"c'moooon. there ya go little guy. just follow the falinks and you'll be good." kazimir and his falinks helped lead a small pod of young squirtle walk through the forest after they got turned around while on their way to the local pond for a nice swim and meeting their mother wartotle without worrying her. it wasn't too hard to keep an eye on them but getting younglings to follow directions was surprisingly difficult even with the help of five additional hands (or lack of) to help him in the form of the small army of lil' busters that marched alongside the young turtles.

as long as they were moving then the little water turtles would follow the fighting type army which while good on paper went wrong the moment they stopped to catch a breather. the little turtles would be quick on their feet to scamper away and try to explore their surroundings despite how dangerous they could be. luckily for kazimir he was expecting some help to give him a hand with these babies, the only question was what was taking them so long?

Whatever delayed company from the League that Kazimir Wynter had been waiting for, it surely was not Elisabeth Fiorelli.[break][break]

The Kalosian noblewoman had taken one of her daily strolls in the woods just outside of her nearby cottage, enjoying the scenery with her Lilligant and Aromatisse. She hadn't anticipated much to occur during this little routine of hers, save for perhaps encountering a Bug-type Pokemon or two that might tickle her fancy.[break][break]

Instead, she saw a stray Squirtle waddling all by himself in the woods, crying as he searched in vain for his family.[break][break]

Curious. It was rare to find Water-type Pokemon so far inland.[break][break]

"Why you are terribly fussy, aren't you, little one?" Elisabeth said tenderly, taking the lone Squirtle into her arms. Her crystal blue eyes scanned the premises, searching for any sign of his group. And then she saw him.[break][break]

Kazimir Wynter.[break][break]

It was difficult to miss such a man indeed, for he towered as high as the trees of Petalburg Woods. His Falinks stood to the side of multiple other young Squirtles, nudging the turtles along beside their Wartortle mother. Without thinking, Elisabeth strode towards the group, the baby Squirtle in her hands held before her as if in offering.[break][break]

"Sir?" What might have sounded absurdly formal from anyone else sounded earnestly sincere and polite from Elisabeth's lips. "I believe you lost one of your young wards."[break][break]

What a motley crew. Even for a man of such obvious strength, it would be exhausting to look after so many Pokemon at once.[break][break]

"Ah, my name is Elisabeth. These are Lilliana and Plumeria, my Pokemon. We live just outside the woods here, actually." A hand was extended in friendly greeting. "I hate to impose, but... You seem as if you could use a hand leading these young Squirtle to their home. Would you like us to assist?"

as kazimir towered over the line of squirtles he couldn't help but notice something was a little off about his group yet couldn't place what it was until he started to count them all out. "one two three four five...uh...think we're missing one of them." the mama wartortle seemed to have the same feeling as he did as she looked over her litter and her face started to show bits of panic as she looked up and down their path to try and spot the missing baby. luckily for them someone seemed to have come to their own rescue in the form of a trio of beauties coming down their way with the missing baby in their hands.

kaz let out a sigh of relief as he walked up to them, his towering form becoming more obvious that he was a redwood of a man as he approached the other trainer. "oh man thank you for finding him. the little guy must have slipped under our noses when we looked away for a second. for a couple of squirtles they sure can move when they want to even out of the water." he took the little baby into his hands and held it up in his own and gave it a small scowl before holding it close to his chest where it looked like it was almost squished against it.

he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the offer to help, sure he was looking for some but from how long he's been here something must have come up with the help that was supposed to join up with him. in that case if someone was offering then he might as well take them up on it, he could use the help. "if that's no real trouble for you. we just gotta help these guys get to a nearby pond safe and sound. but as ya can see they will get away from you if you take your eyes off of them, and that's not even including the mons out here that can step on them by accident...or on purpose. name's kazimir by the way, and nice to meet you elizabeth. just follow my falinks and they'll lead the way to our goal."

"You know what they say about those Water-types. Terribly slippery." Elisabeth grinned at her terrible pun, her Lilligant politely pretending not to hear her while her Aromatisse giggled.[break][break]

The way that Kazimir scowled at the little baby Squirtle amused Elisabeth, and the Squirtle's abashed look of apology as Kazimir squished it close amused her all the more. He was good at this, wasn't he? And very sincere in the task. The way he cared about each little Pokemon showed itself in the care he took to keep the turtles in line, giving them a stern look if any dared to venture out.[break][break]

Elisabeth let out a soft, small laugh despite herself. "I'm sure the mother Wartortle is grateful for your assistance co-parenting today," she said with a smile. "You seem to have a handle on the little rascals."[break][break]

Still, it delighted Elisabeth when he allowed her and her Pokemon to help. Lilliana the Lilligant stood at the back of the line, scooping any squirming Squirtles that tried to sneak out into her leafy arms, while she summoned a harmless swirl of MAGICAL LEAF to delight and enchant the turtles ahead of her into following the Falinks and their trainer. At the front, her Aromatisse Plumeria emitted a sweet perfume with ATTRACT, likewise encouraging the small creatures to follow her ahead.[break][break]

"Do you know where you are headed?" Elisabeth asked pleasantly. "I'm quite familiar with these woods. If we go through this nearby clearing, you should find the largest pond in Petalburg Woods by far." She pointed, turning to Kazimir to indicate the direction she had in mind. "There's many lovely flowers that bloom there, too. Water lilies in particular."

"kinda familiar with it. i don't come to these woods very often but i like to think i've been here enough to get a general direction of things." he responded to her question about if he was sure he was heading in the right direction. like her he was pretty sure that on their current path that they would reach the largest pond in the woods so the task at hand should be simple enough. at least that was the hope.

"water lilies huh? i take it your a bit of a flower expert? never really fancied the kinda...dang what was it that they called it? something about the language of flowers?" it was on the tip of his tongue but he couldn't quite place it. his mind wandered too far into trying to think of an answer he wasn't aware of something moving in the shadows until it burst forward and knocked over the wartotle mother onto her shell. luckily his falinks were quick to throw up protects all around themselves and their charges as the beast in the shadows revealed itself to be a liepard with a hungry look in her eyes.

"oh damn! get back! go do-" as kazimir held up a pokeball the liepard's glare switched from eyeing the quivering squirtles to kazimir in and instant as it darted past them and jumped up at the blond giant who's eyes went wide as he fell back first onto the ground letting his pokeball roll away from him as the liepard bared her fangs in his face. was it hungry for more tender meat? or did it sense the danger he was about to throw out? either way..."oh man liepard breath stinks!"

"I'm a florist in Petalburg, actually. Do you mean the language of flowers--?" Elisabeth's reply was cut off by the interruption of the ferocious Liepard, darting in through the forest with a hungry look in its eyes. The quick-thinking of the Falinks' PROTECT kept the feline Pokemon from attacking the vulnerable Squirtles, but alas, their trainer was not so fortunate.[break][break]

If the Liepard could topple such a large and strong man as Kazimir, then the Pokemon's stinky breath was the least of their concerns.[break][break]

The relaxed ease in Elisabeth's posture subtly shifted, her gaze hardening as she motioned for her Aromatisse to strike. The Fairy-type twirled in place, a luminous MOONBLAST striking the Liepard with full, blinding force. It was enough to get it to slink away from the larger man, licking its wounds as it prowled around Elisabeth and the Squirtles with a glower.[break][break]

"Are you all right?" Elisabeth asked, her focus never shifting from the Pokemon's movement around them. "The Liepard seems to be alone for now, fortunately enough."[break][break]

The Wartortle regained her footing with a dizzy sigh, shaking her head. This time, the Aromatisse approached the mother turtle instead, bestowing the radiant energy of HEAL PULSE upon her to heal her wounds. [break][break]

"The Liepard is coming around," Elisabeth warned, her Lilligant preparing an ENERGY BALL to strike. "Are you ready?"[break][break]

the liepard was blasted off of kazimir and it gave the blonde a chance to run over and grab his fallen pokeball and release its contents. out of the capsule came an urshifu as big as him and it took an aggressive stance as the feral cat circled around them and bared its fangs once more to try and intimidate the group despite the numbers advantage they had over it. as if to counter it the falinks went from protecting the little squirtles to standing in between them and the liepard to show no retreat on their part as they stood their ground ready to lay down their small bodies to protect their juniors.

"pretty ballsy to try and take us all on ain't it?" kaz asked as he dusted himself off and stood next to elizabeth, "think there's a flower for this kind of situation? or maybe at least a hard earned victory? might need a bouquet of them for later." with that kazimir snapped his fingers and his urshifu rushed forward with a wicked blow that sent the liepard flying backwards and into a tree. in addition the mama wartortle kept the liepard up against the tree with a water gun to douse it in furious raging rivers that only a mother could produce.

"Victory bouquets can wait. Leaves, I think, will do just fine for now," Elisabeth said, her Lilligant summoning a LEAF STORM to subdue the already beaten and battered Liepard. [break][break]

At Kazimir's comment at how 'ballsy' the Pokemon was, she laughed -- a sound rich with melody. "It does seem a bit unfair, doesn't it? Even with our precious charges, we have a great advantage on the poor creature."[break][break]

Mewling in anger, the Liepard at last turned tail and fled, licking its paws in misery as it sought easier prey.[break][break]

Faced flushed from the excitement, Elisabeth grinned and turned to her companion, hand cocked on her hip. "Well that was an adventure, wasn't it?" she said, eyes bright. "Most of my walks out here are much less exciting."[break][break]

Soon they had found themselves at the promised pond, where the mother Wartortle motioned for her babies to join her one by one into the water's sparkling depths. Never before had Elisabeth seen so many Water-type Pokemon gravitate here, eagerly playing in the outer mud and reeds while others blew bubbles at the pond's centre. [break][break]

There was a sense of pride and achievement in arriving here at last, and Elisabeth turned to Kazimir with a smile on her lips.[break][break]

"The Gladiolus," she said. "In answer to your question, from before. It is a flower of justice and victory--for its blossoms curiously resemble a sword in shape. Fitting, no?" Her crystal blue eyes assessed him thoughtfully. "Such a flower suits you, I think."

"sorry about that. i tend to draw in trouble from time to time." kazimir apologized as he gave off a little bit of blush on his face as elizabeth mentioned how her walks were more on the peaceful side. sure there were a lot of dangerous pokemon out here in the deepest parts of the woods but he was sure that it was relatively safe route they were going. guess he was wrong.

still she was nice enough to answer his earlier question about certain flowers. gladiolus flowers. it certainly had the name of something that meant justice and victory. "i like it." kaz said with a smile as he watched the little squirtles bob in the water as they followed their mother into the center of the lake before diving under the water's surface to return to what would be their home growing up.

"well i think that's a job well done. again i feel like i should apologize for sort of dragging you into all of this. i appreciate your help but i feel kind of bad that we got attacked none the less. how about i escort ya back home?" he offered an apology both in words and with a smile before turning towards the pond and noticing all the pokemon that were just enjoying themselves and the scenery that surrounded them, "or we could just take a well earned break and enjoy the view here. never really knew how pretty these woods can be."

"Really? You don't look like a troublemaker to me." Elisabeth looked at Kazimir Wynter, something in his towering physique sparking a dormant memory. Hadn't he been in the Hoenn news? Something about a new member of the Elite Four. Clarity struck belatedly, the realisation finally dawning: oh, this was him.[break][break]

What illustrious company had found its way into her little woods.[break][break]

"At any rate, there are no apologies needed. I wanted to help your little turtles in distress." A splash of water from one of the Squirtle startled her Lilligant into squeaking, her leafy hands flailing to protect her face. Elisabeth covered her mouth with a hand, stifling a laugh. "Though I think now they are the ones being a menace, don't you?"[break][break]

The offer to escort her home was a kind one, and while Elisabeth didn't need it, she decided the polite thing to do would be to accept. "There are plenty of lovely places around here," she agreed. "I'm happy to point out the flowers to you as we pass by. In fact, a great many Gracidea flowers have begun to bloom and flourish here this spring..."[break][break]

A thought, quickly filed away in a mental memo: Don't forget to send for a gladiolus bouquet later. It's the least you can do to thank the man for such a memorable day, Elisabeth.
