As always, Temp couldn't help but throw an arm around jayden cross's shoulders.

"Dude, it's no problem at all! I've been wanting stuff to pick up around here, anyway." His Gym Challenges tended to be kind of slow going at times. He hoped that his recent batches of more fast paced matches would go well.

"Good training for my pokemon, anyway!" Temp, too, though of HST. He had mostly been a punching bag for other people; it was right before he took up the mantle of Gym Leader, so no one had looked for him too hard, but in the event of another challenge like that he wanted to do better. Show how much he had grown, even!

"I won't go through all the technical stuff, but you get the first move, kay?" He jerked his thumb at the water, where his Gorebyss was already waiting.

[attr="class","postbody"] he tries not to flinch at the arm thrown around his shoulders. he'd been spending a little more time with his mentor's partner lately — maybe one day, he would get used to it.

[break][break] he is quiet as temp speaks, still thinking about the challenge ahead. part of him had been apprehensive at first — not because he did not think his pokemon were up to the challenge... just. water did not typically bring up good memories for him.

[break][break] "it's been a while since the tournament," he said with a nod. for jayden's part, half of the whole tournament had been a blur. even though as much time had passed, there was still a gnawing feeling in his gut that reminded him of the pain that he had felt at the time. the other half of the tournament had been filled with all sorts of different challenges — challenges which inspired jayden now.

[break][break] even with his beast title stripped from him, his desire to become stronger - for himself, for Rocket - was not quelled.

[break][break] jayden nods at the other one more time, violet eyes flickering up to the water. just as it does whenever he sees an expansive pool of water, his stomach sinks. you would think he would have gotten used to it, with all the time he spent in sootopolis.

[break][break] he tosses a pokeball into the air, revealing his poipole. "peklo —" he starts, but the ultra beast has different things in mind. it zooms forward with a cackle, emitting a scream that has colors rippling across the sky. dragon pulse surges towards unforgivingly towards the lake water.

Temp lets out a laugh when jayden cross's pokemon seems more than ready for action. Well, he'd find a worthy partner in his Gorebyss, then! The Dragon Pulse ripples over the top of the pool's water making the water type flinch; he hadn't had much time to react to the sudden attack.

But Jayden and Peklo would just see a fire start to burn in the Gorebyss's eyes. Something primal and feral. As pretty as they were, Gorebyss were fearsome predators. This one was also eager for a challenge. Keeping his eyes locked on Peklo, the Gorebyss started to quickly dart and swim in a strange and rhythmic pattern.

Little plops of water started to hit the hop of the pool as the Gorebyss' Rain Dance started to take effect.

Temp made a face and glanced up at the darkening sky. Well, at least he was used to being soaked.

[attr="class","postbody"] jayden bites his lip as the attack shoots out from the beast, rippling across the gym's wavepool. peklo while amiable was still an ultra beast — strong, mismatched and stubborn. had this not been why he'd asked Tempest Quinn assistance in the first place?

[break][break] "ah."

[break][break] rain droplets scour overhead, and the ditto that serves as his charm morphs into a happy-faced umbrella. he holds it above his and temp's heads to save them from rainwater.

[break][break] peklo shakes itself of the rainwater - or at least attempts to - but the sky water falls fast and unrelenting. he lets out a screech before he zooms forward and begins to cause a ferocious uproar.

Peklo charges forward and Gorebyss charges, too, meeting the other head on. His Swift Swim sees his dart at high speeds. However, his reward is just ear splitting noise. The Gorebyss foams in the water before lunging forward- trying to stick his thin and sharp mouth into the other like a needle. The Draining Kiss won't do that much to the other if it lands, types and all that, but it would be enough for a warning of what was to come.

Temp makes a surprised noise at the necklace turning into an umbrella. Then he pauses and thinks it over... that was a pretty good idea, actually.

"Your lil guy is feisty!" Actually, that made Temp think... "Hey, wanna help me with something? Pokemon related, that is."
