Birdie-Birdie joined the yet-unnamed Delibird (it seemed a little clumsy…Fura-Fura? Lefty-Lefty?), taking the appropriate letters and stuffing them in his tail.

”We should be alright. S’mostly the climb I was worried ’bout.” It was just two or three houses. He could do that. He could definitely do that! Snow, rain, heat, nor head of ache. Or something.

matias scoops his own clumsy delibird up and onto virizion. somehow, it manages to slip, but matias is quick to stop it from sliding off with a firm hand. lefty-lefty definitely needs a bit of training.

"i'll meet you back at the pokemon center when it's done."

he hoists himself onto virizion, settling comfortably behind lefty-lefty.

"send me those locations!"

and off they went in a green zoom!

Locke gave the other man a thumbs up, pulling up the correct address as the other man disappeared in a rush of wind. He took a moment to screenshot the route and send it to Matias, before pocketing it with an exhausted sigh.

They let Birdie-Birdie lead the way through the neighborhood, only stopping to course-correct whenever the Delibird took a wrong turn. It was…slow, the blue sky fading into deep purples and oranges as they finally, finally closed the last mailbox of the day.

By now the steady pounding in their head had settled into a dull ache, though whether it was the tea from earlier taking effect or the simple relief that came with the end of the work day, they couldn’t tell. Either way, as they dragged themselves back into the Pokémon Center, all Locke could think about was collapsing into one of the available beds as soon as possible.

after a hectic evening, matias also closes the last mailbox of the day, then walks back over to virizion with a heavy sigh.

"that was...more tiring than i thought it'd be."

they make their way back down to the pokemon center knowing he'd spend the night there. he's far too tired to make the trip back home to lilycove. he's shooting a quick text to Eva Morales to let her know as he walks over to locke.

"did you get yours done on time?"

Despite the overwhelming exhaustion calling his body to sleep, Locke willed himself awake long enough for Matias to return, which thankfully was not very long. He gave another small thumbs up, about all he could manage at this point, flashing the other man a small, but grateful smile.

When Matias didn’t immediately take his leave afterwards, the corners of their mouth turned down into a confused frown. ”Yer not goin’ home? I didn’ keep ya too late, did I?” An edge of guilt crept into their voice alongside the accent they were too tired cover.

"nah. i was planning on staying the night anyways."

"i got stuff to do here tomorrow. figured it'd be easier to just spend the night."

then, looking over his shoulder, he gestures.

"wanna get a bunk bed?"

Locke was skeptical of the older man’s excuse for staying, but also just tired enough to accept it as truth.

”Sure th-thing,” he yawned, getting up to follow Matias to the Pokémon Center’s overnight lodgings.

They stopped halfway to the door however. ”Ah. Almost forgot.” They turned to the pair of Delibird trailing behind them, gesturing at the one they were pretty sure wasn’t Birdie-Birdie.

”How does Lucky-Lucky sound?”
