a call from rocket is one that jayden cannot help but answer, especially one coming from a man as esteemed as Raphael Pryde .

[break][break] the rocket admin joins ana fell as she pushes through the area. where her boots clack against the flooring, his own steps are eerily silent. his father's training, after all, was not without merit.

[break][break] his own shiny GENGAR trails behind him, lips twisted into a shark's grin, that only mirrored the others.

[break][break] "cross reporting for duty, sir," he says, with a dip of his head. the words come all too easily to him, spilled out before he has a moment to think about it. he blinks a moment later, head tilted towards the woman. "nice to meet you, cygne."

The older man just gives a smile, always willing to put on some type of charm for those willing to help him as he knows it'll encourage them to participate later should he ask. Though with M.A.G.M.A around Pryde doubts he'll have any troubles finding volunteers in the future. Though for now just step one. "Thank you both for coming I won't treat you both like idiots and assume you know why you're here."[break][break]

With that said he does look toward his Melmetal who was sparing with a couple of Riolu. One Shadow and one Purified, Pryde gives a whistle making the trio stop as he gestures over toward the Melmetal who walks over. With the scrap the doctor feeds him the Melmetal is much bigger than when it originally evolved. [break][break]

"Though seeing as one of you is a new face I am Doctor Raphael Pryde, you can either call me Doctor or Pryde," his first name was not an option. "Think you two can handle the beast behind me?"

the abrasiveness of Raphael Pryde's tone doesn't bother him. he'd known the scientist long enough to be familiar with it.

[break][break] yet, his eyes glance curiously towards ana fell to see if she felt any type of way.

[break][break] the sound of dragging metal across the ground alerts him to the sight of the large pokemon, however, and even jayden is alarmed at the sight of it. though, he reminds himself, he shouldn't be. dr. pryde was an exceedingly capable man — it should not have been a surprise that he had acquired such a powerful creature.

[break][break] even if he has never seen it before, he can tell.

[break][break] "i will do my best," he said with a firm nod. he clicks his tongue under his breath and his gengar goes from returning ana fell's gengar's wave to dipping into the shadows beneath the ground, only to pop up obediently beside it's master.

[break][break] jayden's gaze, however, does not waver from the sight of the unusual pokemon.

[break][break] "apologies sir, but..." he pauses. "what is that?"

"Your opponent," is all Pryde gives as a warning before he snaps his hand. The test has no begun as the Melmetal slams their fist on the ground as energy would gather at it's head before unleashing a FLASH CANNON at the two and the singular Gengar as the other has seemed to retreat to the shadows. Dangerous? Sure, but he had some semblance of faith the two would either avoid, and if they didn't... well they wouldn't be dead at least. [break][break]

"I would suggest mega-evolving your pokemon should you hope to win," he offers as that is his goal here. To study that bond that allows such a thing.

it had been too optimistic, he supposed, to expect a clear-cut answer from Raphael Pryde. not that he had thought the outcome would be any different, but it hadn't hurt to try.

[break][break] he nods. "very well."

[break][break] energy bursts from the melmetal's grip as it cracks against the ground. jayden flips to the side swiftly, just narrowly missing getting crushed beneath an iron fist. he grits his teeth — before whistling sharp and the mega-earring on his left ear begins to glow.

[break][break] it encases his mega gengar, the pokemon swallowing the energy hungrily and greedily, with no remorse. vritra yawns wide before a DARK PULSE joins the ring of hypnosis towards the melmetal.

Raphael just smiles as Subject one captures the data of their transformation. The device on them hopefully enough to see the energy between trainer and pokemon to see if that couldn't be replicated for the future. As according to his studies the Melmetal is meant to be capable of such a feat, though he just lacks the connection to change it. Maybe if he has enough samples then...[break][break]

For now he looks to his tablet to review the footage while the pokemon battle. [break][break]

And while the Hypnosis does manage to get the supernatural metal monster a tad drowsy, Jayden does his partner no favors as the DARK PULSE quickly manages to wake it right up. Sure it take the full blast but the Melmetal looks like its little worse for wear as it brings it's arms up for a THUNDERBOLT at both Gengars.

his gaze narrows sharp at his gengar when it attacks with recklessness, not looking at his partner to bother coordiante it's efforts. jayden makes a mental note to punish the pokemon later, so that it may learn from it's mistakes.

[break][break] "vritra," he orders. "take the attack."

[break][break] the gengar seems to want to do anything but — but the order was given. jayden's sharp words forces the ghost-type to hold it's ground, electricity spearing the pokemon into place, giving ana fell's gengar ample time to blend into the background. a smear against tile, disappearing as vritra takes the brunt of the attack.

[break][break] "payback!"

[break][break] wincing with pain, the gengar lets out a roar before he peters forward in an attempt to clock the melmetal with a PAYBACK.
