Hideo awaited slightly off the beaten path, waiting for Melody Miro to arrive. It was just a simple outing, going around and catching Pokemon and talking. There'd apparently been an appearance of new Pokemon that had originally only been in Paldea, so there'd be plenty for them to find.

And going out for a walk, finding and catching Pokemon always served to help him wind down from a big event like what happened in Littleroot. Though he did intend to take the time to tell her what had happened there.

What he'd witnessed.

What he'd gained.

He'd intended to make Uxie's return a surprise, awaiting within its Pokeball to show her when she got here.

Yet Uxie had left its ball minutes ago, floating behind Hideo's Ambipom. A small prank his Ambipom cobbled together, keeping Uxie hidden behind her; she was helping hide Uxie from any random passersby, but her trick lay in wait.

Rilaboom walked alongside Melody. Tapping his drumsticks on the trees nearby as he was always playing something here n there. [break][break]

"Yo hideo!" she said walking over to him, blissfully unaware of what had transpired in littleroot while her back was turned. "How are you mi amor?" she asked as she was feeling her Paldean heritage as of late. Seemed to be all the buzz as of late, maybe it was trendy? Well considering a lot of pokemon that were native to Paldea and contained there were now roaming around the region freely. [break][break]

So of course as an elite 4 member she had help do some 'damage control'. She was so focused on hideo, she hadn't even noticed the strange pokemon near him.

Hideo perked up at hearing Melody’s voice. “Hey, Melody!” he said, waving towards her.

He took a small pause, wondering what she’d meant by “mi amor”, his head tilting slightly. Those weren’t words he’d heard before, but he could at least answer the first half. “Been doing pretty alright. Been kind of busy lately, with everything going on…a lot of new Pokemon popping up in Hoenn lately! I was hoping we could catch some together.”

His Ambipom snickered at Melody’s apparent ignorance of her prank, but her attention was stolen by the arrival of a wild Pokemon - a Stoutland.

She scurried off to fend it off, exposing the Uxie hidden behind her. The small psychic type floated in the air, looking over as the Ambipom quietly Double Hit the Stoutland into submission. It turned back towards Melody, floating slowly towards Hideo as the boy spoke with a smirk.

“I actually wanted to show you a Pokemon I got!” he said, taking a Pokeball out of his pocket. His Uxie Levitated above his head, watching as he tapped the button on its empty Pokeball, the boy’s face taking a moment to drop from the lack of any Pokemon.

It was only when he felt Uxie’s hands brush against his hair that he realized where it was. “You gotta stop leaving your ball like that,” he muttered, patting Uxie on the head. “Melody, meet the Pokemon that gave me that wrist tattoo. Uxie, meet Melody.”

The boy could hear his Ambipom dragging something over. It sounded heavy - was it a Pokemon?

Melody wouldn’t have any issue noticing the slightly-scuffed Ambipom dragging the knocked-out Stoutland.

She stood deathly still as she watched Uxie float above Hideo, he hadn't realized it was gone? What in the- [break][break]

The realization dawns upon Hideo that she was never in her pokeball. "So..this is one of the lake trio members you guys mentioned to me?" she asked as Cobalion suddenly arrived beside her. Maybe it sensed a powerful Pokémon with Melody and got defensive?[break][break]

She put him at ease by placing a hand on his side "It's alright. They're friends." she says as Cobalion doesn't lower his guard but calms slightly. She extends a finger towards Uxie in an attempt to greet it fondly. "Hey there lil guy. I'm Melody, I'm friends with Hideo. It's nice to finally meet you after hearing so much about you." she says wondering how the pokemon would react. [break][break]

Cobalion turns around suddenly, sensing danger as a porygon-z decided now would be the best time to make a name for itself. The porygon fires a thunder shock He throws up a spikey shield, as a shiny metallic metal leaks from it's body. "What the fuck? SINCE WHEN CAN YOU DO THAT?" she shouts in surprise. [break][break]

Cobalion draws its sword again, readying a SACRED SWORD to swoop in and defeat the Porygon in one strike. Melody turns and decides to quickly capture the porygon-z "That was...random. But yeah Hideo i'd be down to capture some pokemon with ya!"

Once Hideo felt the knocked-out Pokemon laid against him, he realized what his Ambipom was up to. “You gotta let me know when you do that kind of stuff, Pom,” he sighed, tapping a spare Pokeball against the Stoutland.

Back to Melody - though before Hideo could give an answer, he heard the arrival of a new Pokemon. Though he couldn’t immediately tell what Pokemon it was, Uxie told it to him mentally - Cobalion. “Guess Cobalion wanted to see Uxie too?” Hideo joked.

Uxie floated above Hideo, looking over Cobalion through closed eyes before turning back towards Melody. It watched her extended finger, soon reaching out towards it, grabbing it with both hands - and gently shaking it up and down, a smile on its face.

The closest it could get to a handshake without fingers of its own.

“Seems Uxie likes you,” Hideo said, “It wouldn’t let you get close if it didn’t. At least, I think it wouldn’t; I’m still learning how Uxie acts.” Uxie seemed pretty friendly to most of his Pokemon.

Most of them. It didn’t seem very keen with that one Alakazam he had, the disobedient one.

Uxie’s attention snapped to the Porygon-Z that appeared, floating in front of Hideo to keep him safe - an action that went unneeded with Cobalion’s quick response. Though no sooner did that occur, that another Pokemon arrived, albeit one much smaller and much less hostile - which didn’t stop it from being snatched up by Hideo’s Ambipom, earning her a Water Gun to the face from the distressed Azurill.

It mildly annoyed her, but she gently brought the Azurill over to Hideo, the boy already readying a spare Pokeball. “Seems like they’re already coming to us, so we don’t gotta go far to find any Pokemon!...but I wanted to talk to you too. About when I got Uxie.”

Hideo stood up from his seat, Uxie once more floating above him, its hand tapping Hideo on the head so he’d know where it was. “I was in Littleroot when Uxie appeared, when the League was dealing with that meteor. When Rocket attacked.”

That...that would be true..Legendaries ARE really good at just up and vanishing. [break][break]

"Ahhh. That seems to be true for a lot of legendary pokemon. They're very fickle and picky, I mean, as they should be." as she watches his pokemon catch more friends for his team. Hopefully none of the caused trouble for her at her home.[break][break]

Yet something he said troubles her. "So I was right? When you guys were all in danger it showed up again? See! I told you!" she says "BUT DONT THROW YOURSELF INTO DANGER RANDOMLY! At least tell me first!!" she said crossing her arms as Cobalion felt a small surge of anger annoyance and...pride? He found it interesting. [break][break]

As she shouts, it alerts another pokemon that finds them. Cobalion doesn't react this time, watching her Rilaboom spring into action slamming it's drum onto Exeggutor's head. A plam leaf falls off his head as he begins to cry and throws off Rilaboom's desire to fight, he walks over and tries to put the palm leaf back onto it's head. Cobalion squints at them both, giving a disapproving stare to Rilaboom as the drummer began to feel self concious. Melody takes note of the nonsense going on in front of her and throws a pokeball at exeggutor and recalls Rilaboom. [break][break]

"So. What ended up happening at little root? The reports I saw were rather...interesting."

The admonishment was expected: he'd kept everyone in the dark regarding Rocket's plans in Littleroot, unsure who to discuss it with without revealing his source.

Even if that source was just as intent on stopping them as he was. And was just as involved with the Lake Trio as him.

Hideo's arms dangled to his sides. "It's not like I was trying to get into trouble," he protested, "I had no idea Rocket was gonna pop up in Littleroot." An absolute lie - and far from the first he was going to tell. "I wouldn't think Rocket was crazy enough to attack when the League was trying to stop the meteor, but sure enough, they did."

They were lucky Rocket's interference didn't get the region destroyed.

As Hideo’s continued speaking, his Ambipom snuck off once more, her attention drawn to a Chesnaught banging its belly like a Belly Drum. Faint sounds of monkey violence could be heard as the boy talked, but he was too caught-up in his words to notice.

“There was a lot going on. I’m pretty sure most people could understand what was happening about as well as I could. I heard there were even Megalopolans there too, helping Rocket...not the kind of guys you’d share lemonade with, though I didn’t have to deal with any of them myself. I got into some battles with Rockets, but I got out ok.”

He’d leave out that one of them had been an avatar of Xerneas - he was sure Melody would give him another earful if she heard that.

“But that guy that was hosting that Cats and Dogs contest? The chef guy? He appeared, started causing trouble for everyone. With Dialga. Things got really hectic there, and I think one of Dialga’s attacks came at me.” Uxie gave his hair a slight ruffle, putting a grin on the boy’s face. “That’s when Uxie showed up. And it seems like Uxie’s here to stay.”

Hideo’s attention momentarily drew to the loud sound of something large being dragged over towards him, his Ambipom dragging her quarry over to him. “And not sneak off like you keep doing, Pom,” he sighed, taking out another spare Pokeball as his Ambipom failed to contain her laughter.

She sighed and stared right at him, not like it would do very much as he wouldn't be able to understand what facial expressions meant. To him words were everything so she had to stay calm and choose her words carefully. [break][break]

"At least next time let me know before you go so I can go with you." she asks, hoping he'd see the reason in her worry. "Rocket is more insane than anyone else in this region. It's why they think Pokémon only exist to bring them glory. That takes SERIOUS ego" [break][break]

After Melody captures the Exeggutor, a Trumbeak decides for some reason it has a problem with what just happen and descends upon Rilaboom with a bullet seed. The Rilaboom uses his arms to cover his head from the irritating onslaught of seed after seed after seed pelting against him. However it makes a fatal mistake, it swoops in too closely to Rilaboom and the monkey managed to pluck the bird out of the sky and begins to spin it around and around to make it dizzy. Hideo could only shrug. “Well, if I do visit Littleroot again, I’ll make sure to invite you. We could even check out that house you mentioned your parents had there~” And truth be told, he did intend to visit there again, mainly to take another look at that power source Rocket was searching for there. “Don’t think Rocket has control of Littleroot like with Sootopolis, but it doesn’t hurt to be careful.”

He pocketed his newly-captured Chesnaught. “Though there is something I need to check out there when I get a chance. It might sound a little silly, but there was some stuff under the Littleroot Theater.”

Vague, but he was about to give some detail.

“This is secondhand from my Beheeyem, so I dunno how accurate this is…but Elga saw some strange stuff down there. Like it was some kind of kingdom was beneath us, with those weird wheels in clocks. We couldn’t get in there, but it was like it started going back in time, from broken down to fully rebuilt.”

“I think whatever it was, Rocket was trying to get into it.” It had to possess that energy source Eris told him about. “And there were some weird Pokemon down there. I dunno what they were, but they were kind of mechanical. They were even made from the pipes from that kingdom.”

A small muttering sound was heard from his Uxie, reminding Hideo of the last bit of information he had. “Uxie shared some words with me there. ‘Heart, Soul, Mechanical,’ and ‘Time Signature.’”

He paused, trying to remember anything else about his time down there - only to be distracted by a particularly odd scent. A small Pokemon approached him, both his Ambipom and Uxie noticing it. “What is…” Hideo started, noticing Uxie fly off towards the scent. A moment later, Hideo felt a small Pokemon be deposited in his arms, the scent clearly coming from it. “Well, that’s new,” Hideo said, the small Pokemon bearing a wreath of flowers on its head. It didn’t feel like any Pokemon he’d encountered before.

“This Pokemon look familiar to you, Melody?” he asked, the Sprigatito making herself comfortable on his sweater. “I heard some new Pokemon were showing up in Hoenn after the meteor.”

Whatever it was, it was new to him - and that meant he was keeping it.

The idea of visiting one of her childhood vacation home puts her off. She was sure that place would bring memories up that she'd rather forget. She recently learned that her memory wasn't as pristine now that the toxin was out of her system than she had thought. [break][break]

Regardless, it was the information of a rather strange thing underneath Littleroot. "Pipes? Soul, heart, mechanical?" she says absolutely bewildered before suddenly Melody recalled why that word sounded so familiar. It was a memory left behind from the toxin. "Wait. Hideo can Uxie describe those pokemon more clearly? Did it have like...a giant ring arm thing?" she asks him as he suddenly returns with a sprigatito. [break][break]

"Oh. That's a Sprigatito. They're one of the Pokémon given to trainers in Paldea when they start their journey." she says "I have it's fully evolved form. illeana reyes gave me one when she heard I never got my starter from Hoenn. I just always had my Primarina from befriending." She says quickly explaining the pokemon. [break][break]

"But besides the point!!!" she emphasizes "Uxie! Was this thing called a soul heart? I heard a pokemon called Volcanion talking about it and I've been trying to find that pokemon ever since! That jerk broke my tower!" she says as suddenly a zigzagoon comes in and tries to bash into cobalion. It does little to actually phase the pokemon but Melody suddenly reacts "AHHHH ZIGZAGOON NOT NOW!" she says as Rilaboom takes on the opponent. [break][break]

It grabs the zigzagoon and tosses it upwards into the air. It uses Drum-Beating, the vines on the trees began to shake as they smacked the zigzagoon around and eventually tying it up inside of a ball of vines. It's head pokes out as it barks and Melody is thrown off by it's unnatural resilience...was it like Maksim? She tosses a pokeball at the Zigzagoon in an attempt to capture it.
