“I don’t know what kind of Gyarados you have but mine is an absolute nightmare around a certain time of the month,” he said with a sigh as he watched Matias catch a Combee—thankfully, the Combee was female.

(Oh, he had no idea that the shiny Combee he had was a male…)

Anyway.

A Cottonee fluttered around, floating close to the ground—and before he could even blink, a sudden blast of flame came screaming down from the skies above.

“Don’t burn it alive!” he shouted at the Salamence, while the Cottonee flung up Razor-sharp Leaves at the Salamence, to no avail.

Another burst of Flamethrower from the Salamence stopped the Grass-type dead in its tracks, and before it could literally be reduced to nothing, Alexei threw another Pokéball to spare it further pain.

braviary (m) sheer force - thrash, whirlwind, superpower, peck

"maybe pokemon just like me in general."

it would make sense. matias is very likeable as a person.

the shiftry that appears may think otherwise, however, as it walks up showing off its intense SWAGGER. braviary falls for it but it doesn't matter in the end.

shiftry EXPLODES, falling to the ground after, fainted.

This time a Lilligant came prancing across their path; however he already had one of them—wasn’t that hilarious? He was out here, looking for certain avians, yet they kept running into Grass-types.

Well, most of the Unovan Grass-types, he already had… or did he?

He’d have to recheck that again…

“One of, but not the most powerful—” he trailed off, however a Rowlet decided to come crashing in and play bowling with Matias, trying to knock him over like a bowling pin.

The other man’s warning came maybe a little too late because while Alexei didn’t laugh, his face instead ended up looking something like…

“Too late,” he continued as he saw another bowling ball (this time of the large and spiky variety) roll by.

“Hey, at least it’s not that one that decided to clobber you in the leg,” he continued as he pointed the Ferroseed that had rolled away, minding its own business.

it's like stepping on legos. who would've known a small rowlet like that could cause so much pain? even now, matias' shin is in pain.

"i hate you."

with a frustrated sigh, he glances up to the skies only to see a mandibuzz swooping right at him. he ducks out the way, bending at his old man knees only to stumble back.

"BIRD!"

his braviary enters the fray with a strong WHIRLWIND that sends mandibuzz spiraling towards the ground. matias, showing mercy, captures it before it could break its neck.

“Bitch, would you rather that one clobbered you in the legs?” Alexei began with an extremely pointed eye roll as he gestured at the departing Ferroseed.

“If the Ferroseed bowled into you instead of the Rowlet, we’d be halfway to Fortree General right now! Have you seen the fucking spikes on that?!” he added a few moments later as this time, a Rufflet came flying into view—very nearly colliding with Alexei had he not dodged out of the way at the very last second.

“What in the hell?” he blinked, hearing the resounding CRASH! that the Rufflet had sustained the moment it had barreled into the tree behind him.

“Kyouya, was that you?!” he shouted up to one of the two airborne specks; however it was the Salamence who gave a very loud roar in response.

He looked over at the Rufflet, and immediately noticed that its feathers were standing up all the wrong way—

“You bit into it with Thunder Fang?!” he continued, and the Salamence snickered.

“Geez.”

He could only guess what the Rufflet had done, however he did have a soft spot for the particular species, and chucked an empty Pokéball at it; the better to spare it the grief.

(Because he was pretty sure that his Braviary was going to scream at the Salamence later.)

getting clobbered in the knee by a spiky boy ferroseed definitely sounds a lot worse than a rotund rowlet. in fact, feathers versus spikes shouldn't even be a comparison. so he supposes he got away lucky there.

just as he takes a step to the side, a weepinbell falls from the tree to land right atop his head. it suctions its lips around his temple, making it seem like a hat.

After he’d managed to catch the Rufflet, something else decided to drop down on Matias’s head and—

“What in the hell?” he laughed at the sight of the Weepinbell that suctioned itself onto his head.

“Check if your brain’s still in there,” he added after he let the laughter out.

It didn’t take too long for a Volbeat to come flying by—wait, was the darkness already coming? Didn’t those particular Pokémon come out in the evening? Weird…
