Callan paused as he listened. Originally, he had thought tonight was going to be a round of heavy drinking in addition to some fun. But now that fatherhood, child abuse and miscarriage were the topics at hand, he could not help but sympathize. And that was not necessarily a good thing.

"I'm sorry to hear that." Callan begins. As a father himself, he didn't think that any father would be completely without any affection or love of their child. But having experienced first hand how terrible a childhood can be, he could definitely see it.

Every child wishes that they had a normal family. And sometimes, all that they could do is pretend.

Callan wasn't sure what to say about a miscarriage, and so he didn't, he simply squeezes Summer tighter to him and gently rubbed the back of her hair. "Sorry for dragging us into this spiral hun, let's do some forgetting." Callan began, before reaching over and uncorking an entire bottle of whiskey.

Soon they can return to the happy place, and not the place of trauma-bombs, wasted youths, abusive fathers, lost daughters and dead children.

Callan swigs from the whiskey by the neck, downing a fifth before the burn gets to him, before he turns to Summer. "Here, open your mouth babe." Alcohol truly was the savior.
