the sight, all while he crosses his arms at the sight of an old colleague. "what are ya up to?"

context clues tell him the obvious, but he'd rather have it confirmed by the other.

Izzy had encountered various interruptions during his busywork, he wasn't exactly a stranger to being stopped and questioned by do-gooders or even members of the League; he was perfectly used to lying to people's faces about exactly what he was doing. That was the whole point of the separation between Rocket Izzy and Mechanic Izzy - nobody would stick their noses too far.

Wolfgang, though, knew far more than anybody should have about Izzy. It was hard to lie to someone you'd literally broken the law beside.[break][break]

He looked up at the taller guy with the look of a cornered animal. "What am I up to? The fuck do you think I'm-" He cut himself off with a groan. They were obviously here for the same reason - however fucking annoying that may be. His skin subconsciously reddened at the simple embarrassment of being known; of having someone have power over him.[break][break]

"...This isn't Rocket shit, okay? I'm just trying to make a quick buck", as if it exonerated him.

izzy's embarrassment had his rosy skin get more accentuated by the rush of blood. cute. he scoffs, and then chuckles.

"good for you. don't let me catch you in one, ya hear?"

he'd rather not have the people he knows be connected with rocket, but there's little he can do with that situation.

stern eyes frisk his person, though he finds nothing that suggests anything that goes against his claim. not that he'd do anything with it but use it as an excuse to shout, he supposed.

"if that's the case, then what's the plan here?"

wolfgang already has his mapped out. the ravaged fields leave little to be hidden and everything was as exposed as it can be. he turns to izzy, waiting for an answer to see if he's in the same page.

"Obviously not..." He grumbles, awkwardly rubbing at the back of his neck as though it might detract from the blush. The way that Wolfgang stares at him doesn't help - like sizing up prey, checking him up and down for cracks in the armour, for lies. Izzy hated it more than anything. If he was religious or cared about that kinda shit at all, he might've said a prayer just to get the attention off of himself.[break][break]

Luckily, whatever non-deity was listening to Izzy's non-prayer granted that wish, as the taller man opposite Izzy moved swiftly on.[break][break]

The plan? Admittedly, Izzy hadn't really gotten that far...[break][break]

"I just figured there would be, like... a... Pokémon here..." It sounded stupid now that he said it out loud. "I bet you've got a full plan, escape route and emergency backpack of supplies worked out, though, huh?"

"the plan is to get the culprit. simple as that."

or at least he thinks it's simple though. coming up with a plan to deal with a problem was just not worth it for an obscure person he doesn't care about, which is their client in this case.

wolfgang starts to move forward, following a trail of trampled crops. he has nothing prepared, but if this was just some simple farm problem, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

"it's just some wild pokemom. how hard can it be?"

The way Wolfgang said it like it was so simple made Izzy roll his eyes - maybe it was the deep-rooted constant anxiety, but he never found things to ever be as simple as that, especially not missions like this. Knowing their luck, the culprit in question would be a feral hoard of Tyrantrum looking for an Izzy-sized bite to eat.[break][break]

"I guess it might be that simple, yeah" Izzy shrugs, his tone suggesting he definitely did not believe what he was saying.[break][break]

"If it's something small that we can't see, then... maybe it's made a den or something. We should look for that"[break][break]

He follows Wolfgang, keeping just behind him. The little meek lamb in the shadow of the wolf. Why did he always end up like this? This dude wasn't even in rocket anymore... ugh.

"finally something this 'mon can be useful for."

he takes out his typhlosion, who yawns after escaping its confinement. a quick ruffle of its fur on its head wakes it up before wolfgang nudges it to move forward.

they eventually find a hole, much like what izzy had predicted. he's unsure if it's the burrow of the same thing that defiled the farm, but they're definitely leaving no suspect unchecked.

"go dig that place up! leave nothing behind!" he points at the hole for his badger thing to dig through, which the fire-type promptly does.

"this is what you get for digging up apricorn trees at my backyard, rats!" he shouts while his typhlosion terrorizes the burrow of bunnelby.

Izzy watches the Typhlosion get busy, very quickly and suddenly, scrabbling up the burrow of whichever poor pokémon had decided to cause trouble. A gaggle of bedraggled Bunnelby suffer at the hands of it's fiery grasps, some wriggling out the other side of the burrow and bounding away.[break][break]

Watching their cottontails disappear into the stalks, Izzy let out his Inkay and nodded in the bunnies' direction, Wira taking the message and heading over to CONSTRICT the ones she could catch up with.[break][break]

"Tsk. Anybody'd think you get your kicks from harassing poor innocent pokémon" He raises a brow at Wolfgang, and... is that a tiny smirk, then, as Izzy speaks? Perhaps, just slightly. Maybe it was different now that he was speaking to someone who wasn't either a complete stranger or a fellow rocket.

with a closed fist, he silently cheers on his typhlosion as it dives down the ditch. izzy's statement gets him to turn abruptly, providing an adequate correction for the sake of his already poor reputation.

"this isn't harassment. this is payback!"

ruthlessness was one trait someone picks up after hanging out with rocket for a while, especially those who had been in the organization within the blackwell regime. wolfgang's case, however, was a case of his personality matching well with stereotypes.

he opens his mouth to explain more, but realizes where his priorities lie when he turns back to the hole where his typhlosion was doing its job.

"smoke every last of 'em out, rex!"

black smoke start to rise up from the exit hole where the inkay had already started wrangling up the bunnelby. every single one exits the warren. wolfgang immediately rises up from a crouching position, pats izzy at the back, before chasing after the ones that escaped.

"fucking get them!"

The guy was crazy.[break][break]

Izzy understood ruthlessness as much as anyone, even though he'd never been all that good at it. Fucking people up and being violent was something he could shut his mind off for, but it would eat away at him afterwards. Wolfgang on the other hand... well, he lived up to his namesake, that was for certain.[break][break]

The last rabbits left in the warren rushed out to escape the Typhlosion's smokescreen, running straight into Wira's constricting tentacles. Before long, every single Bunnelby was secured.[break][break]

"Guess that takes care of those bastards, huh?"[break][break]

He goes to catch up with his Inkay and turns to Wolfgang.[break][break]

"What do you wanna do with 'em?"

he opens his mouth with an aggressive furrow in his brows. a sound comes out, but it gets stopped abruptly when wolfgang takes the moment to think.

a finger points to the direction of oldale with an outstretched arm. a chunk of woodland trees and bushes cover an area ahead of them, but he's pretty sure that there will be a fence somewhere out there.

"chuck 'em away far from here. it's the next town's problem now."

he doesn't like their neighbors anyways. they're basically in the same boat as littleroot, but they get all smug just because they can host a festival for the entire region or two.

"as long as they're not here, we're good. this'll teach 'em not to mess with us littleroot folks!"

arms rest on his waist while the typhlosion returns from its trip from the burrow and snuggles with wolfgang. the fire-type gets nudged away when dirt starts to cling on his shirt.
