there’s no point in waiting for her to answer. so he does so immediately after. setting himself up so that he does not have to rely on others.

no matter how out of place THE SILENT ICELANDS are in hoenn, the rest of the region still abides by the rules of day and night. their conversation, and ‘scouting’ of the area, is threatened by the approaching dusk. a place rife with such mystery is not to be trifled with. he will leave with, or without her.

“ah, and for the record livy—”

he starts to depart.

“the local folk hero? now that’s a prick with an even bigger hero complex than you. there’s your lack of accountability right there.”

and to no surprise, he doesn’t wait. he expects her to follow. not because he leads but because she has no choice.

“oh, and we didn’t replace him. he quit on us.”

As the sun began to set and make room for the night, their conversation drew to a steady close.

Her words were quick, like a fleeting promise against the cynicism he held against her and the world around them. Even if she knew he'd only twist her words into further proof of some desperate 'heroism', Penelope wanted to make it known.
