There a slight note of concern there, because Tempest Quinn had almost died, but mostly there’s a smirk and a hint of what could be taken as a jab. It’s good to see Temp out and about again. And, for a battle, of all things? The last time they had battled had been when Mars challenged the other’s gym in Pacifidlog, and that feels like it had been an eternity ago, so of course he would agree. Mars loves a good battle, after all.

Also, M.A.G.M.A training matters to him. Who are we kidding, though, it’s mostly the battle part. He had even made sure to meet at the casino's underground training facilities, so they wouldn't have to worry about damaging the sub.

”Okay, let’s see your Zarude. I swear it can’t be as bad as you make it out to be.”

He knows legendary pokémon aren’t easy to train. His own Urshifu is a testament to that. It had taken time, effort, and a whole lot of patience to get the proud and stubborn Wushu Pokémon to respect his commands, but as a result, when he calls Oreius out of a Luxury Ball, the huge bear is calm.

His imposing figure towers over them, looking directly at Temp while standing in front of Mars. He’s silent, solemn, waiting for the order to attack.

Temp gives a little 'pah!' in reply to Martín del Mar, a playful eye roll and a matching grin. He was in pretty damned bad shape, sure- but if he had to stay in his house any longer he would probably go insane. Just being out here was a struggle, sure, but at least it shouldn't be...

Okay, well, this was kind of dangerous.

Temp actually already had a pokemon out. His shiny Lapras sat just behind him, ready to defend. Not from Mars or his Urshifu. No, from the Zarude that was about to be released.

"Bongo is... hmm. Well, every time I've let him out of his pokeball, he's tried to kill me and everything around me." The pure furry held in one pokemon was shocking to see. Temp hated using him unless it was an emergency. "But Gav said he defended me and used a strange move when I got hurt. I want to know what that was about."

Taking a deep breath, Temp unclipped the chipped Dive Ball from his hip. Mars would clearly be able to see how unsure that Temp was; how he hesitated before tossing the Zarude out.

Bongo hit the ground perfectly in between Temp and the Urshifu. His nostrils flared and eyes flit around the arena. When they landed on Mars, on his pokemon, he bared fangs and tensed to attack.

Yet didn't. Not yet.

An eyebrow is raised upon hearing Temp’s response, because a mythical pokémon dead set on killing its trainer sounds like exactly the opposite of an asset or a valuable resource in battle. Yet, if what Cillian Quinn had said is true (and Mars has never been given any reason to doubt his best friend) there may just be hope for this Zarude…

Either way, the underboss is ready for a show.

He even gets himself a drink: a chilled can of diet soda that pops open with the satisfying sound of fizz.

”Hey, if it gets too out of hand, I can teleport us both out of here.” His own safeguard. One of the reasons why he had decided he should be the one to be here instead of sending someone else in his place. Mars has never taken these kinds of pokémon lightly.

Temp hesitates, but when the Zarude appears, it does not attack right away. It bares its fangs, but the Urshifu does no more than stare at it – calm and unwavering.

”So far, so good. Let’s see how it responds to being attacked, then.”

He whistles a short note, and the moment he does, the Urshifu takes one step forward – lightning fast. It swings for the Zarude, aiming to strike it with a POISONOUS JAB.

The attack comes fast and sudden. Bongo does not back down; only shrieks and tries to grab the arm of the Urshifu as it lands.
A tight grip that would lead into a Thrashing of teeth and claws and anger.

Temp rubs his chin, feeling the scruff of a beard he hadn't bothered to shave that morning.

"Usually he would have attacked before you got the chance. I'm not sure what's up with him." But it was a pleasant surprise.
Raising a hand, Temp gave his Lapras a pat on the nose. It was both to soothe himself as much as it was her.

"What do you think could have made him calm down?"

'Calm down' might seem to be a stretch to anyone only seeing Bongo for the first time. The Zarude was hooting and howling, trying to scratch and claw at the other pokemon in pure fury. Aiming for eyes and trying to draw blood.
