Despite the damages caused to it a few months back by a group of reckless rangers, Mt Pyre is exactly as Mars has come to know it to be. The mountain has recovered, albeit slowly, but it has, and although some paths had been blocked off by the landslide, others are all too familiar.

Should his familiarity with the eerie peak be cause for concern? Make him realise that there’s something unhealthy about his obsession with looking for Unown? Maybe so, but those are thoughts Mars stopped having months ago, and it’s naturally that his gaze is drawn to his surroundings – looking for signs of the presence of the elusive pokémon.

By his side, a Hatterene searches in a much different manner, her keen senses allowing her to detect the presence of someone nearby before even seeing them. She points in their direction, and Mars turns as well.

The Hatterene points. Another Hatterene points back, a mirror image. This one is scuffed and scarred; clearly a pokemon who had seen much battle and hardships. Yet she smiles at the unfamiliar pair of Martín del Mar and his pokemon. She smiles and she watches with beady eyes that reflect kindness.

There is another, a Beeheeyem. It floats in front of the redhead. A large rock is lifted with psychic force before being lowered to the ground gently. More effort than most Psychic types bother to put in. As Mars would know- it was not the lifting that was the hardest part, it was having the control to not just release the psychic force.

"Again." Is called out, almost softly. Calem hadn't noticed them yet, even if his Hattrene has. The Beeheeyem's face lights up in an odd pattern before it does as told- lifting the rock again so it can place it precisely back down.

At first, Mars simply watches, because it’s not often that he encounters another who cares for spending time training Psychic type pokémon. Aquatic ones may be what he has always loved, the only things he has left that connects him to his father, but Psychic types… Those had become part of Mars’ own preference much later, thanks to Sinnoh’s own crime syndicate.

”That’s a nice Beheeyem you have there. Well trained.” The Rocket admin smiles, and in turn, his Hatterene politely bows her head in greeting.

It’s then that the hand-like tentacle at the end of Atropos’ hat (which is actually all just hair) rises again, this time pointing towards the nearby area where wild pokémon dwell. Mars turns to look at them, but for now, he cares little for catching those he notices.

Calem glances up, sharp and quick. Martín del Mar would see his face morph from a flat and blank expression to that of a polite smile. Blink and you miss it. The picture of kindness. It's a bit eerie how the Hatterenne wears a similar expression. What was the old saying, though? Pokemon took after their trainers? Maybe it wasn't so unusual, then.

"Thank you very much. We've been working very hard. Right?" He glances towards the Beeheeyem, whose face lights up once again.

His own eyes glance over the pokemon before he nods lightly and clicks his tongue. The Hatterene walks over with measured steps before slamming down with a Brutal Swing on the Munna. It hits the ground and stays still. A Luxury Ball is plucked from an empty pocket and tossed at the pink pokemon.

"Calem Pollet. Lovely to meet you." He lowers his head and bows to the other like a prince might.

He doesn’t miss it, observant as he is, but if there is any surprise within him when seeing the way Calem Pollet’s expression changes, his own features reveal nothing of it. Then again, why would it surprise him? Mars is a man who has spent his life around deceivers and liars. He is one of them.

What his features do show, however, is the way those gold-toned eyes of his narrow when hearing the other’s name. It lasts only for a second or two, and what follows is a smirk – slight as it may be. ”Pollet, huh? Your reputation precedes you.”

A Drakloak loudly announces its presence with something akin to a screech, interrupting their conversation, but its DRAGON RUSH is of no effect to the Hatterene that catches it by its horns before delivering a point-blank SHADOW BALL. Swift retaliation.

A Luxury Ball is thrown, and Mars turns his attention to Calem once more. ”Martín del Mar, and the same goes to you: it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

Calem's Hatterene leans over to grab the Munna's pokeball. Movement catches her eye as a Ralts tries to shiver and hide from her rancid vibes. She just slaps it with another Brutal Swing, a backhand if anything, and drags it over to Calem when she brings over the pokeball. He glances at it before nodding in approval, tossing another ball.

Calem hums and lifts a hand to his mouth, hiding a soft laugh behind it. "I do hope what you've heard is good." A slight tease to the other. How much did Martín del Mar think he knew about the Pollet family?

Lowering his hand again, Calem glances between the other's Hatterene and Mars himself. A tilt of the head, smile still present but eyebrows knit in a show of confusion. "It's rare that others come up this way; are you here for a little training too, Mr. del Mar?"

Never enough, because his curiosity knows no bounds, but where Calem and his family are concerned, just the things they’re both known and infamous for, but he has never had any interest in digging any deeper than that. Why would he? After all, until now, Calem Pollet was just a name he had heard mentioned.

”Is there any reason for it not to be good?” He teases all the same, but it’s with a chuckle that he marks his words and just that: teasing and nothing more. His Hatterene remains as silent as ever, and her attention turns towards the east, where a Phantom floats. For her, he nods.

Just like that, a sphere of phantasmagorical energy is created by the ever so quiet and regal witch, and it’s with precision and deadly accuracy that the SHADOW BALL is sent towards the Phantump. Once this is done, Mars simply throws a Luxury Ball.

Once this is done, Mars regards Calem, considering his answer. ”I tend to come to Mt. Pyre quite often, actually, although I imagine that's rather surprising.... I’m looking for a certain pokémon. You haven’t happened to see any unusual ones around here, have you?”

His smile remains, amiable as ever.

Calem watches with thinly veiled interested as Martín del Mar takes down his prey. The Gengar that floats into a headstone in an attempt to hide doesn't show his interest; it can be voyeur to their conversation for all he cares. He regards Mars a moment before humming and checking his pokeballs. He would need to purchase more soon. Shame on him for forgetting to stock up before coming out today. Then again, the pokemon here typically had the sense to avoid him and his pokemon.

As the other is joking, he ignores the teasing statement.

"Nothing more unusual than normal." Mars was giving him very little to work with. A Pidgey with an unusual coloration could be what he was looking for. Or perhaps some legendary that had appeared and then vanished. Calem wouldn't have any idea. "Perhaps if I had a better idea of what you were looking for?" Is tacked on, almost helpful.

Most unusual things tend to be of Mars’ interest, especially if said unusual things happen to be rare and perhaps even powerful pokémon. There really is no to his statement, vague as it may have been, but undeniably so, there’s also the fact that when coming to Mt. Pyre, he’s definitely in search of one particular type of unusual thing.

For a short moment, he watches Calem Pollet, not bothering with hiding the fact that he’s assessing the other – considering, judging, deciding if Calem is the sort of person with whom he’d like to share such information. Once the decision is made, Mars reaches for a Luxury Ball, because in the end, it’s not like this is a huge secret.

Many in Team Rocket know of his interest in Unown, actually. Especially after he began looking into the Unown Report in an official capacity.

”Something like this.”
[break][break]
And so, an Unown-! is released, the symbol pokémon bobbing from side to side next to its trainer while looking at Calem with what seems like utter disinterest. It’s probably thanks to its permanently bored expression, honestly.

In the background, a Munna is taken down with the same brutal efficiency as everything else had been so far. At some point, Calem just handed over a few empty pokeballs to his partner. That way, his Hatterene could just catch on her own. He would judge her later; yet, he trusted her to not be a total fool unlike most of his pokemon. This also was prove meaningful in making it so Calem and Martín del Mar could talk mostly uninterrupted on his part.

When the Unown appears, Calem's eyes light up in recognition.

"Ah, is that... an Unown, I believe?" He tilts his head and steps forward, circling the pokemon a bit as it floated. "This is... a Solaceon variety, if I recall." Stepping back, Calem nodded to the other. "There is an unusual phenomena with Unown in ancient art. Have you heard of it?"

An unusual perspective on Unown, for sure.
