Night falls, and with it, an eerie silence overtakes the streets of often-lively Lilycove City. A heaviness hangs in the air and it’s not just due to summer’s warmth. Something feels wrong, but then again, so much has been wrong about Hoenn as of late.

The device had not been hard to find when knowing what to look for (thanks, Katherine Fairburne), but unlike the one he had seen in Slateport City months ago, this one is completely empty – no primal crystal to be found. The key to it, its core, the strange crystal that is meant to power it and link it to the League’s network, is meant to be delivered tonight, but it may never make it to its intended destination.

Masked and clad in black, it’s hidden in the shadows that Tuesday watches the area from a rooftop nearby, a Klefki snickering mischievously by his side.

She was once again placed in charge of defending one of those machines. Needless to say she was bored out of her mind. [break][break]

She did have a new friend to entertain her, an unown! He was an unown in the shape of a w, who for some fucking reason like to now only float upside down, but also spin around really fast. Much like a toddler, melody found it really funny. Mostly due to the fact for the, what the actual hell factor. [break][break]

But he wasn't the best combatant in pokemon battles, so she also had her Leavanny with her who was sewing alongside her with a couple of leaves and her own silk.[break][break]

Little did they know how short their peaceful night would last.

Of all people that could have been assigned this task, fate would have it be her. Typical. It doesn’t matter, a job is a job and her presence here won’t make his resolve waver. The fact that she’s here with an Unown, though? Well…

At the sight of it, Tuesday pauses, and from a pocket, he brings out an encrypted phone which also has the Unown Report’s app installed. The symbol on the screen is so familiar to him that he pays it little mind, making sure the inverted Unown-W is scanned before proceeding with his plan.

”Go.” A single word is spoken in a neutral and unrecognisable voice just as the phone is put away, and within seconds, Melody would feel something shift in the air. A FAIRY LOCK traps her and her pokémon in place, keeping them from escaping. It’s then that, out of thin air, a hooded man appears before her.

”Hey. Melody Miro. What a pleasure.” She wouldn’t be able to recognize any features behind his black and gold mask, and if she were to attempt to take a picture of him, she would find all light to be focused as if the mask were made of reflecting material. ”Let’s not make this difficult. Hand over the primal crystal.”

Knowing her, there’s no way she’ll just agree with his demands, but he has to give her the chance to be smart, right?

She looked up, seeing a mysterious stranger appear in front of her suddenly. [break][break]

She was unflinching, she expected something like this since it felt like rocket was constantly chasing after her. She looked at him, barely shocked it happen. "So, what was the percentage chance you thought that would actually work?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

"That little fairy lock you set up is going to be taken as an aggressive move so, don't blame me for this." she says standing up. "Tejero, silk shot!" she ordered as leavanny dashed forward with silk spewing from it's mouth attempting to bind Martín del Mar. She doubted such a simple tactic would work.

”Hm.” It’s almost as if he steps right out of the STRING SHOT’s way, but even with the verbal warning, it happens so fast that the only reason why he avoids it is that he phases a metre to the left. Short distance makes TELEPORTATION come easily, as natural as breathing, and it also makes it difficult to tell what really happened.

A split second. Blink and you miss it.

Strings of silk wrap around a nearby pole instead, and although Tuesday considers resisting the urge, Melody Miro’s words are thrown right back at her:

There’s a mocking quality to his tone, but he’s not here for idle chatter and that becomes clear when he then whistles.

In the darkness of the night, the screech of a bird of prey answers his call, and within seconds, it’s engulfed in flames that the autumnal Talonflame descends upon both the Leavanny and her trainer. FLAME CHARGE.

It’s a good thing that Tuesday’s pokémon are much different from those that the man behind the mask is known for. It would be a problem if they weren’t, considering who he’s facing.

The Klefki remains nearby, waiting for its signal to act.

The phasing catches her and her pokemon off guard. Did he have sideways heelies? What the fuck was that? [break][break]

The silk shot goes wide and clings onto a nearby pole instead of the intended target and suddenly a talon flame was charging straight at them. "Unown!" she orders as it moves in front of her and her leavanny as it began to emit a hidden power attack, becoming a rock type move to the talon flame. Yet it's strength alone wasn't enough to stop the talonflame as the unown instead took the hit. [break][break]

"Tejero!" she shouts as her pokemon already understands what she wants it to do. Leavanny pulls the string shot back with it's full mights, even using a leaf blade at the pole to possibly slice it off as the string shot pulls the pole to try and hit Tuesday from behind. Could he dodge a move he couldn't see coming? [break][break]

Melody quickly pulled out her phone and used the speed dial, placing it on speaker. "This is aqua member Melody Miro. Requesting back up! Clearance code:001924" she began to say so the operator could already begin sending anyone who was available as back up.

As it often happens with battles where the rules of the League do not apply, chaos ensues. FLAME CHARGE is met by an onslaught of rocks, one Tuesday recognizes well. Yet, Unown’s true power is shown when in numbers, and when the Symbol Pokémon is on its own, it’s easily that it becomes prey to the flaming bird. Sharp talons grab onto the Unown’s thin body, threatening to pierce through it.

Melody Miro is right in that her masked assailant doesn’t immediately see the attack coming. In the end, he’s no more than human, and no matter how much training, he cannot sense beyond what any person would.
[break][break]
That’s one of the perks of having pokémon, though.
[break][break]
A FAIRY WIND rises, called forth by the Klefki that had been watching the events unfold. It alerts Tuesday to move, and he does so just as Melody pulls out her phone. One second he’s on the pole’s path, the next he’s right in front of her, the phone being taken right out of her hands.

The pole hits the Talonflame instead, a pained screech being let out by the avian pokémon just as its talons let go of the Unown.
[break][break]
”Oh, Melody. That’s no way to treat a guest. Weren’t we having a nice chat?” He chides, tutting, and just as he steps out of her grasp, a Malamar is released.
[break][break]
”Put our friends here to sleep, will you?”
[break][break]
In response, the squid makes no sound, but luminescence marks its body when summoning its psychic power, and within a moment, the veil of HYPNOSIS falls heavy upon them.

The talon flame release it's grip on her unown as the pole instead of colliding with the man hits the avian pokemon. [break][break]

Melody freaks out that he's suddenly in front of her. His teleporting abilities were a nuisance, it let him control all of this space with no way for her to fight back against it. But there was something she could do. Upon seeing the malamar, she flinches, but why? She had no recollection of a bad experience with this pokemon...[break][break]

However the hypnosis is a move that she's familiar with "TUBA! UPROAR" She shouts as the pokemon emerges from it's pokeball and blasts a funnel of sound into the area around them preventing anyone from falling asleep. She pulls out her collapsible rapier as she takes on proper stance. "You will NOT take this crystal. You're fast, but there's no way you can beat my sound." she grins as she puts in some sound proof headphones and the uproar begins to assault the Malamar. She recalls her unown into it's pokeball since he was right, they were weak alone. [break][break]

However there was a problem, how was she supposed to keep him here in time for her reinforcements to arrest him..how was the league supposed to keep him contained...was he one of the dark triad she had been hearing about? "What does the dark triad want?! Cant you guys move around dimensions without these crystals?!" she shouts, taking a stab in the dark. [break][break]

meanwhile her Leavanny uses swords dance to boost it's strength as the pokemon leaps towards Klefki, ready to strike with a leaf blade attack on the baby keys.

He does not hear what she says. How could he? It would be different if she hadn’t called for the attack, but thankfully for him, Melody Miro makes the decision to shout her intent.

UPROAR.
[break][break]
He finds himself reaching up for his mask when the pokémon emerges, and although he initially winces at the terrible noise produced, he does manage to press one of the discrete buttons at the side of the headpiece. From that point on, Melody is muted, and whatever he gathers from what she says is based on lip reading.
[break][break]
When she looks at her again, she has a rapier and is saying something along the lines of ”You can’t beat my sound!” Seriously? That can’t be right. Mars has always liked Melody, but that sure as hell sounds like the kind of cheesy line he’d expect from the heroine in a kids’ tv show. Maybe she has a new voice acting gig for one or something.

But, anyway, this is not about Mars, this is about Tuesday.
[break][break]
While the Malamar deals with the UPROAR, Tuesday whistles, and the Talonflame understands immediately. Having recovered from the previous impact, it swoops towards the machine, STEEL WINGS cutting through it with ease. There’s an explosion just as the Scorching Pokémon rises, and although at that moment he could aim to take the primal crystal with him, Tuesday makes a much different decision there and then.

Calling his Malamar and Klefki back, the masked man takes a bow, leaving Melody with the following parting words before disappearing along with his Talonflame:

”You have no idea what you’re dealing with, Melody Miro. You don’t know the damage you’ll cause.”
[break][break]
Let her think this had been an attack orchestrated by the Dark Triad. Let her think they know who she is. Let her develop doubts about the League’s plan and maybe seek alternatives. Knowing her, she must already think it. She must not want to destroy Sea Hoenn. The Melody he knows wouldn't doom a whole dimension.

What matters to him is contingencies. The League is more equipped to deal with the meteor at this moment. He needs them to think this plan isn't the only solution. And, when this whole meteor nonsense ends, he'll sure as hell take those precious primal crystals from them. Just you wait.
