some might feel guilty but he doesn't. he doesn't have time for that either as his main focus is to train up his pokemon to a level he feels comfortable with in battles. the birds just haven't been his priority.

Honestly he lost track of time. Nodding quietly at Matias’s words, he would have to start making arrangements for all the avians coming toward the Sanctuary in a few weeks.

And then—

“About time!” he breathed out, and before he could even do so as whistle, the Salamence came screaming down from the sky with a Thunder Fang just as the Farfetch’d had chucked a Razor Leaf right at Alexei himself before he could even bring out one of the Pokétreats and try to feed the avian.

“Be careful!” he yelled at the Salamence as the leaves then whip around trying to shred at the much-larger draconid.

The Salamence isn’t having any of it, though.

A second Thunder Fang knocks the Farfetch’d unconscious and another Pokéball is thrown.

“And to think I need two of these!”

A Golisopod cackled somewhere in the undergrowth, but he paid it no mind.

matias already has a gossifleur (which is a nightmare to spell) but he doesn't mind catching another. that way, he can evolve it into an eldegoss which is great because he doesn't have that yet.

his braviary swoops down for another PECK, pinning the gossifleur against a tree as well before a pokeball snaps it up.

he looks over at his friend, smiling.

"i'm sure another farfetch'd will come eventually."

"i think it's time to call it a day, alex."

they've been out here for ~~months~~ hours so it's time to head back. an elite four and a gym leader both have their duties to tend to, after all.

when matias is about to turn back and wheel the gym leader back to fortree, he stops to peer up at the approaching pidgeotto. while it isn't a fire-type, it's still a kanto mon.

WHIRLWIND sweeps it up into a pokeball.
