"Nah, you're good." Not many would pass his gym challenge if Xander started deducting points for struggling with the paintings. [break][break]
He tries and fails to match the pilot's smile. An awkward, half-grin spreads across his face instead. Though it's not there long, the lines at the edge of Xander's mouth practically drag his lips into a frown. [break][break]

He really needed to get better at this.[break][break]
The churning of gears echoes from behind the portrait. A second later, there's a click, and the wall holding the artwork swings ajar to reveal a stairwell. Xander stepped forward, paying little attention to the scattering women. "Up we go." he takes the lead.[break][break]
Rays of splintered light pour down the stairwell in a mixture of gold and orange. Barely visible at the bottom, their brilliance grows in intensity the further up the pair travels. Eventually, the various beams coalesce into a golden archway of warmth.[break][break]
Smooth stone and jagged pillars greet the pair beyond the arch. The source of light hovers above in a skybox painted the colors of dawn. [break][break]
A flaming sphere too close to be the sun yet burning like it all the same. Xander's Volcarona floats before the orb, basking in its warmth and power.[break][break]
The gym leader moves aside, behind one of the rugged columns near the stairs. He then looks to Angelo and nods, ordering the pilot to stand before Volcarona.
