❝ "It very much is." Callan replied, but it was more than that to him. Pokemon were intrinsic to him, an extension of his being. The bond between a trainer and its Pokemon was more than just the tallies of victories. Even if sometimes, it seemed to him that mattered less and less in the face of insurmountable odds, he didn't ever want to lose that part of himself. "It's also a test of a bond between partner and trainer, I think. And when it comes down to it, battling is conflict, and conflict is where you can find your true self, your true friends, your purposes. Chess is... less visceral, though I imagine battling could be seen like that, I don't imagine the pressure is the same, or the trust you put in your partner." Callan loved battles, almost as much as he loved music, it was a difficult thing to center himself into one or the other. They were very similar to each other. "I like to think of battling more like... freestyle jazz music. There is a rhythm and structure that you impart to your Pokemon, the basics: moves, patterns, the bond between yourself and your partner. And then when it comes time to battle, that's when you have the chance to really perform."He stopped himself from gushing as they continued to walk, with the encircling light above them and the brine of the sea becoming more apparent, Callan led them to a familiar railing, he enjoyed smoking at this spot. "I'll make the time." Callan replied, turning towards her, "If I'm ever in Petalburg, I'll drop by." What would be a good gift to provide for a visit? Flowers, probably out of the question, Elisabeth didn't seem like a biscuits kind of woman either, and she would probably grow her own tea. A question for another time. Especially since he had unwittingly tripped a mine, Callan's eyebrows raised in surprised, before immediately following with a very bemused smiled. This was perhaps the first time he had seen her lose the elegantly mask she had on, even for just a moment. "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." Callan replied, that was pleasant, though perhaps he shouldn't poke at that particular hornet's nest. He liked that side of her. Callan paused, as his eyes caught her gold locks in the wind, before turning back towards her eyes. "I think so." Callan replied, letting the wind fill in the blanks of the conversation for the moment. "Does that frighten you?"[googlefont=Open Sans]
